Day Break: ABC’s Taye Diggs Drama is Gone
![]()
As you may recall, ABC recently announced that they were reworking their Wednesday night schedule (in preparation for the return of Fox’s American Idol). That left fans of Day Break out in the cold as the Taye Diggs series would be pulled from the schedule after the December 27th episode had aired. There was some hope and speculation that the series would be moved to another night. We now know that’s not going to happen.
The Lost-replacing series Day Break has been pulled from the schedule even earlier than expected. The ratings for Day Break have continued to fall since its debut and the latest was no exception. The sixth episode, entitle “What If They Find Him,” attracted only 3.1 million households. As a result, ABC has yanked the drama effective immediately. Repeats of George Lopez and According to Jim will fill 8-10pm Wednesdays for the next two weeks (both sitcoms begin new seasons in January on Wednesday nights).
There are seven unaired episodes and, as of now, there are no plans to air them on the network (joining fellow dramas The Nine and Six Degrees). The good news is that ABC has said they will post the remaining episodes online, with a new episode being posted every Thursday for the next seven weeks. They may decide to release the episodes for purchase online via iTunes but I’m guessing that will have a lot to do with viewer demand.

I live in the UK and I happened upon this show through newsgroups and absolutely love it!
But what gets me is 2 things…
1. They don’t allow anyone from outside the united states to view the shows on the abc website…
and yet 2. they have syndicated the episodes to be shown in the UK soon on the tv station called Bravo here, for what I can only assume is a money recouping mechanism! even though it is an unfinished series???
So why don’t they allow people outside the states to view it?
it can only spark more interest surely and more interest means more ratings!
I hate the fact that its all money orientated and not viewer driven…
and on the flip side… How can they be allowed to air an unfinished series in another country… therefore only creating more frustration with more people!!!
Grrrrr…..

DayBreak & Adam Baldwin brought great excitement to Wednesday nights again. The suspence and ‘who done it’ to the network was a thrill to watch on the network again. The choices of TV shows are very thin today and DayBreak was a real releaf & thrill to watch. Good luck in the future

I guess I’ll have to stick my 24 (on FOX). At least they know how to complete a show / series!!! Bay Break was a good “break” from all the so called “reality” **** that saturates the air waves. Keep up the good work ABC, way to drop the ball “DAY” again!!!

I second all the comments about loving the show, Day Break, about being pissed about it being taken off the air, and feeling very frustrated not knowing what happened. Well, I’m still frustrated, because I cannot find the episodes online. When I went to ABC.com, it just showed the option for watching episodes of their top shows. How do I get my Day Break fix????

When ARE they posting the last episode? Of course, you can’t contact them to ask. ABC has really messed up this whole deal.

I love this show, and I just wanted to say thanks to those who put it together. Being a Firefly fan, I had hoped that such a fiasco wouldn’t happen again, yet it did. It’s a shame, especially for poor Adam Baldwin, but I still can’t wait to see the finale.
224. Rich said,
Well at least they have the new episodes online now…
i guess you could call this show a “cult hit” still abc dropped the ball with this decision of cancellation
