In the Loop with iVillage: NBC Daytime Series Cancelled
After less than 16 months on the air, NBC has announced that they’re shutting down production on their daytime information show, In the Loop with iVillage.
The weekday program was originally designed as an extension of NBC-Universal’s iVillage website and was focused on issues and subjects primarily of interest to women. The series debuted on December 4, 2006 as iVillage Live and was initially produced out of Orlando, Florida. It was hosted by relative newcomers Molly Pesce, Stefani “Sissy” Schaefer, and Guy Yovan with Naamua Delaney and Bob Oschack as regular contributors.
iVillage Live wasn’t living up to expectations so NBC News’ in-house production group took control and moved it to Chicago. The show was relaunched on September 4, 2007 as In the Loop with iVillage. The five original hosts were dropped and replaced by The Apprentice season one winner, Bill Rancic; Apprentice contestant and The Tony Danza Show sidekick, Ereka Vetrini; and comedian/actress Kim Coles. Additional airtime was given to integrate online feedback and topics.
The series has now been cancelled. Staffmembers were told on Friday that In the Loop will remain in production until March 28th. They were reportedly told that the cancellation is a cost-saving move but it’s generally believed that low-ratings are the primary reason for In the Loop’s downfall.
Once In the Loop with iVillage finishes its run, NBC stations will have to decide what to run until the fall. In most cases, a new daytime talk series, The Bonnie Hunt Show, will take over in September. Stay tuned!

I tried and tried to like that show - but often found myself changing the channel or zipping through the Tivo-ed episodes. They were on the edge of being good, but just not quite there.

NBC hasn’t had much luck with this prime AM time slot. Needs to put something fun on to watch before “Martha”……some decorating show, a cooking show, a style show…..something besides a talk show. There are many viewers who do not watch “soaps”…..I watch the Today Show til 10, then The View………….then ?………..then Martha. Put something on at 11:00 that would appeal to viewers like myself. And definately no game show!!!
If somebody would put something great on at 2:00 pm, my day would be set!! Ever since Star Jones was cancelled there is nothing to watch at this time either!!
