Justice: FOX Throws Out Court Drama
Following on the heels of last week’s cancellations of the Happy Hour sitcom and The Rich List game show, FOX has announced that another of its new shows is leaving the air.
Justice debuted on Wednesday, August 30th to high expectations. The network had been showing fast-paced promos of the Victor Garber series all summer long but it still failed to attract big numbers. The highly anticipated premiere was watched by only 8.6 million viewers.
Justice followed a diverse group of lawyers as they worked at a prestigious Los Angeles law firm. Each episode started at the beginning of a trial and followed it through until the verdict. Then viewers were shown, via flashbacks, what actually happened at the time of the crime.
Like many FOX series, Justice took a break during the World Series (after five episodes). When it returned, FOX began airing it on Monday nights, opposite NBC’s popular Heroes and replacing Vanished (which was moved to Friday nights). Three episodes have aired on Monday nights. The most recent episode drew only 4.2 million households, about half of lead-in Prison Break’s audience.
With that in mind, its no surprise that FOX has announced that the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced courtroom drama has been pulled from the schedule effective immediately. The network isn’t calling it a cancellation right now. The FOX website lists that the show will return on December 11th, but the word is that it will not return for very long or at all.
Eight episodes of Justice have aired thus far and production is expected continue on the rest of the 13 episodes of FOX’s order. There is no word as yet if the series or any individual episodes will be released on DVD or online via FOX’s website.
11/17/06 UPDATE: FOX has officially cancelled Vanished and Justice will instead return on Friday, December 1st. No new word on how long it will continue to air.

We need to call up FX or Spike or VH1 and get them to pick the show up. VH1 has already picked up armed and dangerous when it got canceled, maybe we can get Justice on VH1. Screw Fox they don’t know what they are doing!

I am very disappointed that Justice was cancelled. It was a refreshing spin on the crime tv show. CSI, Law and Order are all essentially of the same formula and have its same run of the mill spinoffs. Justice was unique. You screwed up Fox. I watched the show loyally or taped it whenever I could not watch it live. Besides 24, the rest of your lineup stinks. Bring back Justice and Vanished.

I doubt it that FOX are not going to renew any of their new shows from the 2006-2007 season to the 2007-2008 season. There are a lot of shows out there that deserved to be cancelled, but “Justice” isn’t one of them. You screwed up Fox.

“Justice” was certainly the better of the 2 series in my opinion.

This was the most awesome coutroom drama I have ever seen; much better than Law and Order in my opinion. This was a terrible mistake to cancel this show.. I was riveted every show, and looked forward to watching Fox when it was on. Now, I have nothing to watch on the network.

I loved the show Justice… I thought it was amazing… I told friends and family to watch it.. and even called them to remind them when it was on. I say… put the show back on the air.. and give it one more chance! Come on, no1 liked “Everybody Loves Raymond” in the beginning either.. and then that show went super famous.

my husgand and i are so dissapointed that FOX cancelled JUSTICE! We absolutely loved it. we lead very busy lives and are limited in watching shows…. JUSTICE is EXCELLENT!!! PLEASE PUT IT ON FOR ONE OR TWO MORE SEASONS and give the audience a chance to catch on!!! what a brilliant show and actors and story lines….Fox needs to stop moving the time slots….. AGAIN, A LAST PLEA, PUT JUSTICE BACK ON!!!!!

FOX NETWORK YOU SUCK!!!! YOU WOULDN’T KNOW A GREAT SHOW IF IT BIT YOU IN THE &*%#@!!!!!! I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU TOOK JUSTICE OFF THE AIR. I LOVED WATCHING THAT SHOW, ESPECIALLY THE ENDING. PUT JUSTICE BACK ON THE AIR IMMEDIATELY!!!!

My husband and I cannot believe that FOX has cancelled JUSICE. Please bring it back. We think it is the best new show and miss it so much. Make us all happy and bring it back ASAP.

Justice was great. Put it back on and try it out at a decent time. Maybe try actuay advertising for it on other stations. I rarely ever watch fox. 24 and House. Is all. I never saw a single commercial for it. My gf was watching some show of hers and this HAPPENED to come on after it and I caught it. And instantly loved it. Acting is great. Scenarios are great. The shotgun episode was based of actual situation. Which is cool to see the real special on COURT TV.
Problem is that I wasn’t part of the ratings since I of course didn’t catch on until episode 10. To which the show was canceled by then.
Good work Fox. THINK. You have “hit” shows like 24, House, Prison break and all this reality CRAP thats on… who the hell ever heard of Justice? Exactly… You can’t throw a new show into a mix of established shows. It just got lost…
By the time anyone discovered it, it was too late.
Bring it back. And make it known. The show is great.

JUSTICE is a great show- I loved seeing the “true” crime at the end of each show- please bring it back- the actors were outstanding and the story lines were inventive. For once listen to the people- not just the ratings- you didn’t even put it in a time slot to receive the ratings this show deserved!!!

I so agree with everyone. I never watch fox other than for sports and 24. But Justice was awesome… And ORIGINAL…
Finally, a court show from the perspective of the defence attorneys….!
Go figure though, any network that employs Bill O’Reilly and considers his broadcast news obvioulsy doesn’t knwo what quality television is…

Justice was my favorite new show! It was the best new show that has been on in a long time. I was shocked to hear that it was cancelled.

I completely agree with these other comments, Justice was a great show, I loved watching it! Very disappointed to find it gone from the air for good. It is far better than Standoff, which I enjoyed, but not like Justice. Listen to the people, bring the show back…it is missed.
