Chuck: NBC Stars Optimistic About Season Five; Are You?

Chuck season five? It’s a familiar story for fans of NBC’s Chuck. Once again, the show is on the bubble and could easily be cancelled or renewed. If the series was on one of the other major networks it surely would have been cancelled years ago but, because the rest of NBC’s shows do so poorly, Chuck has squeeked by.

So far this season, Chuck has been averaging a 1.9 in the 18-49 demographic and 5.51 million viewers. That’s pretty terrible but it’s as good or better than Perfect Couples, The Cape, and Harry’s Law. Considering that a fifth season would help Chuck in syndication, it seems likely that Warner Bros. will make a good deal with NBC to bring it back one more time.

E! Online recently spoke to series stars Adam Baldwin and Yvonne Strahovski and they’re pretty optimistic about the show’s future.

Strahovski noted, “I think [the chances] are pretty good… I will be surprised if we don’t get a season five.” Meanwhile, Baldwin said, “I feel cautiously optimistic. Until you hear the go sign, I just remain cautiously optimistic.”

What do you think? Will Chuck be renewed for a fifth season or will it finally be cancelled?

I love Chuck! I don’t want it to be cancelled. I think it’s a great combination of humor and action

Their ratings have been steady all season. Considering all the powerhouse shows on Monday nights, Chuck has done very well holding it’s own.

I would be fine to see Chuck go just for the fact that I don’t have to keep running across stories about whether or not it will squeek in another mediocre season (performance-wise). It’s a show that I could have fully supported if it was not always such a toss up of whether it would be renewed. The show doesn’t perform well so I don’t even see syndication to be an end all reason for renewal but given the state of NBC they network should attempt to find profit in any corner it can.

I agree with Rebecca. I think the writers made a fatal mistake when they broke the “moonlighting rule.” The romantic tension was broken as soon as Chuck and Sarah started to move toward a more serious relationship. I often now find myself saying to myself, “I miss the first two seasons…”

I have to agree with Chuck Fan. I’ve liked a lot of TV shows in my life, but never have I been so loyal to a show like I’ve been with “Chuck.” It’s my favorite show on TV and it resonates with me. (Heck, I have a Jeffster poster hanging in my cubicle!) I hope WB can broker a deal with NBC and bring it back for one more season. I think WB will push for it because they know they can continue to make money off of it in syndication.

This is the only NBC show my family watches now since NBC keeps cancelling all there decent shows like Chase etc… So if NBC is dumb enough to cancel this one My family will be done with the network we have even switched our local news choice to another network to avoid NBC. Chuck is one of the best shows on TV better than many of the other networks but NBC excutives have done so much to NBC bu cancelling good program that most of the viewers have stopped even giving show a look on NBC as they know as soon as they get to liking a show NBC will cancel it.

Chuck is ok, but I’m ready for it to go. An added bonus of Chuck being canceled is, it being the only show I watch on NBC, I no longer have to support NBC in any manner.

I have not forgiven them for running rough shot over several shows I liked from the 2007-2009 seasons. As far as I am concerned there will be NO new shows started in my home that are not delivered by Netflix or Blockbuster.

This is the only show I watch on tv. I have bought every season and watched every episode several times. I really can’t say exactly why, but the show resonates with me. I have never been so loyal to a show. I hope it doesn’t get cancelled but who can say what goes through the minds of tv execs – they don’t think like the rest of us.

While I feel your pain with the cancellation of a show you truly enjoyed, Kyle XY is NOT the topic here. That show has been off the air for two years, and wasn’t even on NBC! So “Delete chuck” won’t somehow help to bring Kyle XY back…unless you’re trying to state your opinion that it will be cancelled.

No, sadly I think Chuck will end in May. I’m a fan and have seen every episode, but the show has run its course. Unless it returns in the fall or next winter with a shorter season and on another night I don’t see it getting renewed.

I love this show, it is one of my all time favorites! I hope it gets renewed! It has a strong and loyal fan base, which is something that NBC shows don’t get a lot, so they should keep that in mind when making their decision! If any execs are reading this – PLEASE KEEP CHUCK!
