2006-07 παρουσιάζει: ABC ανανεώνει 14, τι για το υπόλοιπο;

Help Me Help You — The offbeat sitcom was pulled last December due to low ratings and nine episodes. There’s been no word of any interest in its return and Ted Danson has signed on to co-star with Glenn Close in a new drama series for FX.

In Case of Emergency — This sitcom was decimated by American Idol. It will go off the air on April 4th. ABC is calling that episode the season finale though there will still be two episodes left unaired. It’s a longshot for renewal.

The Knights of Prosperity — This series went off the air this month and ABC maintains that it will return this season. It had the misfortune of being pitted up against American Idol but also consistently lost viewers from According to Jim and George Lopez lead-ins. If ABC has a hole to fill in their schedule, this sitcom has a decent chance for a second season, as several at ABC like it (including Entertainment President Steve McPherson).

The Nine — Only six episodes have aired and there are still no plans to air the remaining seven. Several people in the cast have taken on other Fall series, including two for ABC. This one’s not coming back for a second season.

Show Me the Money — The William Shatner game show was a hit initially but quickly slipped in the ratings. ABC still has a few episodes in the can but its very unlikely the dancing girls and host will be back.

Barry Watson on What About Brian on ABCSix Degrees — This series is miraculously returning on Friday after an almost five month absence. Once considered a “dead duck,” there are rumors that it may get a second season. It will likely depend on how well it performs in the ratings.

What About Brian — This series was given a second chance after a disappointing freshman year. It usually loses a significant amount of its lead-in audience and frequently lost to NBC’s ratings-challenged Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. The season finale airs next week and Brian’s unlikely to be given a third chance.

We’ll know for sure how many of these shows survive or are revived once the network schedules are announced in May. Based on how things are looking right now, none of their chances look very good. Stay tuned! TV Series Finale home page

Postscript: October Road came out of the gate solidly but it’s too early to tell how it will do over the long haul. American Inventor is returning for a second season on June 6, 2007.

What about Brian is one of the best of ABC! Bring it back. What are we gonna do without seeing where that last episode leads to? Bring it back, please.

I am devastated to hear that What About Brian is likely to be cancelled. I live in Australia and can’t get enough of this show. It is a really mature show compared to most of the drivel on tv and I really hope ABC reconsider.

I am very upset to hear that What about Brian Daybreak have been cancelled. There aren’t many shows left on TV that I really liked. I love What about Brian? I looked forward to Monday nights just because of that show. Why do they let you get interested in the show and then yank it off of the air. I am very dissapointed and DayBreak was a very good show too. It finally got to the next day and now its over. I also liked the show Six degrees. I did not even watch ABC at all until I got into those shows and probably will not again if those shows are gone. I really hope they give then another chance especially What about Brian? This is really a shame….

I’m very disappointed to see What about Brian? and Daybreak cancelled. I really looked forward to watching What About Brian on Monday evenings and I don’t think Daybreak had enough time to make a standing. I can’t believe the way both of those shows ended. I am very disappointed.

It’s not always the shows ******** themselves. I lay a huge amount of blame on the networks themselves. Ever since they started replacing shows during the off-sweeps months, rather than airing reruns, things have taken a turn for the worse. How is a show supposed to build a loyal viewership, when it may run for 4-8 episodes, then be off the air for 4 months?? This year, all the networks did this over the new year. Most all shows took a “winter hiatus” while they aired a bunch of **** in place of the regulars.

It’s my opinion that the networks are more to blame for low ratings than the shows themselves.

I do not get why shows screw up their own show. I mean George Lopez was great when it first came out, and the war at home was good but now they have gotten so perverted and mean, and it is not funny anymore. Why can’t shows go back and be more like they were in the 1950’s? I will gladly watch anything of that era, over anything that’s on tv today.
