Alphas: Has the Syfy TV Show Been Cancelled? [Updated]

Alphas season three or canceled?Fans of Syfy’s Alphas have been waiting patiently to find out if the TV series will be back for a third season. Apparently they’re not alone.

Yesterday, actor Ryan Cartwright (autistic Gary Bell on the show) tweeted, “Wow. Won’t know about #AlphasS03 until next year :x”

Then, earlier today, he wrote, “Gonna assume #Alphas is cancelled. #TooLongToWait :(”

What do you think? Is Cartwright correct or just not being patient enough?

UPDATE: It seems that Cartwright might have caught some flack and tweeted, “Deleted the #Alphas tweet. Was informed that they’re still deliberating. Will reapply crossed fingers for a 3rd season. #AlphasS03!!!”

I just finished season 2 of Alphas on Netflix and am truly irritated that they left the show like they did. I would have never even watched it if I would have known it would not continue.

RE: Last Man Standing | Alpha TV Series Commentary: S1, S2 & Bid For a S3

    Hi there,

    Alphas’s third season’s (S3’s) cancellation ….. need not prove the series’s terminus.

Instead, it could and should be revived, ASAP, post a “Lessons Learned” development (DEV) workshop, so to speak.

That said, as already aired in numerous of the comments hereto, it occurs to me that certain improvements would go far to improve the show. For example, Rachael’s (whiny nasal accent) and Kat’s (high pitch and awkward cadence) voices ought to mature …..

CHARACTERS | Casting: Alpha TV Series
Likewise, Gary’s ubiquitous “protracted/perpetual (but unbelievable) prepubescent striped tee-shirts” routine (get a new stylist) falls flat, and Kat’s grimacing/glowering “clever” squeamish-smile “acting” proves counter-productive: it conveys …. vapidness; among other irritants eg, Rosen’s affected “omniscient intelligent glare” affectations, oft prove quizzically absurd or even comical to even the most, otherwise, ardent viewers.

Alas, the well cast and finely wrought megalomania “charm” of “Stanton Parish” (SP) — as overheard, while awaiting public transportation, commented by a 30’s something attractive gal, speaking to what appeared to be her coworkers (synthetic life bio-engineers) — carries; her remark being that SP appears by design redolent of … ‘err …. a “younger brother” manifestation of Charles Manson, no less.

    Yikes, but apt.

That said, missed are Nina, Cameron (Hicks), and Bill ….. along with the others, despite the latter characters’ and/or actors’ (their) short-comings.

    PLOT | Story: DEV
Indeed, the story’s arc, pace, and presentation (lighting, scenes, and time-lines’ tessellations), aptly embellish the oft incisive, caustic, and engaging themes, while at other times, certain of the salient, if somewhat tacit tenets {[which can and do conflict]; apparently, several writers are at work over S1 and S2, whom hold and insinuate into the show’s point-of-view, episode dependent, conflicting geopolitical/economic/scientific-views}, shed era (on our own) specific commentary, parody, and sarcasm ….. on our own …. which may “time dance” well into any emergent “real world” Orwellian future state [syndication …. years from now], and its concurrent use of encyclopedic allusions to antecedent sci-FY films, TV series, and books of that ilk — particularly late 1960’s psychedelic hits (songs) — enhance Alpha’s series appeal and smiles ratings.

It needs an expanded sound-track and would benefit from improved “orchestration”: music …. amped bumpers/transitions. Its current lighting and camera, though not enough, avail innovative complexity, but in too few instances, provides a slam-dunk juxtaposition “time-dance” that cleverly informs views of plot (actions … how the story unfolds), and relationships among characters, themes and foreshadowing …..

Yet, for all that, the show’s creators ought to pay special heed to the too-great-amount of clatter-y-chaos and “bully noises” eg, shouting ……… that hardly suffices as either an effective or efficient scenes’ transition device, but comes off as more pointless commotion/convolution filler: ouch.

Go ahead, rewind aka re-watch many of S1’s and S2’s episodes, and that plague/flaw becomes all to readily apparent: cantankerous.

Perhaps, the optimal “revival” approach would be capture and release of a motion picture, as “series pre-re-launch” …. hm: roster of possible titles … (‘err):
“Gary’s Resonance”; “Nobody’s Home”; “Shock & Fall”; “Vibe”; “Charged”; “Excited”; “Flee | Next”; “Switched” …. get it? Good scoring, with a bit more of the “x-factor” edge-of-one’s seat appeal, redolent of the ’90’s X-File’s series brand may go far to enrich the show’s texture, and promote interest across a broader viewership.

Sharpened edges would make the show/franchise a hands-down winner hire me; knocking off several of the current brood of characters, while weaving in new ones — a well honed technique and finely wrought phenomenon, witnessed in the very successful TV series “Lost” and “The Walking Dead”, while moving into new directions, would turn S3 into a super hot, leaner winner.

Cut the fat and Alphas losses.

    Best regards,

I loved the show. Like we need more reality shows, why not get rid a few of those.

I mean Showtime ended Odyssey 5 and it was it biggest grossing show ever and no explanation or anything. Same with shows like Terra Nova and Firefly.

Can’t someone else pick up these kind of shows. They just leave them hanging.

This is a great show! Im hoping for a 3rd season or for NETFLIXs to save it like it did Arrested Development and some others. This show is way better!

  6. Rachael says

I find alphas on Netflix. Get right into it..only to find it ends after season 2 on the most irritating cliff hanger ever….wtf.
Least make a third season and finish it off properly

  7. Ellen Marino says

Give me a break. How could SyFy cancel Alphas.? Every time an imaginative series appears TV station brainiacs think we need yet another stupid reality show, so they cancel something that possesses creativity and good writing. DON’T SUPPORT SYFY IF THEY DON’T BRING BACK ALPHAS FOR A THIRD SEASON!

  8. says

Why is it they cancel a badass show such as alphas after or only two seasons and leave all viewers waiting in suspense for almost a year just to cancel it **** you syfy if you didn’t have being human and defiance I’d cancel my syfy channel
