666 Park Avenue: Cancelled by ABC

666 park avenue canceledTo little surprise, ABC has cancelled 666 Park Avenue, their struggling Sunday night series. While the network will air all 13 episodes, there won’t be any after that. In addition, ABC also cancelled Last Resort today and CBS canned Partners.

666 Park Avenue follows a Midwest couple who’ve moved to New York City. They end up managing The Drake, a prestigious residential hotel that’s not as nice a building as it seems. The TV series features the talents of Terry O’Quinn, Vanessa Williams, Dave Annable, Rachael Taylor, Robert Buckley, Mercedes Masöhn, Helena Mattsson, Samantha Logan, and Erik Palladino.

The show debuted on September 30th, in ABC’s troubled Sundays at 10pm timeslot. The premiere’s ratings weren’t very impressive, attracting a mediocre 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.9 million total viewers. That was 30% lower than what Pan Am had registered a year earlier.

666 Park Avenue TV show supportPark Avenue’s numbers have gotten even worse since the debut. The coveted demographic dropped to a 1.7 rating in week two (down 19%) and a 1.5 rating in week three (down another 12%). The ratings perked up a bit in weeks four (a 1.7 rating) and five (a 1.6 rating) but dropped to a 1.2 rating last Sunday.

But, what do you think? Should ABC have cancelled 666 Park Avenue? Will you miss the show?

It was much better than most other shows. I wonder if the Neilsen ratings themselves have a bias… Might be a different kind of person who lets people know what they watch.

I really love watching 666. This show is so different and really holds my attention. The actors are wonderful and the show is so well done. Please give it a chance. I can think of so many of those reality shows that should be cancelled but keep living on. Please don’t cancel this show.

Please give 666 Park Avenue time to develop. I don’t understand why the networks don’t like the early airings viewing ratings so they decide to cancel. 666 is so much better than Pan Am. I have watched it from the beginning, and will continue to watch it. You have nothing to replace 666 with, so please give it a chance to get going. It’s a great show. And if you do cancel, please no more American Idol shows…those are all shit.

I am also upset ABC is cancelling 666 Park Ave. Yes I was a little nervous when it first started but have now gotten very involved with the show. I also loved Pan Am. It appears as though any show that is not a lawyer or medical based is out the door while some dumbed down no brainer remain as a favorite. Yes the show is spooky but at least it has some decent writing and some great acting. Why does ABC always cancel and leave us in the middle of a series. If they cancel Revenge or Once Upon A Time I am through with ABC!

I honestly loved the show and it kept me wanting more. It was just shown on the wrong network. If it would have been on another network it would have fared well. It just met the wrong audience. I agree that FX would have been better option. ABC shows draw a different crowd. I watch USA Network and FX all the time and I am usually not a big fan of ABC’s show lineup so I avoid it all together. I hope this show gets picked up by another network. Maybe a new network can resurrect this hidden gem. Hopefully…ABC knows this was a great show. That’s why they’re letting the season play out because they want to see if it picks up before letting another network shows interest.

Please don’t cancel 666 Park Ave!!!!!!!!!!! It is one of our favorite shows!!!!!! Good shows need time to develop their story lines. This cancellation will further strengthen my decision to watch anything on the ABC network and sister newtorks.

Its sad that ABC always cancel good shows. I watched every episode either online or on demand. Dang ABC give a show more than 7 episodes! Its funny that stupid reality shows like Honey BOO BOO and Keeping up with the Kardatians stay on but interesting shows like this get canceled before it even gets fully into the plot. Hey ABC executives we don’t all work 9-5 and watch shows when they air! FYI its also in crappy time slot! I think TBS should pick this show up like they did cougar town and market it as Seriously Suspenseful! ABC where good shows go to die!!! Haha! I think tv gone into the crapper lately…very few good shows on anymore…

You’re so right! They never give shows enough episodes to get into the plot. It’s not on tv where I live so I’ve always had to watch it online, but that does sound like a crappy time slot. ABC are shit!
