Day Break: Petition to Save the Taye Diggs Series
Did you miss Day Break on ABC last night? If so, you’re certainly not alone. We’ve been innundated with emails and traffic from people looking for details on what’s happened to the Taye Diggs series.
For those who don’t know, Day Break has been pulled from primetime by ABC after just six episodes due to low ratings. The on-going storyline is hardly resolved with seven unaired episodes left in the season. ABC has said they will post episodes (one per week) on their website but many people don’t have a powerful enough computer, can’t access the Internet long enough to watch, don’t have a fast Internet connection or, for many other reasons, simply can’t view the episodes. In short, millions of people who could have seen future episodes on free network television, will never see this excellent series — and we think the decision-makers should know.
So, we’re inviting you to sign a petition that asks the network and the production companies (Gross Entertainment and Touchstone Television) to release the series so that more people can see it — to return the series to network TV or at the least, to release it on DVD. With enough interest, there could even be a second season or a movie.
Let your friends, neighbors and co-workers know — anyone who misses Day Break — where they can find this petition. Naturally, the more names are collected, the better.

We, the undersigned have enjoyed much of your programming, particularly the outstanding Day Break series. We have enjoyed the Taye Diggs series each week and are dismayed that it has been pulled from the primetime schedule.
We believe that the ratings have not accurately shown the show’s popularity for success. After just six episodes, we believe that Day Break was not given enough time to fully establish a potentially huge audience. Please remember that many very popular shows like MASH, 24 and Cheers were not immediate hits.
We understand that ABC is posting the remaining episodes online but, for a variety of reasons, millions of people are not able to see these episodes — resulting in lost viewership for you and disappointment and frustration for them.
We respectfully request that you return Day Break to network television and to consider continuing production of further episodes or even a film. At the very least, we ask that you make the existing episodes available to a wider audience via a DVD release.

My brother told me about this show. We bought the DVD set. It was so compelling that i watched it in one straight sitting. It really would be worth bringing it back, as it seems to have a fairly strong and vocal following. Really was an entertaining tv show.

Finally…something different…a show that’s not the same old same old…and you take it off the air!!!! Is it truly lack of interest …or…is it just that you didn’t give this show a chance to become established with viewers. And Taye Diggs? What can I say? He’s awesome and believeable in that role. Come on ABC…find a way!

I do hope it’s renewed for a second season after they’ve showed them again (saw comercials about this when I was in the US earlier this summer). It’s one of the best shows I’ve seen on TV.

Day Break was the best show on tv and it need to be a second because of the way it ended and I didn’t want the show to come to the last episode because I knew I wouldn’t be able to see another new episode. ABC need to stop keeping all the shows that no one wants to see and keep shows like Day Break and cancel the other one’s.

this can not be real. One of the best series ever to be stoped, i am sure that this is something else… This serial is the best, it has 6.5 mil viewers what more do they want ? Just some other company contact the script writer and actors and do another serial with diffrent name like When Day Breaks - it will be huge and make them a lot of money and a lot of happy people. And what statistics say that the serial is low on support ? That is not true.

I’m one of the BIG Colombian fan base of “Day Break” and also the most faithful…
We are getting Day Break by the People and Arts channel and I’m just getting the news of this series cancellation and I was Shoickt and disappointed.
I sign this petition in order to protect the general interest of those who are really engaged with good TV… This show is exactly that. A great Show and I hope you realize that.

Luckily “TV One” aired all of the episodes of Day Break, or I would have gone stir crazy. The last episode was so good, I am crossing my fingers that some network picks the show up for a second season. Obviously the show has a fan base by the overwhelming response in this forum alone.
I will admit that it took me three tries to understand the show but once I really paid attention I was hooked.
PLEASE GIVE US “DAY BREAK” !!!!!!

I absolutely loved this show and could not wait to see it every Sunday. I watched the marathon on Memorial Day with my husband and got him hooked. The finale was fantastic. It left you wondering who was that guy watching Hopper and Rita in the end and what happened to Chet. You have to have a second season. i will be purchasing the DVD something I have never done before. This series is right up there with “The Game” with Michael Douglas”. ABC you did not promote this show like you do others. You have missed out on a great show by cancelling it. TVOne keep up the good work and bring this back out. Plaster Taye Diggs on all the talk shows like they do everybody else.

I just finished watching the entire season of Day Break on TV1. I’m in school full-time, with little time to watch anything on television, but I had to make sure that I saw every episode. Every episode was excellent and ABC should have never dropped the show. I’m happy that TV1 picked it up so I could see the rest of the season. So please continue the show. I want to see the second season!!!!

