Commander in Chief was a great show. Sexism is the only reason it did not last. Some people, women too, are afraid of a new system of thought….A woman that can be intelligent, beautiful, feminine, and in command. They just can’t deal with the shock to their thought patterns. Now we have elected a black president…( I voted for Obama too ) but this just shows that sexism goes even deeper than racism.

Our family just finishing watching the whole season on DVD from Netflix and was shocked to discover there was not a second season! It was amazing … why did they cancel it? Bring it back, eh?

Please bring Commander and Chief back. We can’t believe this program was cancelled. It was fantastic. The only program we went out of our way to make sure we viewed every week. We even purchased the Dvd and still review it often.
When ABC cancels programs like this and introduces new programs like cavemen it really makes you wonder who is making the decisions on programing.

What a fantastic series. My first thought when it went off the air was that the current administration had something to do with it,just a little bet to close to home. Everyone in the series was fantastic and I really miss it. We own both the DVDs and play them often. Please bring it back.

Commander in Chief was one of my all time favorite shows. I looked forward to it all week. When I first heard it was canclled, I could not believe it possible that ABC would cancel such high quality show and replace it with another reality show. I am sad to see quality TV becoming a thing of the past.

I really enjoyed Commander and Chief. I hope that there will be a Movie. I will be the first to watch it. I am no longer a viewer for ABC because of what they did to the show. I wont support them. It is obvious they dont know what a good show is because they replaced a good show with a lot of stupid ones. Until Commander and Chief comes back, SO-LONG-ABC!

I have been waiting to see the next season. The show in reality only has about 4 seasons in it anyway. Though the timeline doesn’t have to go so fast as it did. I for one loved it when she fired Dicky for not listening to her and then his weaseling ways to go to Templeton’s camp. Saw that one coming. Realilty and Game Shows are much cheaper to make than dramas and therefore intelligent people have little choice when searching for decent programs.

Why is it that unless a program is a so called reality show the networks don’t want anything to do with it. It is so easy for them to state that the rating are not there and slate something else in the place of truly intelligent family programming. CIC was one program that allowed me and my family to sit and watch together. A chance for my kids to see in some way how the actual goverment works. I know! Hollywood style but still better than the majority of reality crap out there. It truly seems that unless you are a fan or survivor-ish type shows television as we knew it being a family thing to do is out. Thank God for netflix and the selection of the oldies but goodies. Get off your ass ABC and give us something we like. Screw the Neilsen, what do they know?

First; Thank you for airing such an interesting & intelligent program. Second; What were you thinking when you cancelled Cammander in Chief! I don’t watch much TV but for once this was a program I didn’t feel guilty about watching. It made me think. The characters were believebable. I’m so weary of the crap that TV offers. ABC needs to realize all your viewers have alternative options, dvds, internet to entertain. You need to understand that it does make a difference and it can broaden perspectives when good programming is available.

I really thought that this show was going to come back on…I LOVED this show!! It was so witty and intellectual. Geena Davis played her part like a TRUE woman president would play. They say that if you want to win a war, put a woman in charge. I would love to see a 2 hour movie based on this show. In a way, I am surprised that it made it as far as it did! People are so afraid of change-I wonder when we are going to have a woman president???
They should never have put it on tv it they weren’t going to follow through with it!! Were they really losing that much money on it???

Commander in chief is a wonderful soap opera, i think that ABC made a bad decision about cancel this tv program. The serie is intelligent is so different for the others, every single person has their own personality. And i think that the program has to return. Im from Mexico and i his fan number 1 here. Where is the most thought provoking show in T.V. Commander in Chief ?. I orginally thought ABC was not going to cowtow to the powers that be and set the bar for other networks by running this forward thinking television show. Instead it chose to go with the current drivel like Desperate Housewives. Can you even compare how these two show portray women. which would you want your daughter to watch and emulate? I think most of us who appreciate intelligent t.v. already watch public tv, the history channel and discovery anyway and the cancellation of CIC just reinforced all the reasons why my family does not watch ABC, NBC, Most of FOX. Hey FOX here is your chance to get another show in your plus colume. Pick up CIC.

*Shrug* you Erik – says a male conservative lit. teacher who enjoyed the writing and the show. Never could stay awake for one episode of West Wing. Studio 60?? – “ho hum” with a *shrug* on top. Davis and Sutherland’s acting was excellent – hence the rewards. Somebody got to ABC execs about how dangerously thoughtful the show was. Unexplained “production difficulties” my a–. We should wonder why this show was scuttled.

this was really a great show that gave the viewers a better understanding of the difficulties and decisions that have to be made for the good of the many versus the few. It also showed the people that a man or a woman in this position will always have to contend and fiight for what they need for the good of the people.

