I am an Asian-American woman born in the early ’70s. After watching a couple of the re-runs of The Big Valley, I am absolutely in love with the show and all its characters. I have been going from Target to Best Buy to see if I can purchase all the DVDs…nothing available The characters (especially Peter Breck) made the show what it is. You definitely have to bring Linda Evans, Peter Breck, and Lee Majors back and incorporate them into the movie some how. I loved watching Linda Evans and Lee Majors because they were so beautiful and handsome respectively on screen. I would try to get home everyday to make it for the 3 o’clock (eastern) reruns on MeTV. The creators of this show is brilliant and anyone who can recreate it again would be a genius.

I have written a show that is set in the 1920′s which shows where each of the siblings are in life, complete with children and grandchildren. It would be a great way to actually bring back the original actors into the roles that they had original created. It takes into account the deaths of Stanwick and Long by having them be deceased and now buried along side of their late spouses and it also takes Breck’s failing health into account by having him only appear very briefly at the beginning and dying immediately. It also uses clips form original episodes as “flashbacks”. That way it incorporates the olf with the new.
I am looking forward to seeing The Big Valley movie when it comes out as I am a HUGE fan of ANYTHING Lee Majors has done or is doing. Even the crappy and corny stuff. I am undoubtly his BIGGEST fan!!!

My goodness we are such big fans of the big valley. I believe if they choose the right actors this can be a hit. Heath, Nick and Jarrod were heaven to watch. The women were such ladies. Do not ruin such a great idea by bringing in bad actors.

I would love to see a remake of the Big Valley. Linda Evans should be cast as Victoria Barkley. even though Peter Breck is ill, they should figure out a way to include him in the movie.

I think it would be GREAT to have the original actors in the new show!! I just saw my favorite Lee Majors talking about the show. It would be wonderful if it takes off and families start to watch the NEW series!!! Like Lee says… I hope they have a MAGNIFICENT writer to bring this WESTERN alive. yes indeed breck was quick tempered, growing up around his father tom , he should be more like tom than lee majors char heath, when I saw bg vlly I wanted to be heath, breck maybe could care less about acting now or is unable, from the biggest fan of the original.

I have to say that I like the original actors so much that I suspect I’ll be disappointed in the film.

I’ve been watching Big Valley reruns lately and it’s amazing how great an actor Peter Breck is–he’s extremely underrated.

‘The Big Valley’ and’ The Fugitive’ were my 2 favorite T.V shows, growing up. I thought Peter Breck as Nick Barkley made the show. He was superb in ‘ Night of the Wolf’ which was the best episode of the series, in my opinion. It co-starred Ronny Howard ( he had to have the best agent in Hollywood) and Nancy Olson. They were a very close family who argued alot ( especially Jarrod and Nick), but would stand by each other, when it was needed most. It was a well- casted show. Richard Long ( I could not believe it, when he passed away at 47), Linda Evans and Lee Majors were great in their roles, also. I cannot leave out Barbara Stanwyck who was fantastic as Victoria Barkley and was a screen legend. It would be great to have Linda Evans play Victoria in the movie, and have Lee Majors and Peter Breck be in it, as well. I cannot wait to see ‘The Big Valley’ on the big screen. It would bring back some great childhood memories.

I am one of the biggest fans of the show The Big Valley, and have always liked the part of Nick, And Linda Evans what a beautiful woman then and throughout the years, and a very good actress. I wholeheartedly agree that it would be fantastic to have Linda Evans play the part of Victoria, (though it probably will not happen). But I think that having Peter Breck, Lee Majors, and Linda Evans in the movie someway would be a automatic, no brainer.
I have had the thought in recent years that I should attempt to write a couple movies based around the show. One would be the early years of Tom and Victoria leaving the east in the early to mid 1840s for California from maybe the lead mining area of Wisconsin or Illinois up to the point when Tom returns back home from Strawberry after his affair with Heath’s mother and striking gold. The second one would be set about 1910 with Peter, Lee, and Linda resuming their characters and talking with one another about events in their lives of the last 40+/- years; where and how both Jarrod and Victoria had deceased, the three of them meeting their wives and husband, how Nick and Heath made it through those years.
I am very excited to see this new movie and what it is about, and if it is handled correctly with respect to the way the show was. I liked the theater movie Maverick, but toward the end became disappointed as it first seemed that there wasn’t going to be a twist at the end, but they pulled off at the very end anyway; excellent match to the show.