Hey guys I love the Day Break Series alot among with other several tv series, I hope ABC network will pick up “Day Break” for a new season cause it is totally awesome! I mean who can keep thinking of so many new ideas and outcomes for the “same” day over and over(pure genius). So hopefully it comes back. If they could also hopefully sell the DVD in Asia region cause I just introduced this series to my friend in Asia and he LOVES it and so does his elder brother!!(Help my friend out a little)

Day Break - I Tivo the show on ABC, and now on TV One. I’m very upset this show was cancelled. This show is of very good content, the suspense leaves you wanting more. Abc needs to reconsider or another network needs to bring this show back to life.

I never saw the show on ABC Network, but I started resently looking at the episodes on TV One and me and my family fell in love with the show. My son is very hard to please when it comes to TV and he even loved the show. We spent our entire Memorial Day watching an marathon of Day Break on TV One. Please bring the show back!!!!!

Not sure why this ended or why it ddn’t catch in with the other viewers. This show is comparable to CSI Miami and other ddetective shows. Please release the season on DVD or continue the marathons on tv one.

Okay…it’s been well over a year now that you…ABC..pulled DayBreak. YOU WOULD RERUN IT DURING THIS WRITERS STRIKE if you had any sense. It will be new to many, and maybe help some of us LOYAL FANS see ABC in a more favorable light after having FINALLY made a FAIR AND INTELLIGENT decision regarding this series. You originally replaced it with RERUNS of “JIM” and “Lopez”…why not replace a present rerun with this terrific series???????? PLEASE COME TO YOUR SENSES. I hope all of these additional comments over the year are sent to ABC again. Maybe we all should have sent ABC ‘nuts’ LIKE THE FANS OF JERICHO SENT TO CBS. They have their series BACK!!!!!!!

I live in Eastern Europe and somehow I used to live under the impression that only in countries like mine something like that could happen. To cut off a success series at half final season, without warning,is a specific move to countries where “respect” for the viewers means nothing. Great actors, great story, great intrigue, this show has it all! Are you guys sure the rating was so bad? Allow me to express my doubts over it…

Day Break is defintely the best series I’ve seen all 2007. Better than Heroes, better than Lost. It starts slowly, but half-way through, it just gets better and better with every episode. The ending was fantastic! I’d definitely buy the DVD box set if there ever was one, and if there was another season I’d watch it religiously.

Daybreak was one of the few rare smart shows that aired. To pull it without allowing the show to grow is a huge mistake, as TV ratings these days will tell you absolutly squat due to TIVO and Digital recording devices. Allow fans to rate the show on the website, and you’ll see ratings blow a hole in your roof.

There is so much junk on TV now that It’s a real shame when they cancel one of the really original great new shows. Daybreak is a superb show and although making a second season may prove difficult considering the day was resolved, there will always be room for a new story and a new day to repeat.
This is some of the best television I have watched in recent years, at least since the first two seasons of 24.

A year after it’s cancellation and the show still has a fanship pleading its return … maybe you at ABC will notice this? I can’t see how a show like ‘Cavemen’ is still airing, yet ‘Day Break’ didn’t make the grade. As I recall, over 3.1 million viewers were tuning in with me to watch ‘Day Break’ unfold. How many more than 3 million is enough? I will say this to you, ABC — there is not a single show in your entire primetime line-up I care to watch, and therefore, I never tune in. Never. Maybe in lieu of the current writer’s strike, the big dogs at ABC could/will pull ‘Day Break’ off the shelf and air the series again? How about airing it in place of ‘AFV-America’s Funniest Home Videos;’ would that upset anyone? Hell, I can request the same for ‘The Nine’ and ‘Six Degrees;’ both great shows ABC dropped. If airing them again won’t happen, then maybe you could sell the show(s) to another network who will have the better judgement to air it/them? I’ll gladly give another network my viewership. ABC is stinking up the place these days anyway.

If the “Nielson (Nielsen?) Ratings” are how networks judge a shows popularity then I believe it’s time to Re-think how they learn what’s TRULY LIKED by ALL of the viewers. It seems that all of us who watched DAYBREAK were left out of the voting considerations. That was one of the BEST and TRULY ORIGINAL shows to come around in a very long time. We finally had something that was INTERESTING as well as HELD OUR INTEREST but WHO NOTICED THAT?? I think that perhaps the Network Folks should do TWO THINGS they apparently haven’t thought of: 1. Watch the shows they put out and 2. ASK PEOPLE WHAT THEY THINK.
Ratings are too impersonal and incomplete to do any of us with a good opinion any good at all.
To the Networks: All of us who really like & appreciate GOOD SHOWS LIKE “DAYBREAK” also REALLY APPRECIATE that you give us great shows like that but WE ALSO REALLY NEED YOU TO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT IT IS WE TRULY LIKE TO WATCH BEFORE CANCELING THEM. YOU SHOULD ALSO KNOW, that among us “Common Working People”, when you have a Great Show like “DAYBREAK” to look forward to, and especially after a “really bad day” at work , you can’t help but feel better when you remember: YOUR FAVORITE SHOW IS ON TONIGHT !!!