I can’t help but notice the majority of posters here vying to get the show back are women. Of course, my noticing that or my evident glee of the fact that the show was cancelled may just be immediately disregarded as masogynistic; to which I say, *shrug*

Commander in Chief was a blatant rip off of Aaron Sorkin’s West Wing. Aside from stealing the same plots, subject matter, and even a number of the cast members, the acting was simply not up to par. Nor was the quality of writing for that matter. Furthermore, the baseline was not realistic in modern politics nor was the representation of an Independant that far too often crossed into ’screaming liberal’. If you want intelligent TV, then tune into Sorkin’s latest – Studio 60

Finally, I find a show that is NOT reality TV, NOT having to do with the medical practice,NOT a game show,NOT just about sex, and NOT crime or court related.

Then the show is not consistant with its dates/times so its hard to know when it is actually on.

Then ‘of course’ it’s cancelled.

Please bring back Commander in Chief.
Show it on a regular time/day, the viewers will come back!

So many viewers WANTED DESPERATELY TO WATCH THIS SHOW… but we could never find it!!!

A phenomenol show that you stopped advertising, stopped promoting and stopped caring about. It was well written, well executed, well acted!!!!

Whomever made the decision to pull the plug is a shear and utter coward!!!! This was BETTER THAN WEST WING!!!!!!!

It really is unfair the way you get us all wrapped up in a series you can’t wait for the new seasons and then your told one of the best shows are cancelled between abc and nbc I don’t think either of you have a clue what we want to watch I am sick of reality bull stories I can see why fox tv is becoming more popular than ever abc you have cancelled some of the best and nbc I barely even watchy tour station anymore all the good shows are gone maybe you should let your viewers decide because I know a lot of angry people right now with both stations

I so loved watching this tv show. I believe that most shows could be enjoyed by a wide range of age groups. I believe that if you stood behind this show it could be great. If you would have stopped showing repeats, moving the time, the day, and letting other tv specials get in the way. For the first time every while watching tv with my children they were actually learning and enjoying a show about politics. This made them aware of the different views people have. They started to see what intergety was. You could stand for something you belive in or just follow the crowd to gain acceptance. In the end you answer for your actions. One person with a great idea, thought, or belief could make a difference. I miss this show. I believe if you stand behind this it could be great for years to come.

I haven’t ever posted before, but I must say, I was looking forward to this season’s line up on ABC with Commander in Chief. Now, I won’t have any closure from the season finale. Thanks for nothing.

I am very DISAPPOINTED that the show was cancelled. I thought that Davis made an excellent President and Sutherland was a formidable nemesis.

Well you lost me… I guess I will have to go find another type of CSI or Law and Order to watch…

well duh! when the show is never on, week after week, people stop trying to watch!!
this was one of the best shows ever. why it wasnt on every week during the entire season was a mystery. so then even i didnt bother to tune in, only to find out later that it had been on and i’d missed it! very frustrating!! there would be a preview for “next week….” but next week would come and it wasnt on. we never knew when to try to watch! it was ridiculous. but i still want to see the show come back! it started off strong and wouldve stayed that way had they run it the entire season.

I’m one of the viewers that liked the show at first then stopped watching. The turn off was the writing. The writers made Mac hard to like as the show progressed, the way she treated her husband. I mean I was rooting for him to take the baseball commissioner job just to spite her. Also the kids were not likeable either. If you can’t root for the protagonists then it’s hard to keep watching.

I was so impressed by the acceptance speech that Geena Davis gave when she assumed the presidency in the first episode, that I watched it again when it was repeated later in the week.

With The West Wing in decline (its year long campaign season was too chaotic and unengaging), I looked forward to Commander In Chief for my idealistic look at how government could work for the benefit of all. When it was announced that the series was going to be cancelled, I was chagrined.

Another poster asked why viewers should invest their time following a well written series if it will only be cancelled after a few episodes. I have been asking myself the same thing, since I seem to be attracted to quite a few programs that have been cancelled. Program directors take note: I have never watched, nor do I plan on watching, any of the so-called reality shows, game or quiz shows. I have read quite a few books in the past year, however.

Please bring back Commander In Chief for those of us who prefer intelligent television.

