It wasn’t a great start for the new series but Awake still outperformed the premieres of (essentially-cancelled) The Firm, and (cancelled) The Playboy Club, and Prime Suspect. If the show can stay at this level of ratings, it’s got a very good chance of being renewed for a second season. It’s amazing how poor a show’s ratings can be on NBC and still be one of the best rated shows on the network.

Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.

What do you think? Do you like the Awake TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?

This was not a very smart cancellation. This show is well done and makes people think. Perhaps that was the problem.
The show was not given enough time to build an audience.
With all the fake “reality” shows and amateur hours on network TV, it’s no wonder most thinking people are watching subscriber cable networks.

I loved this show. Even if I had to miss it on occasion I would catch it online.
It was well written, casted and intelligent. Please don’t make me have to get rid of another good show. :(

Awake is one of THE BEST written and absorbingly interesting shows on tv. Stimulating! The chemistry of the characters is MAGIC! How can channel 4 not recognize a hit on their hands? Ah but then they got rid of Conan and brought back negative jay. Hmmm How unfortunate on many levels. Love that fully CONSCIOUS show. Hey channel 4 WAKE UP! If I promised to sit through commercials would you keep it on? Pretty please with a cherry on top?

Awake is one of my favorite shows. The plot is complex, the writing is great, and so are the actors. Plus the main actor is so sexy. Don’t cancel this show.

We loved Awake! It is (was?) very intriguing and kept you awake :) and many times, on the edge of your seat………so many more stories could be written! Oh I wish some channel would grab it quick while everyone is still available………….what a loss for us who can’t stand the usual crappy “reality” shows………….

Awake is an amazing show that I connect with personally on multiple levels — as a person who has recently lost someone close to me, as well as a father trying to connect with his son. This show not only hits home emotionally, but is extremely stimulating from an intellectual standpoint as well. I am not a big fan of TV and get hooked on a show about once every five years. Awake was that show for me and it’s unfortunate that the ride has ended so abruptly. I don’t know that posting on these boards will keep the show going (as I’m sure NBC execs don’t read into this stuff), but I want to express my appreciation to those who created and executed the show. It has been a great ride, and although brief, has given me perspective during a time of mourning. Although I am upset that NBC will cancel this show (I’m sure it somehow makes sense in terms of ROI), I am thankful the network has given us even a half season of Awake and it is a show that I am better off having experienced. After all, it is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all. I would like to believe that our protagonist Michael Britton would agree.
