2007 Cancelled Shows: CBS Cancels Several Series
The network’s still doing well so CBS is playing it safe once again this fall. The Tiffany network is introducing very few new shows this year and sticking with most of the old favorites. Here’s what won’t be back for the 2007-08 season:
Armed & Famous - The short-lived celebrity cop show was pulled from the air back in January. All existing episodes have been aired on VH1 or CBS and there won’t be any more.
The Class - This show was devoutly loved by its fans but they were too few in number. CBS is committed to one night of comedy which means four sitcom slots. CBS chose to try one new series and renew four others with higher ratings than The Class
Close to Home - This crime drama has been rumored to be in trouble for months and, unfortunately, the rumors were true. The final episode (#44) aired last Friday.
Jericho - The Skeet Ulrich drama about a small town following a nuclear disaster started off strong but lost viewers when it returned from hiatus. The series finale aired on May 9th, 2007.
Episodes are available via iTunes and from Amazon.com.
The King of Queens - The Kevin James sitcom ended its run on Monday night after nine seasons and 207 episodes. Over 13 million watched.
Smith - The Ray Liotta series was the first to go after airing just three episodes.
All seven episodes are available on iTunes and Amazon.com.
3 lbs - The Stanley Tucci medical drama replaced Smith and lasted just three episodes. Tucci has been cast in a regular role on NBC’s ER however. All eight episodes are available via Amazon.com
Waterfront - Remember this one? The drama starring Joe Pantoliano as a colorful mayor in Providence, R.I.? Five episodes were completed but it was canned before even one episode aired. Talk about a fast cancellation…
Returning series are: Cold Case, Criminal Minds, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, CSI: New York, Ghost Whisperer, How I Met Your Mother, NCIS, Numb3rs, Rules of Engagement, Shark, 60 Minutes, Survivor, Two and a Half Men, The Unit and Without a Trace.
The Amazing Race and The New Adventures of Old Christine will return midseason (January) or earlier. Stay tuned!

I can’t believe you cancelled Jericho, you really wanted to dump it, you found any means to cancell it to put on junk, we all know we live in a world that anything can happen in this case it is a great possibility it can happen. you only put it back on because the viewers uproar that it was cancelled, and you found what ever means possible to dump it, shame on you, as far as we are concerned, your network sucks big time

i hate cbs! mondays are usually the worst day of the week, but i always looked forward to the line-up on cbs. and of all the shows on tv The Class was my favorite! i only waatched the other shows because there was nothing else on. i watched it faithfully week after week with my mom and couldn’t wait for the second season! they really f***ed up this time! i hope that aanother station adopts The Class and it becomes the hit its meant to be. then CBS can watch and kick thetmselves in the head while they fall apart.

WOW I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU CANCELED THE PRIRATE SHOW.
SO MANY PEOPLE GOT TOGETHER IN GROUPS TO WATCH IT AND THEN COMPARED THEIR FEELINGS ABOUT HOW THE SHOW WENT.
CANCELED SHOWS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THEM??? COME ON CBS .
USE SOME SENCE. SOMEONE NEEDS TO BE FIRED. I’M THRU WITH YOU AND ANY NEW SHOW YOU
MAY COME UP WITH. WHY WATCH ANYTHING ON CBS. YOU WILL CANCEL THEM ANYWAY.

I was not surprised to find the Close to Home cancellation info. They trashed the show in the second season when they took out the human element. Killed her husband and traded believable lawyers for NY City slicks. Made it too impersonal to call it ‘close to home’. Loved the first season though. almost never watched the second. Pay attention CBS!

Only 2 seasons for Close to Home can’t some other network take it. that was a really great show. Please CBS bring back Close to Home, b/c we all know that those new shows won’t last a year. so if that happens you bring back Close to Home.

Ok, so CBS wised up and brought Jerico back… took them long enough. Now they need to bring back The Class. They have an opportunity with this show to have one with the magnitude of Friends and they took it off the air. Remember, Friends had a slow start as well and look where they turned up!! PLEASE BRING BACK THE CLASS!!! If networks keep doing this to their fans and putting out more and more realty crap then everyone is just going to start renting movies and watching cable channels instead of the main 4 networks.

CBS made the worst decision in canceling The Class.. I refuse to watch CBS anymore unless they bring it back
July 6th, 2007 at 8:36 pm
I loved close to home! Bring it back. It was one of my favorite shows. I’m really glad they’re bringing back ghost whisperer!!!
July 5th, 2007 at 3:03 pm
What was CBS thinking when they decided to cancel Close To Home?? Jennifer Finnigan is outstanding and David James Elliott was just lured back to TV!!! Kimberly Elise was a joy to watch - except while being shot, but every season has to end with a shock so we will watch next season… But now you leave us with . . . nothing?
I’m ready to give up on CBS drama’s because they give you a chance to become invested, then they cancel them. Close To Home, Smith, 3lbs, Jericho - anyone?

I just have to say that while I watched the whole monday night line up, I have every episode of the Class on my dvr. I LOVED this show and was one of the only reasons to turn on the TV. Bad call CBS.

Even though I didn’t watch the entire season of the class, doesn’t mean that I didn’t like the series. I watched the last 7 episodes and the pilot. The pilot rocked. I liked the last 7 episodes too. You should’ve given The Class a second season. Very disappointed.

The Class was good because the characters were good and it was not given a fair shake. How can you run a show for one season and make a decsion based on ratings that did not get a chance to grow. Why can’t you run the new shows on late night or weekend afternoon to develope a following. Seems you put out all of this money to promote and create a new show and then just throw it away. I am sure the sponsors are so proud.

I will not be watching cbs….they cancel everything that is good. So long cbs! Thanks for 1 season of The Class!
