It looks like Common Law won’t be back for a second season. While the TV show hasn’t been officially cancelled by USA, the signs are all there.
Common Law follows a pair of LAPD detectives — Travis Marks (Michael Ealy) and Wes Mitchell (Warren Kole). They bicker but their talents mesh so well that their commanding officer, Captain Sutton (Jack McGee), orders them into counseling to keep the team together. The series also features the talents of Sonya Walger, Elizabeth Chomko, Alicia Coppola, Nora Zehetner, and Reed Diamond.
The first season averaged 2.13 million with a 0.6 demo rating on Friday nights. It was the lowest-rated original scripted series on USA this summer, performing worse than Fairly Legal, the sophomore series that also aired on Fridays.
According to Deadline, Common Law’s fate seems all but sealed. The options for the entire cast have expired so those contracts would have to be renegotiated for a second season to happen — if the actors aren’t committed to other projects. In addition, the show’s executive producer and showrunner, Craig Sweeny, has been hired as an executive producer on CBS’ Elementary series — a new take on Sherlock Holmes.

I LOVE COMMON LAW…..I WAS SEARCHING TO SEE WHEN SEASON 2 WOULD START. MAYBE THEY SHOULD BRING IT BACK ON ANOTHER DAY OF THE WEEK, I NEED MORE
The show was good, no dull moments.. It had action, comedy, and drama. I believe it should have been on one of the boring days of the week. I mean Friday or Saturday is kind of pushing it for a new show. That dont have big time actors. No disrespect but it is true. I hope it does come back for season two. Just on a tuesday wednesday or thursday..

Common law featured the perfect ‘Odd Couple’. Two beautiful men, funny, sensitive, smart (and a little ruff). You guys have so many posibilities with this show. Micheal Ealy’s ‘Foster child’ character give you so many story possibilities.
Please give it a chance. Not a lot of people knew about the show. Also, it gives USA some HUGE props to have one of there main characters be a black man. Micheal has been on the scene for some time, but he is finally being SEEN by everyone. Just think of all the interviews he has had in the past 6 months. Men respect him and Women LOVE him!
I have gotton a lot of my friends to watch the show just by telling them that he is on it.
The great storyline and the character’s relationships makes them come back. Give them another chance. Do you guys remember some years ago when one of the networks marketing line was ‘The best shows – that you are now watching” something like that. Don’t give up!!!

i’ve been waiting for common law to begin again it seems every show i like gets canned we’re not all teenagers interested in how a woman can carry a baby for nine months and not know it or some other bs reality show
Common Law cancelled & Covert Affairs renewed?! Now, That makes no sense what-so-ever! Common Law was a much better show.
