Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
WOW really? I just finished watching Cedar Cove… What a let down for us fans!:)
I have read all of the books in the series and even though the storyline strayed from the book a bit, I LOVED the show and the people and the lovely scenery! And the way the last episode ended!!! How can you end a show like that? BRING it back to tie up the many lose ends! OR how about doing a 2 hour movie and at least let us see what happens please!!!! I was SO disappointed by the ending! 🙂
I wonder if Hallmark is reading all of these comments from so many fans! They would realize what a mistake they have made. II would be nice if they did listen and the did give us some closure and make a movie to tie up SO many lose ends!
I was so disappointed that they cancelled this show! 🙁
Please bring the show back! There are 1.67 million viewers (average number of viewers for Season 3) that are disappointed that it was cancelled!!!!!
really looked forward to seeing season 4 & would love to see many more seasons of this show .
Would love to see a season 4 or at minimum a cedar cove movie to wrap story line.
I really liked the show and am very disappointed that it ended, especially leaving us all hanging. I changed cable providers because the other one did not have the Hallmark channel.
It would be nice to at least do a series finale. Give us all some closure.
I loved Cedar Cove and was wondering why I hadn’t seen it come back on. I have been watching the Hallmark Movie Mysteries and decided to look Cedar Cove up and when I found out that I wouldn’t see this show again. What a shame. It was such a good show and I will miss it. Thanks for giving us the 3 yrs that we did get to enjoy it.
Yep, really disappointed. Your follow up series haven’t delivered in my eyes. More spice, less goody two shoes that some of your stars deliver.
Is Olivia in love with Paul???!!!
Come on Hallmark, this was one of the best shows you’ve produced! Why would you cancel, just when it was getting good? Your viewers may have dropped a little but I will bet, now that it’s been on Netflix, more people will watch if you brought it back. Just bring it back as a Netflix series like a lot of other shows. Please?
Really disappointed in this decision. Can’t figure out why a decent show like this has to go by the wayside. Sure wish you would reconsider.
Completely agree with all these other viewers of Cedar Cove. You need to wrap up all the loose ends. It’s not right to leave 1.5+ million fans hanging. Is this what Hallmark will do to future scripted series? Not nice, Hallmark.
A wonderful show, with values to teach. This was a great family series and those are hard to find these days. You should have at least had a wrap up of all the loose ends. Pitiful ending in every way. I am a faithful Hallmark viewer who is very , very disappointed in losing this series, and your lack of a proper ending. How about a two hour special to give the viewers a proper farewell? You owe us that! Better late than never. A disappointed viewer, of which there appear to be many, over this. Connie in MI.
Love this show. Need season 4.
Please please pretty please bring it back
I need a Season 4 pleeeeeese, I need to know what happens between Olivia and Paul and Jack triangle Too much, don’t make us wait at least make a final epidose, where she makes a choice, or maybe a movie ?
