Bob
Cartoonist Bob McKay (Bob Newhart) has worked for the Chicago-based Schmitt Greeting Card Company for 20 years and has always dreamed of becoming a comic book artist.
He gets his chance when ACE Comics senior editor Harlan Stone (John Cygan) wants to revive Bob’s Mad-Dog character that had lasted only 12 issues years ago. Unfortunately, Harlan has changed Mad-Dog from a decent superhero to a bloodthirsty vigilante. Bob and Harlan argue but decide that, together, they can make a great comic.
Other series characters include Bob’s wife Kaye (Carlene Watkins), flaky daughter and colorist Trisha (Cynthia Stevenson), spaced-out inker Chad Pfefferie (Timothy Fall), self-esteem challenged gofer Albie Lutz (Andrew Bilgore), old-timer Iris Frankel (Ruth Kobart), and Harlan’s pushy girlfriend Shayla (Christine Dunford).
