Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
I just watched all three seasons on Netflix. Would LOVE to have things wrapped up. Maybe Netflix will do something like the did with Gilmore Girls.
Loved the characters and the cast was amazing. Looked forward to watching it and now I’m so disappointed to know that there won’t be another season. Please bring it back!
Would love to see another season or at least a final show to wrap up all the loose ends and questions that season three had us wondering about. It’s sad to see a good show be canceled when we were able to watch this with our older child as a family. You don’t find that very often these days. Comedy romance and suspense all in one show… What could be better?!!
After reading the series, I was excited to see shows. I was terribly disappointed to find the show cancelled after season 3. There’s still so much to share and complete. At least do a final season to wrap up the loose ends. It could be a Netflix season if nothing else. Just disappointed.
I speak for the 10 million other viewers that hadn’t seen Cedar Cove, discovered it, and wished it would continue! Thank you for three seasons. I vote for more.
Very sad cedar cove will not be returning for season 4. I was looking forward to a lot of things that left us wanting more. Wish they would change their minds and bring it back.
I love cedar cove so sad it dont have no other episodes it left you wondering about a lot sure wish it would come back
Very sad Cedar Cove was cancelled. My wife and I really enjoyed the show. I hope they reconsider.
How very disappointing that you cancelled the series. I fell in love with the characters and so looked forward to more
I would very much like to see more Cedar Cove. Just got Roku and had not been able to see it before because of weekend work. I am on the 3rd season but I don’t want it to end. The characters, story, exquisite location and cast are great. Gorgeous Olivia seems pretty wise. Jack is so interesting. You just want him to keep it together so they can mentor together. I have not enjoyed TV this much in years.
I just finished the last episode and looked to see when the next season would be available on Netflix. Oh my gosh!! No more seasons? Really? So very very sad that you didn’t let Debbie McComer at least finish the story with a real ending. I’m very disappointed. My suggestion would be for her to finish the story in a novel. We know who the characters are, and what they look like. So her book would be a great read!
PUT THE SHOW BACK ON!!!
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU>>”HALLMARK”???
YOU HAVE A HIT SHOW. I MISS CEDAR COVE. GREAT CHEMISTRY!!
I miss Cedar Cove so much, so sad they cancelled it, there are so many dumb shows on Cedar Cove was so sweet
Try to put it back on I’ll watch it all the time
I really miss Cedar Cove. Loved the Cast and Scenery. Will it ever be back on? Friends and I started on the book series but would still watch the Hallmark version if it returns.
If they did not want to continue the cast was great would like to see them working together again………..I did not know the show was cancelled until I ran across this info……I am very disappointed in Hallmark what about the millions who did enjoy the series……….
