What a different a day or two can make. After cancelling Breaking In late on Tuesday night, FOX is reportedly reconsidering the decision.
FOX is in talks with Sony Pictures TV (the show’s studio) to find a way to possibly bring it back for a second season. No decision is expected to be made until after next week’s upfronts.
Breaking In debuted in early April to a healthy 3.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 9.82 million total viewers. With the exception of the fact that it lost a large percentage of the American Idol lead-in, that looked very good. The following week, the series fell 26% to a 2.6 rating and 7.79 million viewers.
Ratings fell a bit after that but seem to have evened off at a 2.4 rating. It’s the sixth highest-rated scripted series currently on the network and outperforms the network’s other two live-action comedies. Of course, it also has the best lead-in audience on television.
If Breaking In does get a renewal, this will be the second time that the Christian Slater comedy has cheated death. FOX initially passed on the Breaking In pilot last year but execs changed their minds and gave it a greenlight later on.
What do you think? Does Breaking In deserve a second season to prove itself?

We have just started with Breaking In – in South Africa really enjoying the show then someone told me it’s been cancelled. i don’t understand why good shows are cancelled – really enjoyed Chaos as well another cancellation. Yet other shows go on for years especially hospital shows which are BORING (all soapies like Army Wives, Grey’s Anatomy, private practice.)
YES!!!! it was one of the funny shows that was on it was crazy they took it off >.<
Breaking in was fantastic. How could they cancel a 1/2 hour show like this!!!???
Definitely bring the show back!!
I really enjoy this show. The humor, the acting and even the cheese. I would like to see this get another breath of life with some more promo to gain viewers. It is well written and would attract viewers in the off season as well when other networks are showing reruns. There are so many choices today and eventually you have to pick what to watch and what to DVR and not everything makes the cut for loyal viewers.
BRING IT BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, I want to see it come back I love the show and it shows the versatility of Micheal Rosenbaum as an actor. he is still a jerk, but this time a funny one. All the actors are awsome. BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!
Breaking In is one of the funniest shows I’ve seen in a long time. The cast is great and writing is hysterical. I never watch television shows more than once, but I’ve had this on my iPad and have watched it over and over.
I love this show and if they cancel it FOX needs to find new executives that have a sense of humor. If that show doesn’t make you laugh you are frickin dead inside.
