Though Caprica hasn’t exactly been a ratings hit, Syfy wants to keep the Battlestar Galactica universe alive. A new online prequel series, Blood & Chrome, is in the works.
According to Mo Ryan, Blood & Chrome will center around the experiences of a young William “Husker” Adama in the first Cylon War. Caprica’s co-executive producer, Mark Stern, will script the series and follow “a young man’s initiation into war: both the realities of war as fought by soldiers on the ground (and in Battlestars and Vipers), and the somewhat less real version portrayed in the media.”
For now, Blood & Chrome is expected to consist of nine or 10 installments that run about 10 minutes each. The plan is to use “cutting-edge digital technology and special effects” to depict the war. If the project gets an okay, filming will take place using green screens and virtual sets. Before BSG ended, high-resolution scans were made of the show’s sets so they can be used by the special effects team.
If the project gets a greenlight, it’s unknown if Nico Cortez would play young Adama, as he did in the Razor prequel. The online series could feature another character from Razor but would largely feature a new cast.
Reportedly, if Blood & Chrome is a success, it could potentially become a backdoor pilot for a new TV series.
What do you think? Would you be interested in watching Blood & Chrome? Does it sound like a worthwhile regular TV show?

YES now i don’t have to contract with the tauron mafia to kill the syfy execs. its not off the table though, for those channel-ruining frakheads. pro wrestling? ghosts? WTF???
Can’t wait for it! After realizing that Caprica is just another boring soap-opera I’d like to have the real stuff back!
YES!!!
Absolutely!!!!!!!!!
I’d like to have both Caprica and Blood & Chrome on TV. I don’t watch anything online.
Outstanding! Bring back BSG, one of the all time greats!
This sounds great. If you have a problem with the way the BSG ended than you were not watching the same show as everyone else. It ended how it had to if you have a problem with it than you have to through out the entire arc of the show.
Keep it coming!!
I can not wait.
any new series better not have a finale as monumentally bad as the new BSG finale. i am still angry to this day about it.
Yeah give it a whirl. I think BSG had 1-2 seasons left in it. Caprica is pretty good, but was hoping it would be better. Still going to watch Caprica though, just like SyFy and different from other shows. But I wait until the season is over and will watch on Hulu or wait until my cousin buys the DVD and watch it then.
Yes I think it would be a great show
Absolutely. I’ll watch anything to do with BSG.
would definitely be interested in Blood & Chrome and hope it good enough for a new tv series. Have missed Battlestar very much since it ended.
yessss
