An excellent, modern, complex show. Beautifully acted, too. It’s a shame about the original low viewing numbers, there must have been something wrong with the way the show was promoted. If it had been shown in the UK on one of the major channels it would have gathered at least three times that number, easily.

I just came across this series my daughter was watching it one day and i sat down to watch it and i was hooked i watched every show dissappointed it no longer is on. I believe there is more , love to know how Tommy does as speaker and his wife how things go with the new baby and all and his 3 girls what becomes of them , and Michael just how long does he stay away ,so much more can go on and lets not forget mom .

I loved this show. I wonder if the viewership numbers represent a downward trend in cable television in general as Netflix, iTunes and other Internet formats take over. I mean I just started watching this series and with Apple TV and Netflix I would never pay money for Showtime but was willing to pay 1.99 an episode. Too bad they didn’t consider that in those figures.

I agree with the sentiments of the previous comments. Brotherhood was an excellent show. I just finished season 3 on Netflix and I am totally bummed there is no season 4. The final scene did provide some closure but, it feels like there should be another chapter somewhere down the road. Maybe a season 4 10 years on? Here is to hoping…

Too bad. Very good show. While it’s understandable that such a decision is purely “business”, it is tough to reconcile when you consider Showtime’s investment in and commitment to weak and vapid series like The L Word and now Shameless, which by the way is not “based on the UK Original”……it is the UK Original with horrible fake Chicago accents.

I only kept the channel around in hopes that it would be revived at some point, as well as Dexter. But now that Dexter is in hiatus, goodbye Showtime.

Brotherhood was indeed a great show, however the quality of the show is not what caused their ratings to drop. The truth is Showtime does a terrible job with their marketing campaigns. Hbo has some of the shittiest shows on cable but yet they manage to maintain their ratings which is why you rarely see anything get cancelled there. As far as craigs’ comment on piracy, he’s right. ******** such as myself do prefer to download content illegally simply because we rather steal than pay bloodsucking cable companies such as “Time Warner” a red cent. If “Showtime” and “Hbo” continue to allow these cable companies to overprice their viewers for content, then they deserve to go under. Networks need to smell the coffee and catch up with technology. If and when they realize it is in their best interest to cut out the middle-guy such as “Time Warner”, and offer direct subscription online, only then shall series’ like Brotherhood survive. Until then, good look keeping us “Pirates” form thiefen, “YEBE WARNED”, lol.

Yeah, this sucks. My mother and I and watched it since the premiere…
It’s sad because there’s a ****** reason why it was cancelled. It’s the same problem that all of the pay channel shows have. It’s internet piracy. There are a bunch of low-lifes out there that are downloading it for free instead of paying for it. And it doesn’t make sense for Time Warner or Infinity to produce these shows… so they cancel them…
Eventually these pricks are going to put HBO and SHOTIME out of business.
On a positive note, the actor that played Tommy Caffee, Jason Clarke has a new show coming out on FOX called The Chicago Code.

This is extremely disappointing. I just netflixed the most recent season thinking I hadn't seen it and was rudely awakened that the show had in fact been canceled. This was one of my top 5 favorite shows and I was really looking forward to Michael coming back. The last scene from season three when he lost it was one of the most intense scenes I've ever seen on tv. This show was the definition of drama. R.I.P.

I was a huge fan of The Sopranos but even though I subscribed to Showtime, I never heard of Brotherhood. Everything was Dexter and L Word. I truely believe this show failed because Showtime failed to properly promote it.

Now that I found it on DirecTV 101 I am recording and watching it. My wife and I really enjoy it. Some forward thinking network should pick it up.

It is on channel 101 (ION) and it’s uncut on Wednsday evening. Shaowtime should have gotten behind the show more. I watched Dexter, Californication and never once saw an advertisement for Brotherhood. They did bring The L Word back, maybe we could get them to bring Brotherhood back. For the record, I thought it was a much better show than the sopranos! ION has another interesting show right after Brotherhood and is also uncut, the name of that is “Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities.”

I am very pissed that they cancelled brotherhood. It was okay to have italian gangsters but irish NOOOOOOOOOO. I think Showtime won’t know what they did til everybody starts taking Showtime off their cable!!!!! It was a great show and very realistic. I hope they rethink this and bring it back. It was a great show unlike a lot of these reality shows that have no substance or plots. I think Showtime made a big mistake and I hope they find it in their heart to bring back a show everybody LOVES!!!!!!