I love the Big Valley….best western ever. To me what made this show better than all the rest was the comraderie of the 3 brothers (by the way I am from 3 brothers) and the afluence of the Barkley clan. Nick was my favorite (if you’re listening Peter Breck) and Jarrod was fantastic. The cynergy was so great and I still to this day hope I hit the Powerball so I can recreate my life into the Barkley family. Linda Evans provided eye candy and a reason for the brothers to protect. Victoria was in charge and was the perfect matriarch. Even though I am in my 50′s I still watch Big Valley episodes. The 1st episode set the tone and I love the one with James Whitmore shooting the Craddock’s. Please make the remake. Can’t be as good as the first but push forward to make it happen!

I grew up watching this family western drama, it was a family event at our home. I have always been a fan of the actors as well as the series. I strongly feel a need to allow
previous actors to reprise there role in a show that allow them to be a part of my life, i hope many other fans feel as passionate about the original cast as well as the remake as I do. I’m looking foward to it,(having a HUGE crush on Mrs. Sarandon)

Great show although it clearly was based on Bonanza. Serandon doesn’t seem right. How about Jane Seymour? She is ageing nicely and is a great actress. Brill was probably dropped due to finances. Who needed him when the hunk Heath was such a huge hit. Nicole Sheridan would be a great Audra. Heath could be courting JLO. And Betty White needs to be somepne’s Grandmother. Then you would have a great movie. The four original stars from Bonanza are all gone so they better hurry with this one. The need to do a better job than they did with Miami Vice.

I think this was the best western of them all. The stories had depth, interest, and plenty of action; the acting was superb by the entire cast and all guests. My personal favorite was always Nick Barkley played by Peter Breck. For me, the show was at its best when he was a central figure in the story. I’m also a fan of Lee Majors. Richard Long and Barbara Stanwick were two of the best as well. Linda Evans was the most beautiful actress at this time and had a strong character in the series. I would have maintained Charles Briles as Eugene Barkley in the series as his character added interest as well. This was truly one of the best all-time westerns. The only thing they didn’t do right was keep it on the air.

Wow! I am so excited for the movie. I think Susan Sarandon is a great fill-in for the great Barbara Stanwyck. I am overly happy that Lee Majors will be in the movie and I hope the others (who are still w/us) will be able to be in the movie. When I was a kid me and my girlfriend use to watch the repeats(to young to have watch when it first came out) and we were addicted to it!! anyway I am so looking forward to the movie. P.S. I hope they find someone who, for the part of Heath, who can walk as sexy as Lee majors did.

I would also like to see Mr. Breck, Linda Evans and Charles Briles cast in the show even as minor roles or extras in the background whatever it takes to have them in it. I also hope they plan on casting Eugene and giving him a bigger role than what his role came to be down the road gone. I didn’t like how they exempted him. He could’ve been a good additive. He could’ve been there to give Heath a run for his money. Sandy.

Completely agree with the Rev. Husted. Susan Sarandon is a fine actress, but the
best way to honor Miss Barbara Stanwyck and the rest of the fine cast is to
leave the show alone. The characters cannot be replicated. In my opinion, Its like
remaking I Love Lucy without Lucille Ball. Given the lack of origianlity in Hollywood today, I guess that project will be next.

loved, loved, loved the show!!……the orginal cast will be hard to imitate, they were all so great, and gorgeous too!……….too bad sharon van der knapp is not an actor (that i know of, she’s a model), but her looks, from a photo i saw at a website called majorityrights.com and fanpix.net , seem to be a good match for the “audra” part, originally played by linda evans. she has the same longated face, long thin nose, wide, light blue “doe” eyes (maybe they’re contacts, but they are captivating), and pouty lips………………. i had also read at another website that maybe yvonne strahovski would be good for the role, so we’ll see, can’t wait!

With all due respect to Susan Sarandon, I cannot imagine anyone in the role of Victoria Barkley except Barbara Stanwyck, and I cannot envision Jarrod Barkley played by anyone except Richard Long! I was a freshmen in college when Big Valley premiered;
it carried me through four very special years. My parents gave me a tape recorder which I used to tape every episode, and eventually wore out the tape player listening to those two distinctive voices among the others in the cast. I had been a fan of Long’s since I was six years old. I have very mixed feelings about this movie. I think I would like to remember the Big Valley as it was: big, bold and brilliant!

At this time Mr. Breck would not be able to be in the movie…. It would be nice to see Ms. Evans and Mr.Briles were it possible.

I hope it does not stray far from what the show was, (leaving out the 2000 politics)…there are many of us who loved this show for a reason…so to lose that reason would be a shame. Many of us keep that part alive with the stories we do.

And just for the record, Mr. Briles part of Eugene was never really written out they just stopped mentioning him. leaving many of us wondering what had happened.
