Avatar: The Last Airbender: Nickelodeon Planning Sequel TV Show, Legend of Korra

Avatar: The Last AirbenderThough The Last Airbender movie hasn’t been as big a hit as the studio had hoped, the animated TV show on which it was based, Avatar: The Last Airbender, continues to be very popular. It’s not surprising then that a sequel animated series is in the works.

Nickelodeon has announced that the new TV show is expected to debut in 2011. The working title is The Legend of Korra.

Korra will build on the mythology of the original Avatar: The Last Airbender show and comes from creators Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko. The story will focus on a teenage girl avatar named Korra who is headstrong and hotheaded. It’s believed that the show will take place 100 years after the original series.

What do you think? Are you a fan of the Avatar series? Are you looking forward to the sequel show?

I got hooked to the avatar: the last airbender last month. Watched every episode. I love it so much I am watching every episode over again. I like avatar: the legend of korra, but not like the last airbender which blew my mind. The movie sucked though. Its better in cartoon form. I wish they would bring back the last airbender. I would never stop watching it. Aang, Sokka, Katara, Zuko, Toph, Uncle, Appa, and Momo are amazing! I am so sad everyone is gone :(

Meh, i dont know, i thoroughly enjoyed the original series and those characters… Starting afresh makes it look like the show wasnt such a success when it really was. I know there isnt really much they could do after the defeat of the fire lord but i mean, im sure there are things people could think of. This new avatar will not have the same feel as aang and his gang.

i never watched the movie…..didnt want to ruin the series for me. was that a good idea? what i think might happen and sounds cool is if we see aang training the new avatar. something like that. and then the rise of azula or something like that against the new avatar. unless water isnt next in the avatar cycle. otherwise I feel this could be alot cooler if the main character wasnt(as mentioned before) headstrong and ready to take on the world or whatever

what happen to zuko finding his mom. that definately seemed like a hole in the end of the last episode to set up for a good special or something. I would love to see more of that. otherwise I hope this new avatar alludes to a lot of angs adventures and

I’m definately looking forward to it! I would like to know what happened to Aang and the gang, but maybe we’ll found out. Anyway, I’m looking forward to it. I’m a major fanatic of Avatar: the Last Airbender, so I can’t wait!

I was hoping for the original gang to help Zuko find his mother, and maybe has issues with an escaped Azula or something, but this might be something to look forward to!

Im really stoked for the new avatar series to come out. Although Im a little disappointed at the whole *this woman is headstrong and ready to take on the world* kind of thing…How come she just cant be a regular woman? Why does she need to be headstrong and whatever. . .hell even Aang wasn’t all like that, he was a bit wimpy for most of the chapter in my opinion, Why is it nowadays that only the women can be strong and tough heroes while the men are forced to be wimpy 12 year olds who trip over themselves because of a girl they have a Crush on?

Im all for girl power and all that jazz but why does it seem that girl power has to come at the expense of a strong male lead character as well? I just don’t get it.
