October Road: ABC Cancels Bryan Greenberg Series, No Season Three

October RoadWord has come down that, after a less-than-impressive sophomore year in the ratings, ABC has decided to cancel October Road.

The news has been suspected for some time and was cinched by the network’s interest in the U.S. version of Life on Mars. Boston Legal’s creator, David E. Kelley, owns the rights to do a Mars series in the states. He had been committed to write and executive produce the series for ABC but recently decided to bow out. As a result, ABC execs have been hot to sign Road creators Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, and Scott Rosenberg to the new series. They’ve now closed the deal and sealed Road’s fate.

ABC had attempted to find another home for Road but were unsuccessful in finding a buyer.

All 19 produced episodes of October Road have aired. The series finale aired on March 10th but unfortunately didn’t offer viewers any closure. Will we ever know the identity of Sam’s father? Stay tuned! TV Series Finale home page

I can not believe that the whole show was about “WHO IS SAM”S FATHER” and we will never know

First Men In Trees is cancelled now October Roads, every show on your network that is just enjoyment to watch, you cancel them and give us hospital, realty shows, etc and that is why most of us watch cable tv. I do not understand why whoever keeps doing this you must not watch your own network because it pretty much is low rated.
Please put Men In Trees and October Roads back on - please let Brothers and Sisters on. These three programs are the only time I watch abc.

Advertiser’s ask us to do one thing - buy their products. To do this they sponsor tv shows. We viewers invest our time, through emotional attachment and spend our money on sponsor’s products with no guarantee of closure or resolution. OR is a prime example. Good characters; evil characters; interesting plots and after two seasons we now have many unanswered questions that apparently we will never have the opportunity to resolve. Perhaps we should force some kind of law that would require tv producers to end a canceled series by tying up the loose ends if a show runs a minimum number of episodes. What do you think?

I was a little slow getting into OR. I missed the first few episodes of Season 1 so I said I would wait until it was on DVD and watch in the correct order. So I get Season 1 and then I breeze thru that plus Season 2 in a matter of 3 days. This show has consumed me and now I feel a sense of grief and mourning thinking that it will not continue. I would give up Grey’s and Ugly Betty for this show. BELIEVE ME when i say this is a one of a kind and it needs to remain on the air. This show is so “hometown” that many people can relate to it. It’s really brought back so many memories for me in my little town. OCTOBER ROAD has a fan base and has a GREAT story line. It is humorous and the writing is so witty! We need this show!!!!

This still sucks, but I will continue to fight. I write two letters everyday. I just bought 2 more dvds to donate to the Pay October Road Forward Campaign, who is next?

Come on Roadies, don’t give up!

I am surprised that ABC cancelled this show after the campaign the Roadies started. In like a month almost 200 dvds were donated to libraries and soldiers overseas. We were trying to give them what they wanted, new viewers and they didn’t give it a chance.
That being said I am not giving up! Don’t give up hope Roadies, we need to fight for this show!

I AM SO TIRED OF REALITY TV!!!!! I hardly watch tv anymore because of all the reality stuff on, and I finally found a great show only to have it cancelled too early. It had a crappy time slot but i made sure to watch it every week. Since abc doesnt have the sense to keep it going then I really hope another network picks it up.

I am with you Tina, enough is enough with the reality ****!! October Road was one of the few shows I really liked, and it’s to bad it’s over!! But who are we to say, we’re just the VIEWERS!!!

I can’t believe they canceled October Road and I will be so angry if the only reason they cancelled it was because they needed the writers for Life On Mars. I wish ABC would have the writers to both shows, the writers are totally up for it so I am sure it wouldn’t matter. We could have both shows! I don’t care as long as they bring back October Road!

WHY???????????????? Why do they always have to pick the best shows to cancel?
I finally found a show I and like talking about I CAN NOT believe that they are not going to play my show anymore. It was a show that I could watch with my family, now it’s gone. I really think this show was unique, it combined the awkwardness and doubts of children, the 20something’s and older adults. Relationship problems with all three groups. Dealing with said problems. How friendships can drift, and how TRUE friends are forever. I am a forever fan I never forget my shows. A show I loved, the first one I remember that was cancelled that I couldn’t make sense of was called Relativity, with Kimberly Williams. I’ll never forget the awkward pauses, the real life-like-ness about it. What was so great about O.R. you never give up on your friends, We all make mistakes, and you never know what’s going to happen next….
    You never know.

I’m disappointed this has been canceled. Why are shows I really enjoy and watched intently being canceled!!! I loved this show and I’m very disappointed that we won’t know the things we all want to know from it!!!! I’d love to see this show back on. My husband would also watch it with me.

I find it so unbelievable that ABC could cancel this gem. October Road is a beautiful slice of life. It was refreshing to have a series on television that we can relate to that we can attach ourselves to. I suppose the network had to make room for more reality dribble, blood, guts, glitz, glamour, and deception…everything that I am NOT interested in.

I cannot believe they would cancel the televison show October Road. I enjoyed seeing my hometown of Newnan, Georgia on television which was one of the four cities they filmed the show. The other places they filmed the show in Georgia included Madison, Atlanta, and Decauter.

    Please bring October Road back!!!
What a mistake to cancel this show. It is “cult favorite”.
I have never been so connected to a tv show before, it is crazy how much I love this.
ABC please reconsider! Help bring us some kind of resolution to the stories.
Give us another 6 episodes or some kind of finale.

ABC has got to be seriously loosing there collective minds. I am so sick and tired of stupid reality show’s. I love DWTS, I watched Surviver this season, but that’s it. No other Reality show is on my dvr. I dvr everything so I can watch what I want when I want, with out commercials. I know that doesn’t help ratings for my favorite t.v. shows, but dvr’s can be tracked. I love October Road and I want it back! I’m fighting because the creators of this show are still up for anything. They might of moved on to the stupid David E Kelly show, but I know for a fact Scott R. is still ready to keep going with October Road. So the Roadies got knocked down but we are not out!

October Road is a great show. It is too bad that ABC was quick to pull the plug. It didn’t give it any promotion and gave it a lousy time slot. One of the other networks should really pick it up. It’s a great feel-good type show that has been missing on TV - and now it’s gone. If you didn’t see it, you missed out.

October Road was a GREAT show. We couldn’t wait for it to come on each week. I’m tired of getting interested in a good show, only to have the networks cancel it. Maybe the network “decision makers” need to be replaced - by someone who has some taste. Keep the good, funny, family shows……….and get rid of the reality garbage.
