Las Vegas: NBC in Trouble Over Series Finale — Did This Cause the Show’s Cancellation?
Though Las Vegas is on its way out, that’s not stopping a conservative watchdog group from taking some final shots at the NBC series.
It seems that the Parents Television Council (PTC) has a problem with the last two episodes of Las Vegas. They’ve filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) over an image that was shown on the February 15th installments of the five-year-old drama.
In the opening moments of the first of two episodes, three young women gather together in the center of the Montecito casino floor and disrobe. They then begin to run around the casino, creating a distraction for some bad guys to start a robbery. As you might expect, this was filmed without showing any objectionable nudity.
What the PTC has a problem with is what they claim they can see on small casino security monitors. In a recent press release, they say that the women’s “buttocks are visible, and only shadows obscure their breasts and groins.”
In a statement, PTC President Tim Winter said, “This crossed the line of common sense decency. NBC seems eager to test the FCC’s resolve to fine stations for violating broadcast decency laws. I remind NBC that the broadcast airwaves are public property. The TV networks do not own them. The TV stations do not own them. The industry must be held accountable for the content they air and the FCC must act in the public interest by slapping NBC with a significant indecency fine.”
These fines are serious business. A few weeks ago, the FCC hit 52 ABC affiliate stations with a fine of $1.4 million because of a 2003 episode of NYPD Blue. As you might expect, NBC has had no comment on the complaint as yet.
Though the series won’t be back on NBC next season, the network will still have to pay the fine if the FCC agrees with the PTC. Could this complaint from the conservative watchdog group have had a hand in getting Las Vegas cancelled? Even if the peacock network had already decided the drama’s fate, this issue over the series finale likely ensures the network won’t be changing their mind. Stay tuned!

OMG I am so disappointed of the ending of Las Vegas. I think NBC needs to know that they are losing viewers. I so liked Las Vegas it was the only show I would sit down and watch, the cast was amazing. Children have no reason to be up watching it, maybe the people need to look into their parenting skills. I have three kids they have their own t.v. maybe you guys should consider that ( oh wait that would make sense). I no longer watch NBC. I just think that is sad that people have to ruin things for other people.

I’m a teenager, Las Vegas was the only show that actually caught my attention and kept it. People out their who complain about this show need to grab a drink and sit down and watch it. Its a good series and doesn’t deserve to be shut down. I think the very least NBC should film a couple more episodes to tie up lose ends. Come on NBC, you keep this up with the canceling of stuff, im goin to laugh when you go bunkrupt.

NBC Cancels Las Vegas.
====================
Unbelievable !!!
Did the ratings drop ???
What happened ???
What MORON made this decision ???
The same Moron(s) who probably ended the show SURFACE….never going to know how that story ends.
Hey, heres a thought to the Exec’s at NBC…..How about film the last 4 or 5 episodes of a show. That way when the Moron(s) decides to end it, at least we will know the ending!!!
So to conclude - To the NBC Moron(s).
In the words of Chef Gordon Ramsay…..Go Piss Off, ya Donkey…

I love Las Vegas. If NBC cancels it that will will be just one more reason for me not to watch NBC anymore. They will lost both Scrubs and Las Vegas. Wow, they are really running out of good programming IMO. They are a far cry from the days of Cheers, Seinfeld and Friends.
The PTC is made up of a bunch of ignorant prudes. Nothing about the show Las Vegas would interest anyone under 18 so why should the PTC be trying to stir up something that was nothing. If they want to censor tv they can always turn it off. It’s a parent’s responsibility to manage what their children watch and not the responsibility of television networks to babysit children.

I think some of these people have completely lost their minds. They can’t think for themselves, so they have to have someone tell them, oh that show is bad, so we have to do something. I think most of these people didn’t even see the show, because, come on, these non thinkers, would be watching a great show like Las Vegas. It is so scary to know we have people out there like this group. But then again, someone has to tell them how to live, because they probably couldn’t funtion with out groups like that. Sad, Sad.

This show was about as clean as you can find on tv today. I agree about the erectile disfunction commercials on during the daytime, not in good taste. This was a fun show to watch and it is a shame that it is being cancelled, and especially without wrapping up the storyline. I hate when I get involved in a show and they just cancel it. Last year I watched “Windfall” until they pulled the plug on it, without really even giving it a good try. I also agree that there are WAY too many reality shows on tv. Reality, give me a break.

