A “surf noir” drama co-created by Deadwood’s David Milch.
The series tells the story of the Yosts, a seemingly cursed family of legendary surfers. The abilities of young teenager Shaun (Greyson Fletcher) rival those of his derelict father Butchie (Brian Van Holt) and his withdrawn grandfather Mitch (Bruce Greenwood). Grandmother Cissy (Rebecca De Mornay) strives for Shaun to achieve both commercial and athletic success, making up for the failures of her husband and son.
When a mysterious stranger named John (Austin Nichols) enters their lives, the lives of the Yosts and those around them begin to change in incredible ways.
Other characters include retired officer Bill Jacks (Ed O’Neill), surf agent Linc Stark (Luke Perry), mentally unstable Barry Cunningham (Matt Winston), lawyer Meyer Dickstein (Willie Garson), and surfer Kai (Keala Kennelly).
