Women’s Murder Club: ABC Kills Angie Harmon Series’ Chances for Season Two
With October Road and Men in Trees now cancelled, ABC seems to be on a killing spree — not unlike the “Kiss-Me-Not” killer on Women’s Murder Club. With that in mind, it makes sense that Murder Club would be the network’s next casualty.
ABC’s Women’s Murder Club, based on the popular James Patterson books, debuted on October 12, 2007. Viewer and critical reception was mixed. Almost 11 million viewers tuned in for the series premiere but as few as eight million returned for later episodes. More importantly, the TV show’s percentage of the 18-49 demographic dropped as well. The show typically skews older which is essentially a sin in TV ratings.
After the writers strike finished, it looked like Murder Club was done but ABC decided to give it another chance. They fired the show’s executive producers, hired new ones and order three additional episodes to complete the season. The series then returned to primetime after a three month absence. Unfortunately, the numbers didn’t get any better.
The crime drama has now been officially cancelled but, fortunately for fans, they’ll get to see all of the produced episodes. Episode 13, titled “Never Tell”, is scheduled to air tomorrow night. Will the “Kiss-Me-Not” killer be brought to justice by the time the series ends? Stay tuned!

I live in Australia, and my younger sister and I were on the edge of our seats every week after WMC, desperate to know what the next week would hold. It is a fantastic show, with a great cast, and has awesome potential. We have been hanging out waiting until the next season finally makes it to Australia. To find out that is it being cancelled is disappointing. I’d have to agree very strongly with Rosalie (May 26) seriously, who wants to watch stuff like the Supernanny and stuff like that? WMC is a great show. To cancel it, ABC, you’d have to be stupid. Stop airing stupid shows, and stop CANCELLING the ones that are actually worth watching!

What are you all thinking. I am an avid James Patterson fan and this series put faces to the characters, the stories, plots and actors were great. Angie Harmon was great as Lindsey. Please reconsider!!!!!!

I am very angry that this show got cancelled!! I think this show did great things for ABC. You cancelled this show, when in actuallity it was very difficult for veiwers to know when it was playing because of the writers strike. I think you need to give this show a second chance!! But if not, I am a follower and will be heading to CBS!!

Im wondering if another network will bring WMC or MIT back, I sent an email to TNT (a network that rarely cancels anything) and one to ABC to see if there is anything to be done. THESE SHOWS WERE GREAT. A lot better then some of the crap still on TV.

I LOVED this show! One of the classiest shows on TV…thanks a lot….

Perhaps if everyone got a petition to boycott ABC and sent it to ABC and various sponsors, Maybe they would stop canceling such excellent shows.
ABC has nothing left to watch - check out CBS.

This was one of the best shows on TV. Why kill the good stuff?

I cannot believe this MIT, OR and now WMC what is ABC doing?!! I am absolutely upset and out raged. That was a really good show. I look forward to each each week. I hope they reconsider and bring it back.

Do the TV executives think that just because you are over “49″ you don’t buy clothes, cars, etc. You idiots! You took off a good show. I am a James Patterson fan and I thought the TV series showed women that women can take care of themselves and do a damn good job of doing it. You take off this good show and leave on such dumb shows as Super Nanny and The New Adventures of Old Christine. Who wants to watch those dumb shows? ABC, I am really disappointed in you.

I’m an Aussie so I watch this show on our Network 10 and I’m shattered that this show is being cancelled! It was an excellent show that had a strong female cast, not the type that was celebrated in Sex and the City and then repackaged and reproduced as Cashmere Mafia! Bring it back, it was awesome!

I really loved this show!

Women’s Murder Club was great. Finally something on tv that adults can enjoy.
So tired of the same old shows with basically the same old premis. Get real. Your older viewers stay at home more and are more loyal once there is somthing good to watch. Bring back the ladies and give this show a chance.

This show was good, maybe not great but definately worth watching. After the writers strike things went bad quickly, although damage control was implemented by ABC the rating just fell. So it tells all of us TV viewrs that RATINGS are where it is at.
But I am returning to CBS.

Womens Murder Club!! You need to cancel the Executive’s at ABC contracts not this show.
What are you thinking?????
May 23rd, 2008 at 8:06 am
No wonder you can’t keep viewers you cancel every good show you put on.
Womens Murder Club was the best ABC has had in a long time. The last time
I get hooked on a show on your station.

This show was outstanding. I can’t believe ABC is cancelling it. First the writer’s strike screwed things up, then they moved this show to a new night and time but didn’t bother to let the viewers know. Hard to tune in to watch a show when you don’t know when it’s on. I am extremely disappointed in ABC. I guess I won’t be watching ABC anymore. With the cancelation of this show, they don’t have anything else worth watching. I’ll stick with CBS.

I’m a black dude from the ghetto, and I liked this show. So please tell me who dumb idea it was to cancel it? The writer’s strike messed up everything, but if u had the WMC come back for a 2nd season, the ratings would have been better.
