Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Bring back the show/it was compelling and interesting
My husband and I loved the series, “Cedar Cove!” The cast was top-notch and the scenery exquisite. What a lovely show to follow and look forward to. Isn’t that what television is all about. Please bring “Cedar Cove” back!!!
Loved the show and would like to see at least one more season!
At least do a movie to finish the story lines and make it a happy ending.
PLEASE bring cedar cove back! I absolutely loved this show. I just watched it on Netflix and I searched to see when the next season would be released. I was so disappointed to find out it was cancelled and it ended that way.
So disappointed that Hallmark cancelled Cedar Cove. Such a great show. Why in the world would Hallmark be airing a show like Middle and cancel Cedar Cove?
So disappointed. Can’t believe Hallmark is airing “Middle” and cancelled Cedar Cove
I am so disappointed that ‘cedar cove ‘ has been cancelled . Though the series veered from the book I really looked forward to each season . With so little wholesome tv series on it is a pity this series didn’t make it this season. I would like to think it would be reconsidered to bring back the ‘Cedar Cove ‘series’ for some clean & non-violent tv ‘watching
Would love to see cedar cove come back. Need shows like this!
Why would you cancel a hit series, especially since so many viewers invested in it. I truly dislike when channels like your cut projects like these. It does nothing to create viewer loyalty. Poor decision…very poor decision.
I just finished binge-watching the Cedar Cove series and was heart sick to find out that there was not going to be a fourth season. The way it was left at the end of season 3 begs for a fourth season. Please, please reconsider doing a fourth season!
At first, I loved Cedar Cove. It was the pizza party waiting to happen with friends on Saturday nights. Then, suspense turned into stressful relationships…the thing many of us like to escape from. It seemed like something was always being tweaked and changed. Why fix something that wasn’t broke? Someone “broke” Cedar Cove. Should they return? I am not sure that it can be fixed. I agree with Monica (below)…viewers deserve “closure”…at least a decent ending. Even if it isn’t achieved, you still will have respected the viewers who make it their own story.
Watched Cedar Cove for my first time on Netflix.
I was hooked, I Loved it!! I watched all 3 seasons and come to find out Cedar Cove was cancelled NO Season 4… So disappointed, I’m so sad that I will not get to see what happens next where season three left off.. Hallmark usually doesn’t disappoint me but this time it was accomplished..Give us viewers some closure on a Series we so enjoyed..It’s like an unfinished book.. A finale or season four for us as viewers..We deserve it… Don’t start what you can’t finish with a decent ending ..
I just binge watched all episodes of Cedar Cove to get to the end to find out it was cancelled! I loved the show — the town, the characters, the cast. Scenery was exquisite. Would love to see a finale of some sort. Even a movie. Missing my newest addiction.
So sorry to see that Cedar Cove has been cancelled. We need shows like this
Totally miss Cedar Cove. I hope it comes back.