This is the best series that nobody ever watched - this really, REALLY needs to be released on DVD. This show is SO much better when multiple episodes are watched back-to-back, I think it would have made a better miniseries broadcast over a sequential number of days, and this is why I think it would be so ideal for a DVD release. Hopefully ABC will re-run this during prime time slots over the course of the “dry season” that the writer’s strike is creating - that way viewers would have new content to watch, and ABC would have a “new” offering to help draw in viewers. Play up the “never before seen episodes!” angle for additional hype, piggyback the first four or six episodes as two-hour “events” to draw viewers in, then string out the last episodes in one-hour weekly increments. DO IT, ABC . . . and THEN release it on DVD!

This is by far my favorite show, one of my top 3. It really kept you on your toes beacause you never knew what was going to happen. Unfortunately when the air time wasn’t a good night for me to watch due to work

I really enjoyed Day Break, there aren’t too many good series on TV these days, but this is one that I really liked. It’s really a shame that it was cancelled.. I guess it’s just another example that it’s only about ratings and money, instead of what it should be about.. Quality! PUT IT BACK ON!

I’ve been waiting for the next episode for months! I told my friends and family about the series but apparently before they had a chance to see it, it was axed! I’m pretty dissappointed that I won’t see the next installments. It must have been bad timing for the show to start because it was fun and exciting to watch.

I loved this show and I was wondering where it was so I looked it up five minutes ago and I have to say I’m really angry that this show is gone. America needs more intelligent shows like Day Break. Since you guys seem to be in the business of taking away all the good shows I guess next you will take Lost off the air…

This show was great; I watched the whole show online in like 2 days. Once I saw the first episode I was hooked.

Daybreak is the best series i’ve seen in years. There has to be a second season as well for Traveler i might add. Only 8 episodes? I thought it was Groundhog Day when i heard that sh*t. First Daybreak, now Traveler? Are you out of your mind! These shows are the best you have to offer so please for all our sakes PUT THEM BACK ON THE AIR!!!

Day Break needs to be brought back to network television. This was one of the best shows i’ve seen in a long time. i was watching the episodes online and then suddenly they all disappeared. I think because of the new premieres they took it off the internet. I can’t watch it on abc.com anymore. Put day break back on tv.

My husband and I LOVED this show and had been eagerly awaiting its return only to find out that it has been cancelled!! It was a really great show and I hope that the producers, writers, or those individuals in charge of this show would reconsider this decision.

I don’t think the viewer count was right. Everyone I know was watching this program. It had us all on the edge of our seats and talking about it the rest of the week. I think we have the right to see the rest of the episodes. They were already filmed, why not release them.

I really want to know how and why he was in the time warp cycle. Did someone put him in it somehow? What was the purpose of putting it in the story-line? It had to be connected to the rest of the plot line, or at least a separate plot created to make sense of it. The show could have just simply been a criminal investigation / fugitive story without the time warp, but it’s so much more interesting with time warp, if there’s a good reason for the added sci-fi / time travel / deja-vu aspect. I could tell the show was really going somewhere with all these ideas, and I really wish we could see where they were going to take it!

Would someone PLEASE tell me that we will eventually find out at least where the story line was going after the final scene in the finale? No spoiler here — but I want to know who was that last person we saw? Why were they smiling? Was it gladness or smugness? Where were the writers going to take the story????
Pulling this show with so many loose ends is tantamount to NBC scheduling Friday Night Lights on FRIDAY NIGHTS!!! When people who “get” the high school football mentality will BE AT FOOTBALL GAMES! Not everyone has TiVo you know! Ratings will be poor and they will pull that show too.
I sometimes think Programming VPs believe the American public will view only mindless drivel such as the glut of (scripted) “reality” shows that they offer ad nauseum!
We’ve lost too many shows for the “thinkers” in the audience. West Wing, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and now this great brain workout!

I cannot watch Daybreak at it’s original time because I work nights, but I catch back episodes online. It is one of the greatest shows on televeison at this time. We do not have a lot of African Americans representing good, solid shows and it would be ashame that this one would be canceled. Please reconsider. Thank you.

really like this show. i got caught up online. but why can’t it be on TV? Great actors, brilliant script and just plain fun. I definitely put in my vote. I’m SSOOOOOO tired of reality crap. Why do you think America’s Biggest Talent is so popular? Hmmm…because it is highly promoted, that is all.

