Crossbones: Season One Ratings

Crossbones TV show on NBC ratingsA couple years ago, NBC aired Crusoe, an adventure series based on the classic Robinson Crusoe novel and character. It was quickly cancelled. Now, the network is trying Crossbones, another adventure series about the same era. Will this one be a success and be renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled as well? We’ll have to wait and see.

Crossbones revolves around the life of Edward Teach (John Malkovich), better known as Blackbeard the pirate, and his desire to aquire a valuable invention called the longitude chronometer. Others in the cast are Yasmine Al Massri, Richard Coyle, Claire Foy, David Hoflin, Tracy Ifeachor, and Chris Perfetti.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.

What do you think? Do you like the Crossbones TV show? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for second season?

I was shocked and very disappointed when I saw that the “finale” would be a 2 hour episode on Saturday, because that autimatically means it is cancelled…! What a disappointment. I was really looking forward to see what happens to the characters now that Nenna has escaped with more of her stolen booty (not to mention her murder of Rose). Also, what will happen to Black Beard’s original wife; and his halucinations of her. (and how everything will effect the supporting actors). BRING IT BACK!

Some very good comments have already been made. I also enjoy this series, but agree that there is too much filler. As “nemo f” stated, it is a four-hour miniseries stretched to fill double that in episodes. “Alyson” stated that summer is the worse time for ratings, and I agree. This series might fare much better during the fall. I hope the producers tweak this potentially great series and go for season two.

I really enjoyed the series don’t know why the ratings dropped so much. I would love to see this renewed for another season. Tired of watching the same old shit cop and supernatural dramas, this was a good escape from that.

The ratings dropped because it took too long to get to the point. I don’t want to watch 3, 4, 5 or more episodes of filler about the behind the scenes back story of third and fourth level supporting characters. That and the character development takes too long as well, which means they are drawing out the story to fill time.

The only way to watch crossbones, crisis, hostages etc is binge watching. sit down one time fast forward through the filler and commercials so you can finish the 13 hours or so in about four or five. cause that is what these shows are, a four, five, six hour mini-series expanded into 13 to 20 hours of boring television.

This show suffers from the same thing that is killing a lot of shows – the season long story arc. The episodes are poorly written and acted. I am not going to watch 8 to 10 hours of garbage hoping for a good final episode payoff. This show, like crisis , hostages and others, is a 4 hour miniseries stretched into 10 to 13 one hour episodes and its shows. just like the others did and that’s why they have all been canceled.

TV execs want you to watch 13 chapters of a novel. sorry, if the book stinks, I will throw it away or just skip to the end. since I can’t skip to the end on TV, I just stop watching.

watched a couple of episodes, IMO, Malkovich is good, not great, but good, the rest isn’t worth watching.

Its been canceled. Another reason I have stopped watching tv. If a good series comes along it is canceled before it has a chance . What a shame.

What a shame. Just like Dracula…A really clever take on a time in history that isn’t dramatized much on TV. I will really miss it. It kept getting better week after week and clearly was starting to tick back up in the ratings too. Sigh. Glad I still have Turn.

I knew it would be canceled. Every darn good show out there gets canceled because everyone seems to want to watch cop dramas. What a mistake. :(

One of the few decent shows on the air that are not cop shows. Good story line, great acting, enticing characters. Clearly not the typical network dribble.
