America’s Funniest Home Videos: Season 24 Renewal

americas funniest home videos renewedTom Bergeron may not be as busy on Dancing with the Stars next season but he’ll still have two TV series to host. ABC has renewed America’s Funniest Home Videos for a 24th season.

The program is one of the network’s lowest-rated shows but has been a fixture of the network’s Sunday schedule for many years and is no doubt quite inexpensive to produce.

This season, AFV has averaged a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.45 million total viewers. THat’s down slightly from last season which averaged a 1.6 in the demo and 6.59 million.

What do you think? Are you a regular AFV viewer? How long have you been watching? Do you think this show is still as enjoyable?

YouTube and Vine are sufficing most of the millennial generation’s need foe funny videos. You can chose your own type of funny and stay laughing. Its hard to highlight such old videos and they are subjective to the choosing of the production team and what they think is funny. Also we don’t like the commentary! Let the funny video speak for it self. Nothing like having your sister tell you the funny part before the show gets there. I think they should partner with Google and make it a blockbuster. There is so much opportunity in the franchise. I also think licensing should be in the cards. The apps could be funny and rival vine. Sift through user submissions for the purpose of making them more relevant by using the videos’ analytics. Videos that are trending would likely draw in TV viewers. Finally pick a real up and coming comedian to do basic hosting and captions, get them involved in social media.

This was the best family show. Why do they have to cancel something that is so great for a whole family to watch.

my favorite show…it always makes me laugh, and we all could use a lot more of that.
