Behind the Scenes
| • | The series sort of inspired an Aquaman spin-off named Mercy Reef in 2006. Alan Ritchson played the character in a fifth season episode of Smallville and it was the highest-rated episode of the season. Smallville creators Miles Millar and Alfred Gough developed a pilot starring Justin Hartley but was not picked up as a series and was never aired on television. Hartley soonafter made recurring appearances on Smallville as Green Arrow and Ritchson later made a reappearance as Aquaman. |
| • | Several actors from past incarnations of Superman series and movies have made appearances on Smallville. They include Dean Cain, Margot Kidder, Christopher Reeve, Helen Slater, and Terence Stamp. O’Toole played Lana Lang in the Superman II film. |