I see from the above mail that many out there feel the same way I and my family (extended 30 some members) feel. Commander-in-Chief is an outstanding show, which could have continued for many years but for a few gutless producers and heads who, in my humble opinion, gave in the LIBERAL LEFT…
There is no way this show should have been cancelled for any other reason…It was just too good.
Hope some of you out there (you know who you are) will reconsider, get some backbone and start producing the show again this coming season…

I can’t believe you cancelled COMMANDER IN CHEIF!!!!!
Im 16 yrs old and I love the show, not many people my age like this show. Everybody in my school made fun of me for liking it and it made it even worse when you cancelled it! I luv Genna Davis. I even watch the Stuart Little movies because she’s in it. You CAN’T cancel it it will RUIN MY LIFE. I look forward to that show every week. I even have a reminder on my cell phone so I never miss it!!!! PLEASE bring it back!!! You should have David Duchovney and Gillian Anderson from the X Files guest star as agents Mulder and Scully trying to find the president who has been kidnapped. That would be AWESOME!!!! I just heard about Commander In Chief. WOW! reading the other comments, yes NYPD Blue was an intellegent show too, but there was just a little too much skin showing at times. The show was great and then at the end you get someones bare end-kinda ruined it. I’m not a prude, but can’t there be a good or GREAT show with out a rear end or other bodily appendages showing? Are they needing that much publicity that their acting can’t carry it over on the screen? I know “CiC”, had a scene or two, but it was not at every episode. I don’t care for Donald Sutherland, but you have to admit that he plays a GREAT double cross back stabber — er umm politcian. Yeah yeah that is what I meant !LOL Silly me LOL.

Another poster said something about the values of the watchers. I agree…….. you cancel this good show but you don’t cancel “The Bachelor” GO FIGURE! I feel as if the networks are putting stuff on the tube that represent our over all society intelligence….. well I for one will not stand for it! I don’t like politics AT ALL!!! Just the word makes me start to sweat. But this show was starting to make me see the answers to why and what policits do and work. To the cast and crew of “CiC” I’m standing up and applauding you! I hope that you get enough good people to back you, and MAKE them uncancel the show! Hats off to you Geena, for taking the step!

If viewership was too low for ABC’s satisfaction, it was attributable to the way they mismanaged the scheduling of the show. It seemed it was always being time changed or day changed or replaced by some stupid special or just missing for a week or more. After starting like most shows with some wrinkles to be worked out, it became polished, developed a good story line, but was treated like a stepchild. It should be brought back in place of the vast amount of garbage that the networks offer nowadays.

I can’t believe ABC cancelled this show, as others have said our family loved it. I am sure it would have gained a lot more viewers if ABC would stop messing with the times. Most people are creatures of habit, they watch the same weekly shows every week. Taking a show off for a few weeks, changing times, etc. does not allow it to build a healthy following. I am very loyal to the show and I know I have missed a few because I didn’t know it was on. Think about it!

WE were traveling in May and June and my husband and I have been waiting for this show, only to find out it had been cancelled. You can’t be serious! We don’t watch TV other than news but never missed this and thought Geena Davis was brilliant. I have read all of the comments and need we say more? I am saddened that ABC cancelled one of the most fascinating and intellectually stimulating shows it ever produced! Gina Davis is a class act that should have her own show. I can’t understand why ABC would shoot itself in the foot by constantly rescheduling and suspending the show. It is worth the effort to put it back on and let it remain on for a full season in the same time slot. I hope they reconsider. While a 2 hour story is intriguing, it will not satisfy those of us who want a regular diet of Commander In Chief with Gina Davis.

i am so disappointed that the show will not be back this fall. geena davis is my favorite actress and was perfect for the role. seriously put it back on instead of the bachelor or that rediculous show LOST. viewers want something with depth to it not some dumb show about a bunch of retards. everytime i heard a new episode would be airing i was so excited.it showed geena in an empowering role and encouraged me to run for the presidency someday. i am going to buy this seasons dvds and watch the 2 hour movie, but i truly,hopefully wish it does come back for a second season.i have a lot of people who back me up on this. so if your an executive at ABC: PLEASE BRING COMMANDER IN CHIEF BACK!!!!!!!!!!

I am very upset that abc decied to cancell Commander in Cheif. I really enjoyed the show and when i would watch it i would want to go to my sc.studies classes. This show had lmost real issues that we had in america today and if Genna Davis would do something like this I think that she would be a good president. Please don’t cancel the show. Finally a program the family can enjoy together. Theres no nudity, bad language and people aren’t killing each other every 5 minutes. This show along with the West Wing are wonderful. It shows the inner workings of the White House and just how hard some decision from the Oval office are made and how hard they are to make. Bring back the family programming.

