As the World Turns: Petition to Save the Cancelled Soap

As the World Turns cancelledAfter more than 13,500 episodes, CBS has cancelled As the World Turns.

The company that actually owns the show, Proctor & Gamble, says they’d like to keep it going — perhaps online or via a cable channel. If you’d like to see the soap opera continue, let them know that you support their efforts and encourage them to keep searching to find a way to keep the show going. Here are some suggestions.

If you like the show, make sure that you tune in to watch it on CBS. Encourage your friends to do the same. The show’s decline in viewers is the reason why the show was cancelled. The higher the viewership, the more likely it is that P&G will be able to find a new home for the soap.

Consider buying P&G products. They make hundreds like Bounty, Bounce, Clairol, Crest, Dawn, Gillette, Head & Shoulders, Ivory, Mr. Clean, Old Spice, Pampers, and Pringles. You can visit their site to see the full list. You probably buy some already.

Sign the petition below and let P&G know that you’ve signed it. Spread the word.

Write to P&G and let them know how you feel about the show. Tell that you’re buying their products and which ones you like. Are you a stockholder? Let them know. Be respectful and polite. The company obviously want to be able to keep Light going if they can profit from it. It can be a win-win situation for everyone. You can email or, better yet, write a letter to:

    I used to watch ATWT with my Great Grandmother and later with my college friends. Even though it's been off a while, I still miss it and would love to see it back.

    I am also a third generation ATWT fan. TV is not the same without Oakdale and I have missed it dearly. How about a reunion show around the holidays to see what happens? I know it would be successful. Win-win for everyone.

    I can't believe this ! Why can't they cancel other daytime shows..I grew up with ATWT, Y&R, Bold & Beautiful...should find away to bring it back.....

    with all the trash talk shows and silly other shows on tv, i really miss atwt. I am sure that there is something that can be done to get the gang back. I watched the show for 20 plus years. I would dvr every day to watch at night because night time is not very good. It has been off the air for so long and I still wish I could come home and see what happened on the show. I also watch BB. Please find the way to get it back on the air.

    It' been two stinging long years since we lost ATWT. The best soap on CBS. The two soaps that are left are no comparison to ATWT, and they are still there, I say these two soaps are not equal to ATWT and they go on. CBS, you stink for canceling ATWT. YOU forgot all the money that thiis soap made for you and when it needed a little help you turn your back on this wonderful soap, shame on you. ATWT was a great soap, it only needed new writers to bring this soap back to it's rich history and to bring the fan favorites, like KIm, Bob, Lisa, Barbara,Susan, Emily, Holden, the original Lily, Lucinda and others to the front burner. Instead you turn your back. I hate this network, and I pray that CBS will fail so what goes around comes around, because everyday at 2pm it still hurts and CBS is to blame. Les Moonves, you suck like a rotten tomateo.

    I can't believe just because a show is no longer "viable", you cancel it! As The World Turns is an icon! Aren't you rich enough CBS? You really can't leave one show alone because it is losing money? I am 44 years old. I got hooked on this show when I was a toddler watching it with my Mom, ATWT is like family to me. And to replace it with such a ridiculous show as "The Talk" is INSANE! Four or five fat, ugly women giving advice about love and life to other women......................really? They actually need to find love and "get lives" themselves before they can give advice! Some shows such as ATWT deserve to stay on the air simply because they are part of television history! One of the 1st shows ever on TV, and one of the longest shows ever to run, and you cut it because of ratings..............disgusting! Survivor is the biggest joke of a TV show out there, that is what you should cut! If those people were dropped on an island for 30 days with ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, that would be a show, that would be surviving! To provide all of their needs? How is that surviving? That is a free, paid vacation away from there real lives, IT'S A JOKE! BRING ATWT BACK!
