Body of Proof: Will Cable Save the Cancelled Series?

Body of Proof canceledWhen ABC cancelled Body of Proof, word was that cable channels like USA, TNT, and WGA America were interested in picking up the show for a fourth season.

ABC network president Paul Lee even said, “I would love to see Body of Proof find a good home for itself. I love Dana Delany.”

The sentiment wasn’t really a surprise since ABC Studios (which produces the crime drama) has been making the show at a deficit. They have had success selling it overseas but a fourth season would bring the series closer to having enough episodes for a lucrative syndication package.

Unfortunately, a new home couldn’t be found and Body of Proof is staying cancelled.

Creator Matt Gross broke the bad news, writing, “Valiant effort from #abc studios to sell #bodyofproof to another net, Sad to report there will not be a season 4 TOD 5:24pm 5-22-13 RIP.”

He followed that up with, “We tried, tried and tried. No stone left unturned-No one wanted to keep this show on the air more than #abc studios & me-We’re all bummed.”

Following the news, Delaney tweeted, “Thank you to all who campaigned for #BodyOfProof4. 3rd most watched drama @ABCNetwork thanks to you. I will miss Dr Megan Hunt & Co. RIP”

What do you think? Do you wish that a cable channel had picked it up? Would you have watched the show on cable?

Amazing that trash reality shows featuring talentless egomaniacs can flourish and fabulous programs like Body of Proof and 666 Park Avenue get cancelled. Contact ABCs advertisers and tell them you intend to boycott their products.

I am a faithful watcher. ABC has a winner with this show. I don’t understand it not being pickup. Please continue to try to keep the show. How can it rate number 3 and be cancelled?

So, people are actually more ‘entertained’ by shows such as DWTS, the Bachelor/Bachelorette? Not me. Cheers to Dana Delaney and the cast and crew from Body of Proof. I remain hopeful one of the cable networks sees the merit in your show and continues the series.

the show went directly down hill when they added that Tommy guy he is not a likable guy like peter. The first two seasons were much better.

HOW DISAPOINTING…JUST WHEN THE CAST AND STORY LINES WERE
FINALLY COMING TOGETHER…AND, NOW TO BE REPLACED WITH JUST
ANOTHER SILLY, MINDLESS SOMETHING. I HOPE THAT BODY OF PROOF
WILL BE PLACED ON ONE OF THE “CABLE” NETWORKS….IT SEEMS TO BE
THE ONLY WAY WE CAN V IEW GOOD SHOWS WITH TALENTED ACTORS.

To bad another good show falls. Most of faithful viewers are 40 plus age.Maybe ABC should get older executives who are in charge of keeping shows on the air.

I love this show. The cast, as a group, have grown well together. Please keep trying to find it a new home!! And why didn’t ABC keep them and campaign better for them?? I don’t understand why it didn’t make it!!

It is obvious that the heads of ABC have their heads is far up their butts that thay cannot see daylight. They would rather have stupid survival and reality shows on that do not relate to true life. When it comes to intellectual shows they are not on the same course as the rest of the world. They should be the ones looking into the camera saying that they aren’t smarter than a sixth grader.

I would have definately watched it on a cable channel. It was one of my favorite shows and I loved watching Megan Hunt at her crime scenes with her beautiful dresses and shoes. I thought all of the actors were great and will miss watching the show.
