Jeff Cahill (Justin Bartha) is an idealistic young English teacher at the fictitious Filmore High School in New Jersey. Jeff’s enthusiasm is put to the test by a lack of school funds, outdated rules, indifferent students, and apathetic colleagues. Staffers include gym and physics teacher Dick Green (Phil Hendrie), drama teacher Calvin Babbitt (Deon Richmond), math teacher Mitch Lenk (Matt Winston), Latina Tina Torres (Sarah Shahi), and cold-hearted Principal Emma Wiggins (Kali Rocha). Jeff’s only kindred spirit (and crush) is British history teacher Alice Fletcher (Sarah Alexander).
