666 Park Avenue: Cancelled by ABC

666 park avenue canceledTo little surprise, ABC has cancelled 666 Park Avenue, their struggling Sunday night series. While the network will air all 13 episodes, there won’t be any after that. In addition, ABC also cancelled Last Resort today and CBS canned Partners.

666 Park Avenue follows a Midwest couple who’ve moved to New York City. They end up managing The Drake, a prestigious residential hotel that’s not as nice a building as it seems. The TV series features the talents of Terry O’Quinn, Vanessa Williams, Dave Annable, Rachael Taylor, Robert Buckley, Mercedes Masöhn, Helena Mattsson, Samantha Logan, and Erik Palladino.

The show debuted on September 30th, in ABC’s troubled Sundays at 10pm timeslot. The premiere’s ratings weren’t very impressive, attracting a mediocre 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.9 million total viewers. That was 30% lower than what Pan Am had registered a year earlier.

666 Park Avenue TV show supportPark Avenue’s numbers have gotten even worse since the debut. The coveted demographic dropped to a 1.7 rating in week two (down 19%) and a 1.5 rating in week three (down another 12%). The ratings perked up a bit in weeks four (a 1.7 rating) and five (a 1.6 rating) but dropped to a 1.2 rating last Sunday.

But, what do you think? Should ABC have cancelled 666 Park Avenue? Will you miss the show?

I truly can not beleive this show is not coming back on air!
I understand ratings may have dipped but that doesn’t take away from the quality of that thriller and it deserves a chance to prove it self.
Everyone here in my office is behind me on this and we are looking for MORE.

Those stupid idiots. Remind me not to bother with ABC any more, with decisions like this. One of the best shows in a long time. They always keep the crap and get rid of the really interesting programs. They don’t know how to market their shows so that people have a chance to even know it’s on. Dumb!

Yet another of my favs cancelled. WTH? Get rid of crappy reality shows, get some good programming that challenges the mind, like 666 Park Avenue, and maybe, just maybe, people will start to watch ABC again. It was #1 all thru the 70s – and has tanked since then. Can’t live in the glory days, ABC (CBS, NBC, etc.). You need quality programming to get quality viewership.

I think it’s a shame that ABC cancelled 666 Park Avenue. It was a great show. Everyone I know was watching it & loved it. ABC CAN CANCEL A good show like this one but keep renewing those stupid reality shows. They sound like a bunch of goof balls.

Why is it that all the great shows are taken off the air before their time.
This was a fantstic show! If you want to take someting off the air, take off the reality shows! The net works are getting too money hungry and their pockets are getting to deep. Reality shows are less expensive to make. That is why reality shows are taking over. Many of us want a great show show to watch such as 666 Park Ave. ,Secret Circle etc. What do we get instead lots and lots of reality shows and other shows that don’t cost the network hardly anything. Give us back our show. Listen to the public for once

I’m so sad to hear that this show was cancelled. I loved it! I’m not a big fan of anything scary but I thought it was great and looked forward to Sunday nights at 10pm. :( I also loved Last Resort and cant believe ABC is taking yet again another show off the air that I love so much…So sad!

I liked the show too, and yes, I will miss it.
As Cheryl noted, it was different and so often once a new show comes on, every network has a clone of it. 666 was a nice diversion from all the same things.

I loved 666, it was nice having a show to watch that was different. I can’t believe that every show I like gets cancelled. Oh, let’s put on more stupid comedies that make me sick, they are so stupid. Who gets to vote on these shows? No one ever asks my opinion.

Loved this show. I’m extremely disappointed to see that it has been cancelled. Great supernatural premise without blood, gore and weird creatures! Well written and interesting…..

Loved this show. My husband & I wait for this every Sunday night right after Once Upon a Time of which we also love. Was looking to see when this is going to be aired & found out it was canceled. Loved the Secret Circle, too & that was canceled also. I guess there wasn’t enough sex & bloody violence for any of these! We don’t have the upgraded cable channels (just basic) so this was our movie entertainment. Why do your network people do this to us? Does every episode have to be bringing in top dollars? What a shame……