Well, I can tell you MY kids would not be up watching an ADULT drama anyway. What are these people, stupid?????
I can’t believe that NBC is so stupid to cancel this show. I really enjoyed watching it. I hate cop shows and reality and this was a great thing to watch. I was so excited to see Tom Selleck again. I think NBC has made a big mistake and I intend to let them know how I feel.

I cannot believe this idiotic PTC. They fine a show for something so minuscule, I did not even notice. What is with these people, kids that are that young that are watching that show that late the parents should be fined not the station? And the people that mentioned the Viagra commercials are correct, those commercials should be fined as should some of the reality shows, that are showing children that it’s okay to mess around with someone before you are married, or for that matter the news for telling them about all the bad things in the world. For Pete sakes this is television. If people are getting that bent out of shape for that late at night, they need to shop watching.

My husband and TIVO this wonderful series (comedy and kinda mystery) because it comes on later. 10:00PM!! 9 is late for us! haha That being said, WHY ARE LITTLE ONES UP WATCHING TV THAT LATE? If you don’t like the series, don’t watch it. It’s fun and the characters click. We think it’s just different. Don’t they object to their “children” or themselves” seeing people ripped apart, shot, etc.? Well then, they better get another form of “entertainment” in their home. I’m very sick and tired of the majority having to live by the “whining” of the minority!!! Bring it back!!!! Just when you get something different. Maybe we’ll get lucky and another channel will pick it up. LOL someone like FOX or TNT. As I recall, “Two and a Half Men” is on in reruns at 7:00pm have you ever heard the dialogue on that show???? Not to mention the scenes? You don’t need an imagination for this show, as with a lot of others. We watch it because it’s funny and heck, we’re old! Parental Control is in the hands of the parents, and if you have no children, CHANGE THE CHANNEL!, THAT’S WHAT THAT BUTTON IS FOR.

i CANT BELIEVE THEY ARE PULLING THE PLUG!
why are the ptc people not concerned about commercials that air during the day (viagra-cealis) Puff Daddy darn near having *** to premote his perfume!
I never thought that I would have to explain to my 5 year old DAUGHTER what erectile dysfunction is after she heard it while coloring in the living room. Kids should not even be watching a show like that anyway, Thats why it’s on at 10:00 PM
dont they have other concerns, most people probably didnt even notice, I know I wasnt dwelling on it!
pleeeeeze, work on the commercials, not the shows!

The problem with it is it leaves the mind to imagination of sexual sin. Why should they be allowed to use public airwaves to transport garbage and filth over to my TV set. Why don’t you all get your facts straight before making assumptions that someone is trying to tell you what to watch. Here is the PTC story for you all to read. http://www.onenewsnow.com/Culture/Default.aspx?id=68315
I guess that you may not have any morals if you abide to this kind of garbage. You all probably are going to vote for one of the most unmoral people for president also. The Muslim obama. Here’s the non-partisan voter’s guide scoring the candidates on a wide variety of issues: A human life amendment, traditional marriage, gun rights, business freedom, taxes, *** pride, the Iraq war and education. Okay so the PTC is now going to tell us which shows will be allowed to air no matter their popularity. This show always has a great plot, mystery and comedy all rolled up into one great show. I’ve watched this show from the beginning and I also loved James Caan but Tom Selleck hasn’t missed a beat in making this another great run. To pull the plug is a disgrace… Fine them or sanction them but to pull from the air is just not fair to the consumer. Turn the channel if it’s offensive - it is on at 10 so there shouldn’t be little ones to watch what they delcare as nudity… Personally I didn’t see any problem…

I don’t understand what the big problem is. I watched the episode and it didn’t even show anything from the girls. You didn’t see a thing. When people are watching TV they are not constantly steering at the TV. But like I said I watched it and there wasn’t anything showing that you don’t see on any other program. Are they going to take every show off for things like this? There are a ton of shows that show bad seens and the reality shows are part of it as well. So like I said are they going to remove every show on TV?
I really think they are making a big mistake cancelling Las Vegas. I have been watching this show since the beginning and have enjoyed everyone in it. Sam is a lot of fun to watch and so is Dalinda. Taking the show off the air isn’t right for all of us who have watched it for so long.
Yes we miss Caan but Tom Selleck is trying his best and he is working really well with the cast. I know for a fact there is a lot of us that is waiting to see the next season and we are all very disappointed in hearing you cancelled the show. All of the actors and the actresses are fantastic they deserve to be able to keep their jobs. Don’t take this show off the air. Please bring it back so we can see the wonderful cast and give us a chance to finally see 2 wonderful couples make it in the show.