Commander in Chief is a great show. I don’t particulary watch a lot of TV and am quite selective. Geena Davis is great. It was not good that they kept switching the days/times of this show, put it in hiatus, and then cancel it. I mean you lose viewers whenever you switch not just the time but the day it’s supposed to be viewed.

Commander in Chief is inspiring for women, raises political issues and makes people discuss. I think it’s a lot better than Desperate Housewives; I grew tired of that. Please have a second season!!!

Actually, I’ve been meaning to write a note to ABC and the other networks THANKING THEM for breaking me of the TV habit. By constantly moving my favorite shows around, substituting unrelated shows for the show I’m expecting to see, and by showing repeats during first-run TV season, the networks are helping me get over my long-term TV addiction, which I’ve had since earliest childhood! Lately, instead of watching my favorite TV shows (which these days I often can’t find), I’ve gone out for evening walks, seen friends, and even picked up a book (though I haven’t actually read any of it yet). It’s fun to try these new things, but I still kind of miss Commander in Chief.

It is a shame this show is not going to come back this fall! Such a well written show. Finally something other than reality TV! ABC please look into this one more, I think they are throwing away a big hit show here. I think that when the fact this show was behind on production messed everything up. This show did very,very well when it first came on at it’s original day and time and then they stopped showing it abruptly for almost 8 weeks then aired it again here and there with 2 week gaps and then started showing it again on a different day and time. They probably lost half the viewers just from that. All of the people I knew who watched it, loved the show and thought is was taken off the air back last year. They didn’t have any idea that it was back on. Many people gave up looking to see if it was on Tuesday nights. I think some of that was poor advertising about the show comming back on the diff. day and time. Now after canc. the show they are saying that it might come back as a movie or maybe sometime in the future. To me a movie idea is great but I want to see the show every week. How do they expect this show to retain its viewing audience when they pull the plug so quickly after messing around with its showing time. They never allowed enough of an audience to build before messing with this show. It will never get the ratings they are looking for unless they leave it on the same day and time for a while. Other big shows would suffer ratings hits if the show was done with like CIC. They pulled the plug too early and should have given this more of a chance. Like I said, WHAT A SHAME! BIG MISTAKE ABC!
CIC is still better than the new shows comming up this fall.

COMMANDER AND CHIEF WAS THE BEST SHOW ON TELEVISION. HOW CAN ABC BE SO CARELESS IN THEIR SCHEDULING OF THIS SHOW? THE VIEWERS WERE NOT INFORMED ON WHY IT WAS OFF THE AIR AND THEN IT RETURNS ON ANOTHER NIGHT. HOW WERE WE TO KNOW?…I DEPENED ON THIS SHOW TO BE ON THE NIGHT IT HAD BEEN SCHEDULED AND WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WHEN IT WAS TAKEN OFF WITH NO EXPLANATION. COMMANDER AND CHIEF IS BY FAR THE BEST SHOW ON TV WITH REAL ISSUES THAT ARE IMPORTANT. WITH SO MANY STUPID SHOW ON TV COMMANDER AND CHIEF WAS MAKING A REAL DIFFERANCE AND RESTORING MY FAITH IN TELEVISION…TAKE ANY POPULAR SHOW REMOVE IT FROM ITS TIME SLOT FOR 3 MONTHS THROW IT BACK ON THE AIR ON A DIFFERNET NIGHT AND ITS RATINGS WILL DROP. WHAT IS REALLY BEHIND THIS CANCELLATION? THIS SHOW NEEDS TO BE PUT BACK ON THE AIR FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE INTELLEGENCE AND WANT A SHOW WITH SUBSTANCE. Par for the course for ABC. That is why I usually don’t watch shows on ABC. You get a good one, get interested and they cancel it to put on some really overblown cheesy reality BS. I watched CIC, until they put it on hiatus and moved it. I do not watch enough ABC to be able to know when they bring it back or switch it’s time slot. Besides that, once ABC starts putting shows on hiatus and moving them around, it is a sure sign that you are seeing their death knell.

I would say they were threatened by a show that featured a president that actually cared. You know… one that wasn’t in the pockets of business & controlled by their cronies. One who actually tried to do something that was in OUR best interest. A Show like that could get people to thinking too much!

