Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior: CBS Series Cancelled; No Season Two

Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior canceled season twoA day before the network’s official upfront presentation for advertisers, CBS has cancelled Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior. The spin-off will end after just one season.

Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior follows a highly-trained team of agents who operate within the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). They use unique and hard-hitting tactics to bring down some of the country’s most dangerous felons. The TV series stars Forest Whitaker, Janeane Garofalo, Michael Kelly, Beau Garrett, Matt Ryan, and Kirsten Vangsness.

While spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles got off to an immediate great start back in 2009, the same can’t be said for CBS’ latest spin-off, Suspect Behavior. In February, it debuted to a 3.3 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 13.06 million viewers. That was a solid start but then the second episode dropped 27% to a 2.4 rating and 9.8 million. By the fourth episode, it had fallen to a 2.2 demo rating.

Should Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior have been cancelled?

The ratings have gone up and down a bit over the course of the season but has gone as low as a 2.1 in the demo a couple times. It currently averages a 2.4 rating and 9.84 million viewers, more than a whole point below its lead-in and parent series, Criminal Minds. Those numbers put it squarely on the bubble for renewal.

There was talk about bringing Suspect Behavior back for another round, possibly after doing a revamp, but the network’s decided against it. They likely have other procedurals waiting in the wings that believe can do better so CBS has cancelled Suspect Behavior after one season.

TV show supportA baker’s dozen of episodes have been produced and so far, 11 of them have aired. The remaining two are expected to run tomorrow and next Wednesday night, May 25th, as previously scheduled.

The series finale is called “Death by a Thousand Cuts” and finds the team tracking a serial killer who randomly shoots people in crowded areas.

What do you think? Are you sorry that Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior won’t be back for a second season? Why do you think this one didn’t catch on?

This was a gripping show that never should’ve been canceled. Every episode was gripping and had a great plot. Leaving it at the cliffhanger was so unfair. I spent and hour jogging in circles around my bed wondering who died, only to google it finding out that we’ll never know.

I am sorry that it was ended. I enjoyed the show a lot, highly , ‘edge of the seat’ entertaining, I especially liked Forest Whitakker’s acting!

I never even heard of this show and definitely would have watched – poor advertising!!! I stumbled on the show when searching for Criminal Minds on Netflix. I couldn’t stop watching and with in a week watched all episodes. What a great series! The cast was great and the plots were different enough to make this a great new addition to the crime scene shows out there. Very disappointed to know that there are no more episodes!

This TV series should not have been cancelled. It is as good, and in some ways, better than the original Criminal Minds which I continue to watch. I think in Suspect Behavior the Unsubs are more diabolical and demented, with the agents having to solve more in depth cases. I like the team of agents as well, a good mix, especially with Forest Whitaker as lead agent and the Penelope Garcia character as Tech support for this team also. She brings a lot to both series. Some network needs to pick up and continue the Criminal Minds Suspect Behavior series. It is enough different from the original to carry its own weight. It seems as if the series wasn’t given a fair chance to succeed. I found/find it to be a very interesting series. I say find, present tense, because I have watched the few episodes, only one season, again and will probably watch them several more times. It was a mistake to cancel this series. It wasn’t given enough time to establish the fan base that it is now establishing by our watching episodes over and over again online. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

I have to admit, it’s no where near as good as the original criminal minds but was still great. Wrong of them to leave it hanging the way they did

I didn’t know this was even out there. Poor advertising CBS. I just watched season 1 on Netflix. Now I’m bummed. Who got shot?! Somebody please pick thisup!!!!

I’m really upset about it! I mean it’s Forest Whitaker! And with my being a Welshie having a Welsh actor Matt Ryan was epic! The Show was great and i hated that they didn’t even add the 14th episode showing the cliffhanger.

I want a season two. I hope they bring it back.

Boo CBS. One of the better shows offered. Think again about bringing it back

I don’t understand why it was cancelled. the first season is always rocky, the same with any show, they should at least do a second season to see if anything get better. You can’t do something once and understand how people would view it, you should do a second, i guess you could call it “a test run”, and see how it turns out then. Its a good show and it should have a chance to show people that.