I didn’t even know this show was on! When I was watching dexter I saw Californication and The L Word advertised, but nothing about Brotherhood. I started watching it earlier this year and still can’t believe those idiots at showtime cancelled it! Now there is nothing worth watching on showtime, I guess I’ll cancel it.

Really bummed this show was cancelled. This was one of the best shows on all of TV… Looked forward to it each week. Never missed it and told a lot of people about it.
The cast was really good and made you care about them.

Brotherhood was the best I’ve seen in years. I’m very disappointed they didn’t get another season. What I found most interesting was that they ( a Brit, an Aussie and a gal from Arizona) got the Providence ‘accent’ just right — I grew up near there.

Hope Michael got his head straightened out before he left town. I’d hate to run into him on the street somewhere.

We just finished the last episode and we had a feeling it was the finally. Then I read today that is all she wrote. Tommy is house speaker, Michael leave Rhode Island again. This show was so special, so well written and one of the few that used real businesses and locations in and around Providence. Its tragic that this top program gets the ax but a show like Two and a Half Men can stay on season after season!

First Shotime cancelled “Huff”, which was the best series Shotime ever had. Now they have cancelled ‘Brotherhood” as well? I don’t know what those people are thinking over there but I am not going to keep watching Shotime in the future. The only decent shows they have left are “Californication” and ‘Weeds”. I guess I’ll just wait for those shows to come out on DVD and watch them for free from my local library. I will not continue to pay for weak programming that rarely air good movies and cancels the best series that makes you want to watch Shotime in the first place. Sorry Shotime, I’m switching to Starz.

I loved the writing. It was much more compelling than HBOs Sopranos. Every single character was I thought well developed. I would seriously like to see the producers reconsider and bring the show back much like HBO did with The Sopranos. The intrigue would be there for me . I am really disappointed.

I think showtime has made a big mistake by cancelling this show. I thought it was better than the Sapranos and if it was advertised better it could have had a run as long as the Sopranos. At least we still have Dexter unless you plan on cancelling that show next. Showtime better watch out because these network cable stations are starting to turn out better shows without the extra monthly cost to the consumer. If it was not for Dexter I would definitely say goodbye to showtime. Keep up the good work fox and amc.

I really hated the news about cancellation. But then agian I love the show and now it has ended perfectly. Everything a big circle. In a way I like this approach and yes maybe they should do this more. From the beginning make a max. amount of episodes to tell the story in. This doesn’t make the show weak. But keeps it even stronger because you long for more. Keep them hungry for more that to me is perfect storytelling.
Odd comparison look at certain japanese anime. 26 episodes no more no less, what do you have in the ending a solid an strong story. Instead of something going berserk, weak on story arcs or longwinded… as I am right now ^^ thx for making this show loved it!!!

PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL “BROTHEHROOD!!” It is the best show on Sunday nights. I love all of the characters, but Ms. Flanagan holds it all togerther with her secrets & motherly ‘protection’ for her family.
Ethan Embry is fabulous as the man with the conscience. The transformation of Tommy into the male equivalent of his mother, mixed with a little appetite for more power, is in great conflict with his Irish upbringing. We Irish always have that crisis of conscience to pull us in many directions, and I love how Tommy solves his one piece @ a time.

I had showtime mainly for this show, I like Tutors and I like Californiacation but my whole reason for having it was brotherhood. Now that they canceled it, I am canceling them. The writers did their best to tie things together for us, I liked the way it ended but ofcourse you are left wanting more, you know in the back of your head that there could have been a longer story with a “better” ending, showtime fucked it up though.

One of the BEST shows on TV and it’s now lost. The dumbing of America continues, I’ve canceled my Showtime. A gritty, well written and acted show that people watching need to be able to follow the storyline and actually THINK about the plot. The actors in this show were great. Too bad it’s over.

Brotherhood is an excellent show and I can’t believe it’s been cancelled. I only added Showtime to my premium channels because of this show and Dexter. They are both well written and have good storylines. Says a lot for our programers when they cancel a show like this and keep nonsense like Californication running. At least with the Sopranos we the viewers were told when the last season would be and had the option of cancelling our HBO premium if that’s the only reason we had it. Maybe everybody, since apparently there aren’t that many of us that watched Brotherhood should cancel our Showtime channel and rent the DVD’s of anything they may offer from now on.

I finally found a show I enjoyed. It was a great show. Hopefully, Showtime will get their head on and promote the show. Maybe then it will succeed. I just found out about the show last month. Showtime provides every show on demand except Brotherhood. I watch a lot of TV and still did not hear of this one until Net Flix recommended it. Bad work Showtime. Step up and do the right thing.
