CSI: NY: CBS TV Show Renewed for Season Eight

CSI: NY renewed season eightFans of CSI: New York can rest easy. The Friday night series was looking like it might be cancelled but has now been renewed for an eighth season.

Starring Gary Sinise, CSI: NY investigations follows the investigations of a team of forensic scientists and police officers in the Big Apple. It began in the fall of 2004 and currently co-stars AJ Buckley, Anna Belknap, Carmine Giovinazzo, Eddie Cahill, Hill Harper, Robert Joy, and Sela Ward.

CBS moved CSI: NY to Friday nights this season, leading many to believe that it was on its way out. The ratings have declined over the years and naturally took a big hit when it was moved. Still, the show has performed better than most other shows of the night and currently averages a 1.8 in the 18-49 demographic and more than 10 million viewers.

According to Deadline, the decision to renew came right down to the wire. Contributing factors that pushed it over the edge include the fact that the show has a profitable syndication deal and also does quite well in international sales.

Though the TV series will be back for an eighth season, it’s not decided how many episodes will be ordered. Unlike the others, it may end up being a 13 episodes season.

What do you think? Are you glad to hear that CSI: NY will return for season eight?

When there are so few ensemble shows with well developed characters and, quality acting, why are they the shows they they take off the schedule. Even with cable, there are nights where I can not find a quality program to which. We need more quality shows like CSI:NY not less.

As my friend and I were watching the season finale and panicking when it looked like they were heading in the direction of letting Mack die I looked it up to make sure. We are thrilled to see that it has been renewed. Bringing Sela Ward on with the rest of the solid cast already there, was a great move. She is fantastic in her role.

CBS – keep this show on the air!!

I was ecstatic to find out that CSI NY was renewed!! (as were so many of my friends). This is such a great series and only surpassed by #1 NCIS. (sorry, Gary Sinise). It’s my favorite CSI and the cast has a wonderful chemistry. I’m hoping for at least another 2 years. PLEASE!!!

I think it’s FANTASTIC that CBS didn’t cancel the show. I love it since Sela Ward came on and I love the Friday night slot. CSI New York and Blue Bloods are my Friday must see TV (or when I can’t I definitely record it). Love, love, love it.

I love CSI:NY and Gary Sinise I never missed a show I think CSI:NY is better then Miami and Vages CSI shows Gary Sinise role is more belivevable and realistic then the other two. If one needs to be cancled ditch the Vages show.

I highly agree with Janice. Gary and Sela are great together, I really hope the shows stays for season 9. Don’t watch much TV, the 3 CSI shows are about all I watch, with CSI NY and Miami being my favorities. I do think Mac and JO need more of Social/love life. All work and not play isn’t good.

I totally agree with you guys. Gary and Sela are great together and I very much hope they bring it back for a full 8th season, 9th season and so on . . .
And you’re right Lawrence, they need more social lives. I liked that Mac is dating again. Now they need to give Jo a life outside of work too. I also love the rest of the cast too. They all work well together. Really love the addition of Sela Ward.

I’ve been wondering why it hasn’t been on. Didn’t know if it was airing on a different night. So glad it will be returning. It’s 1 of my favorite shows. All the actors/actresses are great. It’s a clean show. Always has an outstanding story & plot. It has real life stories. Thank you for bringing it back. Looking forward to it’s airing.
