Chase: NBC Series Finally Cancelled, No Season Two

Chase canceled season twoWe all knew it was coming but now the peacock network has made it official. Chase has been cancelled after one abbreviated season on the air and won’t be back for season two.

Chase follows US Marshall Annie Frost (Kelli Giddish) as she heads up the Houston Enforcement & Apprehension Task Force. Annie and her team (played by Cole Hauser, Amaury Nolasco, Rose Rollins, and Jesse Metcalfe) hunt down America’s most dangerous fugitives.

When it debuted in September, Chase scored mediocre ratings at best and things went quickly downhill from there. On Monday nights, Chase averaged just a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and a meager 5.44 million viewers. When the series moved to Wednesday nights in 2011, the ratings only got worse and it became the lowest-rated scripted series on the network.

TV show supportIn February, NBC pulled the show off the air but wouldn’t say that it was cancelled. Still, we all knew the writing was on the wall. There were five episodes left unaired and last month, the peacock network began burning them off on Saturday nights. If there were any hopes left, the Saturday ratings reports dashed them. New episodes of Chase typically don’t perform any better than reruns of other NBC shows.

The peacock network has now made the cancellation official. Episode 17 airs tonight and the series finale of Chase airs next Saturday night at 8pm.

What do you think? Will you miss watching Chase? Why do you think the series struggled right from the start?

    August 2014, aired in Greece as a rerun (MON-THU at 02:00 a.m.).
    First time for me.
    Liked it a lot.
Sad to see that there is only one season.
Decided to post a comment, eventhough it is quite certain that no-one will notice it!

      I notice it!
And, yes, just like you, I really enjoyed watching Chase.
I found the viewers in US were only about 5.4 million, so in the end, the network cancelled it.
It’s a shame that TV is more about advertisements than what people want to watch.

I loved this show too! And was absolutely bummed when it cancelled. Annie was my favorite character by far but I loved the rest of the cast. I really wished more people here in the US would have taken a liking to the show. But now I’m wishing the UK would bring Chase in their part of the world because it seemed really popular there and I have that special channel that shows most of the UK programs. -sigh-

So gutted chase has been cancelled, really excited abt a second series over here in the uk! I hate it when American programmes r showed over here an they leave u wondering and then say they have cancelled the programme. So disappointing as they ate always the best series! If i had the money i would take over n do another series as it be worth the ratings over here! Just my opinion but not that lucky :-(

Loved this program…absolutely gutted that it won’t be back…series two wasn’t even released here in the U.K.! Decisions on what should and should not be aired are given to the wrong people, clearly!

Loved this show! Looking forward for Season 2, but am disappointed when it has been cancelled. Annie & Jimmy make a great team! Cole Hauser – you rock!!!