Not only do I absolutely love Geena Davis in everything she plays in, but I loved the show.
It was so exciting. We did not have to watch every half hour people jumping in bed with one another. It’s a great show with a great premise. There has never been a show like it. What amazes me also is to see the cameos of great stars come in and out of the show. I LOVED IT! Geena Davis and Donald Sutherland are AMAZING. Love the chemistry and love the acting. So what American Idol had higher ratings. Work the show back. The problem was, everytime we got excited that the show was coming on, ABC would not air it. This constantly happened. That is what lost the audience. The audience was always there, ABC was not always there with the show for the audience. They need to think about that. Bring the show back to the many people that loved it so much. And keep off that kid from Saved by the Bell. He made the show SILLY!

I am so dissapointed in the ABC networks, and better yet… Walt Disney would be too. It makes me so upset that you have no problem leaving on sleazy shows like Desperate Housewives and the Bachelor even Grey’s Anatomy, but you take off shows filled with patriotism and respect, teaching responsibilty for your actions, and that everything that we live by comes at a price. I think that Commander in Cheif did such an amazing job of being a respectable, wholesome nighttime program that everyone (ALL ages) can watch, but it shows me quite clearly that after this, and ALIAS were cancelled, that the patriotism and the values that can be taught through dedication mean absolutely nothing to the Administration at ABC. And here is a suggestion… these shows might get better ratings if you would stop moving them around, and play them as consistantly as production would allow.

I think ABC has made a big mistake. Alot of people really enjoyed this show and would like to see it continue. We were lucky not to miss an episode, but never knew when it was going to be on. It was just luck that we caught them. Most shows on are the reality shows and this was different.It was Good! Please consider bringing this one back.

I too am upset about the cancellation of this series. To me there was a lot of GREAT story lines as well as it being in GREAT taste. It was giving our young teens the opportunity of seeing a series with GREAT actors and good clean acting!

I looked forward to this show every week. When it disappeared and then reappeared on Thursday at 10PM it was difficult to stay up for it but it was well worth it.

Bring it back as it is one of the few sensible and wholesome TV shows on ABC. ABC should do themselves a favor and save it.

When it was on last night I only fell u[pon it by chance. Is some deliberately trying to get rid of it?

What a shame to cancel Commander and Chief. It was a show worth watching. If you had kept it in the time slot right after Lost it might of had a chance. Then you go and move it all around. You didn’t even advertise that it’s even on and people lost track. Please, bring back the show in the fall put it after Lost. You’ll see you’ll get your ratings. Thanks

I am disappointed in ABC, the producers and sad for the actors and crew , their quality of work was great , great enough for me to follow all the crazy time schedules, so if I would do that , then I would tune in on a regular schedule. America needs shows that entertain and still give you food for thought with some positive messages, abc needs to be apart of the solution not the problem, please take a hint and hire someone to check out how many on the internet would like to see the show return!

I really like this show and am sorry it has been cancelled. I’m curious and, perhaps, someone more knowledgeble might know the answer to this. I also watch [b] West Wing [/b] and when the Speaker of the House takes over as President for the time following the President’s daughter being kidnapped, he has to resign his position as Speaker of the House. When Donald Sutherland takes over as President for his one day, he doesn’t seem to stop being Speaker of the House. Which is correct?

I cannot believe that they have cancelled this show.
I hope this gets to the producers/writers and ABC.
I am asking myself why I should watch any new show if they are just going to take it off the air. Why should I invest MY time in getting to know the storyline? My family and friends love this show and we talk about it. I think it deserves to be in the line-up.

Please do not let personal differences get in the way of a great show.

Commander and chief was one of the most motivational shows produced on tv. ABC has their fall line up and it shows Dancing with the Stars instead of Commander and Chief LOL…… I watch Dancing with the stars but its no match for Mac and Templeton ……da.
If the producers of the network care anything for its viewers, I suggest a reevl. on the final desicion to get rid of something that’s already so great…..

I was very sad to hear that the show was getting cancel, however i think that if they are really thinking of making a movie after the season ends, it will be a great way of ending the show, because being real i can’t picture a season 3or 4 of this show, think about it. It started with the president not being elected but replacing a dead president, everything is great now, but once her 2 year period is over, is she gonna win the elections? and what about her marriage or her kids??? the show will be boring then, and if she loses i wouldn’t continue watching. Just make the movie to have a great end to the actual story, don’t leave it hanging, like it was done with another series that was supposed to have a movie and it was never done.
