TV show description:
This sci-fi police drama takes place 35 years into the future, in the year 2048. It’s a world in which police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids.
Detective John Kennex (Karl Urban) is a cop who’s survived one of the most catastrophic attacks ever made against the police department. He wakes up after a 17-month coma. He can’t remember much — except that his partner was killed. He’s lost one of his legs and is now outfitted with a highly sophisticated synthetic appendage. He suffers from depression, mental atrophy, trauma-onset OCD, PTSD and the “psychological rejection of his synthetic body part.”
John returns to work at the encouragement of his longtime ally, Captain Sandra Maldonado (Lili Taylor). Every cop must now be paired with a robot and, despite his passionate aversion to androids, John is no exception.
He’s partnered with a battle-ready MX-43 model. He abruptly terminates this pairing after the robot discovers incriminating information about him. As a result, technician Rudy Lom (Mackenzie Crook) introduces John to Dorian (Michael Ealy), a discontinued android with unexpected emotional responses.
Although these responses were deemed flaws, it’s these “flaws” that John relates to Dorian most — John is part-machine and Dorian is part-human. John and Dorian’s understanding of each other not only complements them, it connects them.
As he adjusts to working with his new partner, John also must learn to get along with his new colleagues, like the sharp and insightful human intelligence analyst Detective Valerie Stahl (Minka Kelly) and Detective Richard Paul (Michael Irby), a distrustful man who doesn’t welcome John back with open arms.
Episode #13 – Straw Man
Kennex and Dorian revisit the past when a string of murders are similar to those committed by a serial killer who was put in jail by Kennex’s father. Dorian gets his first performance review after being reactivated.
First aired: March 3, 2014.
What do you think? Do you like the Almost Human TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for another season?
Bring it back!
Maybe you should have asked us if we liked it before you cancelled it. This is a great show! Who makes these decisions to cancel anyway? I’m about to stop watching regular TV completely… At least I can finish a book.
I am so upset that this show is cancelled! My boyfriend & I absolutely loved it! Hope another network is smart enough to pick it up!
My favorite show!! Cannot believe they find not keep this one — never missed it and DVR’d so could watch again. Hope someone Eloise picks it up…hello Syfy
This show was awesome!!! Fox is stupid for not continueing with this great show!!!
It was a great show. Why was it cancelled? That was stupid.
BRING IT BACK.
This was a great show.! It needs to be brought back.
Bring it back
Totally agree. The characters, the acting, the subplots, the futuristic science & technology, the visuals, the morality, and the themes all combined to deliver a highly entertaining show that was also thought provoking.
What was to become of the potential romance? What else were we to learn about the robotic partner? And a dozen other subplots that you just knew were going to be dealt with.
Maybe it was just a little too sophisticated for the average viewer.
YES . . . FOX YOU SUCK !!! I liked this show a lot, characters were interesting, stories were great, and FOX has a habit off dropping really great shows after only a few episodes. I am so sick and tired of those ridiculous reality shows, its almost impossible to find a good drama these days. I’m not sure what type of people watch those mind-numbing reality/game shows . . . I wish FOX would just give Almost Human another chance. There are millions of people like myself who appreciate good quality drama.
My husband and I loved this show!! I cannot believe this show has not been renewed. It was great!!
I can’t believe Fox is keeping showed Weymouth much less viewership. Almost Himan had more than Mindy project, glee, Bob’s Burgers, following, Simpson’s,butt they are renewed. How can that be. I agree it is time to stop the reality madness.
This was a great show and it was different than anything on TV. Do they keep it? NO! Idiots!!! They finally had something that the other networks didn’t have, and the show was just getting started, it would have been a good one and definitely made Monday a great night. Oh well, back to CBS.
wonderful shoe, sorry it was cancelled
Brilliant series. I have really enjoyed watching this up to now and am really disappointed to hear it is to be cancelled. I hope that someone else will pick this up and run with it.
This show (almost human) is one show that I actually watch. I was so ready for a second season. Please SyFy pick this up!
What an absolute shame. JJ Abrahms does amazing shows and this shouldn’t have been cancelled. Maybe syfy or hulu could pick it up. So impossible to find a good show these days. These were characters worthy of further development. No wonder fox sucks these days. Maybe the producers can make a movie of it to finish some of the loose ends like with John and Anna similar to what happened when Firefly was abruptly cancelled after one season. Though I am not sure enough people are fighting for this show like they did for Firefly.
I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!! PLEASE SCI-FI pick this show up. I heard that FOX (F-ers) killed the show just because Carl Urban asked a question!!! Are you F-ing kidding me?!!!!
FOX OFFICIALLY SUCKS EXCEPT FOR FAMILY GUY AND AMERICAN DAD AND BOB’S BURGERS.