In Holland we got the whole series, I really liked it, it was actually the first series I watched all episode of and stayed at home for to see it.
I also enjoyed Joey, guess what, they killed that show and we cant buy it on DVD in Holland, probably that will happen to Day Break aswell.
In 2 days I am going to watch something else wich comes from america: Champ Car in Assen, my hometown

I watched the first episode and was hooked, some high quality programme-making for a change with excellent story lines plus good acting. Managed to see the whole series in the end. Release the DVD guys and make up for the mess you made with the decision to pull it early.

I am totally upset. The 6 episodes were great. I didn’t even know that they were airing the other 7 on the internet. Even if they thought the ratings sucked, they could have let it play out. A bunch of unwanted reruns to replace this great story line was the worst decision ever I want the season on DVD’s. I am sure that Taye Diggs doesn’t want to come back after that pathetic attempt to pull in ratings. Do they even count the people who T-Vo or use a DVR?

I hope these comments are sent again to ABC (after all of these months and additions)…to make a point. Even though it appears that there is no possibility of a Day Break return, they need to see the strong support for this awesome show, both domestic and international. Their decision making process needs to be rethought….OBVIOUSLY. I still refuse to watch any ABC shows….they have alienated me for a lifetime!!!! P.S. I don’t understand why everyone doesn’t have access to the last episode on-line. It IS there. I doubt, however, that ABC will have the brains to release it on DVD..so enjoy it on-line while and if you can!

Please bring Daybreak back! My husband and I love the show and really hoped that it would do well enough to make it. The cast was awesome, the story line was amazing and the plot was very well thought out. But the best part was it was different from any other show America had ever seen! Honestly I think this show was not given a fair chance to make it. I am happy to have the opportunity to watch additional unaired episodes online however I would really like to see the series finale. If ABC can’t accomodate it, please sell it to someone else and let them continute the show!!

The show was one of those shows that made me want to watch TV. I am going to quit watching your network if you keep dropping good shows. Don’t sign it on if you don’t think it will be able to finish the season. Or at least let the series play out to give people enough time to tell their friends about the show.

Hi, I wanted to share my opinion. I understand that rating may affect a show on television. But I feel that even if that is the case ABC could have moved the time until its finale. At least that way we could have recorded it to vhs and watch it later. I do not feel that it is right to just take it off without giving any information. Day Break was a good series and I like those type of suspenses. Too bad I can’t see the final episodes. Right now ABC has Traveler that I am also watching, hopefully they won’t stop that. Thank you for your time.

I just spent the last 2 days watching all of the episodes. I cannot for the life of me understand why this show was pulled. It was gripping, edgy, innovative…I could go on. I really would love to see a season 2. Even if it is Online only. I’m really disappointed in ABC as a whole. Six Degrees is another show that really deserved to go on and if you pull Notes from the Underbelly, I’m going to give up on the network completely.

They want people to watch, but then they cancell a show in mid-stream once the viewer is hooked. I wonder why so many people don’t watch network television.

My wife and I were hooked last fall and suddenly the series was pulled. ABC kept promising to show the remaining episodes On-line but after several weeks they still weren’t available so we quit looking. Now I find out that ABC eventually did put them On-line, except for the finale?, but we never heard about it. How can fans of quality TV see this series? Will ABC release it in sindication or on DVD? Or will ABC continue to drive away viewers, and advertising dollars, with inept scheduling and low-intelligence, copy-cat programming?

My wife & I were die-hard Day Break fans from episode #1. We were hooked and we were both very upset when we were informed that the show was cancelled. Initially we stopped watching all ABC programming in an act of protest, but we knew that wasn’t the answer either. Please make Day Break return in some form, so that the die-hard fans like my wife & I can see how the show concludes.

I am a Canadian viewer that was disappointed with ABC’s decision to pull the show. Great story, have finally seen the whole series. It would be nice to see the series continue however I have my doubts that it would be with ABC. Our family has made a conscious decision to avoid watching ABC programming since the series was pulled. No ad revenue for ABC from me.

Day Break was a fresh, clever, interesting show. It was extremely disappointing to see it canceled when there were so many trashy shows left running. I’d love to see the series revived. At the very least, I’d like it made available on dvd.

I have watch all episodes of daybreak when it was aired on a satelite channels. I enjoyed the series. Definately would be the whole series if release on DVD.

It is unfortunate that ABC feels that an over 4 million viewship isn’t enough to keep a show on. Well at least we have “The Nine” to watch. Oh thats right. ABC cancelled that one too. Wonder why viewship is down? Whats the sense in getting hooked into a new show, just to have it cancelled a few episodes in. Thank you ABC. If you would like respond I’ll be over on FOX watching TV.
