The Book of Daniel
This controversial drama follows the life of Episcopal Reverend Daniel Webster (Aidan Quinn) in the fictional small town of Newbury, New York.
Daniel has more than his share of daily challenges with family members like alcoholic wife Judith (Susanna Thompson), 23-year-old gay Republican son Peter (Christian Campbell), 16-year-old rebellious daughter Grace (Alison Pill), and 16-year-old adopted Chinese son Adam (Ivan Shaw) who is dating the daughter of prejudice parishioners. Bishop Beatrice Congreve (Ellen Burstyn) is involved with Daniel’s married father and retired bishop (James Rebhorn) who must deal with his wife’s Alzheimer’s disease.
With all this, it’s no wonder that Daniel has become addicted to painkillers and frequently seeks advice from a vision of Jesus Christ (Garret Dillahunt) that only he can see.
