Army Wives: Cancelled by Lifetime; No Season Eight

Army Wives canceledLifetime has cancelled Army Wives, their long-running drama, after seven seasons. While there won’t be an eighth season, the cable channel has plans for a two-hour retrospective special with castmembers which will air in early 2014.

Army Wives follows the lives of a diverse group of women living with their spouses and families on an active Army post. Created by Katherine Fugate, the series has starred Catherine Bell, Kim Delaney, Sally Pressman, Wendy Davis, Brigid Brannagh, Kelli Williams, Brian McNamara, Sterling K. Brown, Brooke Shields, Ashanti, Torrey DeVitto, Elle McLemore, Jesse McCartney, Terry Serpico, Drew Fuller, Alyssa Diaz, J.J. Soria, Joshua Henry and Burgess Jenkins.

Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Lifetime, said, “There is no denying how special Army Wives has been to both Lifetime and the television landscape. By taking on a very relevant and timely issue, it has brilliantly captured the challenges our military families endure and the bravery they and their loved ones display while serving our country.”

What do you think? Are you sorry that there won’t be an eighth season of Army Wives? Do you think the special should wrap up the storylines in some way?

There are so many issues today relevant to what is happening in the Middle East. You are wasting a wonderful opportunity to bring them to life on this excellent series, Army Wives. There was little closure on your last episode. There are lots of us out there who appreciate good drama and the dealing of real life problems.

Can’t believe this show was cancelled. So good and true to life. With all the reality shows out there, this was such a treat to watch. Even with the newer characters, it all just fell into place. Really disappointed in the Lifetime channel.

I’ve been watching Army Wives from the beginning. So many of us are shocked that you are canceling the show and saddened even more. Please reconsider renewing the show we are so disappointed in lifetime and the shows you have on, and now you are taking that off. Shame on you. PLEASE BRING ARMY WIVES BACK

Having been active duty Army and meeting my husband while we were both stationed overseas this was the most accurate and enlightening account of military life ever. We both loved this show and hate to see it come to an end. In fact, although I dreaded the need to change characters I can tell you that after 36 years of working for the Army both in the states and overseas that this is exactly what happens to military families and the friends they make along the years.

This latest change of characters just continued to emulate military life. It is a shame to end it now.

I can’t believe this, i have been waiting on the show to start this season. I LOVE this show, i have watched it fromt he beginning and can’t belive you’re ending it and esp. endign it this way makes it even worse. PLEASE figure something out and continue the show, even if we have to wait until beginning of 2014 for it to start back.

I’ve been watching Army Wives from the beginning, and i’m finally loving the newest characters from the last 2 seasons. can you tell me why you are canceling the show? Can you at least have a maybe 2hour ending of the show, so we have a closer to the show. So many of us are shocked that you are canceling the show and saddened even more if you don’t have some kind of a closer show. Please reconsider canceling the show. It is and has been for the last 7 years been 1 of my favorite shows. thank you for reading my comment. A big fan of Army Wives, Norma Schick.

What! No season 8! After I’ve gotten attached to the new characters! Gloria finally making up her mind, the Montclair’s getting to stay in the Army, and Tim having a breakdown. Come on give me something good so i can have closure.

My husband and I loved this series. We thought it was accurate as to military lifestyle. We are two Army Retirees.

I’m sorry the show was canceled–I have to say that when I first heard that Army Wives was being canceled I was relieved–the show had gotten kind of dry and ‘repetitive’. As a real-life Army Wife I found certain aspects of it unrealistic and a little over-the-top in some ways (I still watched it though because it was one of only two TV shows I felt I could relate to in any way), but then I watched Season 7 on Netflix and I honestly felt like was the best season since Seasons 1 & 2. It was starting to get interesting again and the new characters had so much left to be developed. I’m not sure how the show will be able to be ‘wrapped up’ in just a couple of hours when there were so many new plot lines opening throughout Season 7 and in it’s finale…I have a feeling that we may be left feeling as though things were never resolved–in at least some aspect.

I can honestly say now that I am truly sorry to see the show end, I was getting attached to the new characters and their families and would have like to see them developed more. So disappointing!

Please wrap up the story line! The show and the fans deserve it… could be something like the show October Road did, flash forward to where everyone is now type of thing. Or like Dallas have Denise wake up from a coma after the explosion at restaurant and have all the original characters standing there….something just give us an ending, please!
