CSI: NY: Has the CBS TV Series Been Cancelled?

CSI NY canceled? We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.

It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.

At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”

TV show supportIt’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.

What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

I rarely miss an episode of CSI NY and was dissappointed to have it removed from Friday night and replaced with Undercover Boss. I agree with keeping all the good shows and limiting the senseless reality shows. I loved the Friday night line up the way it was!

Thank guys, but I really don’t need any more reality shows in my life. I have enough reality in my own life to keep me going. What I watch TV for is some good old made up stories and CSI NY is one of my favs. I realize that some stories just get played out but I don’t think this is one of them. If it is taken off the air it will be one less night I tune into TV.

CSI NY is the BEST of all the CSI shows. Miami is awful and the Las Vegas one keeps changing for the worst now too. CSI NY is the only one that should stay! I do like the Gifted Man, however, it’s different and that’s good too.

I don’t think they should have moved it to Friday. I always looked forward to it on Wed. I love this show and it has a good story line all the time.

In my opinion, CSI NY is the best of the series. Gary Sinise and Sela Ward? How does it get any better. If I were to cut one in the series, Miami would be my first choice. I think it has run its course. Keep NY in a timeslot that people will watch – not on a Friday night when people are out for dinner or out with their friends! My vote? Keep CSI NY! It has a lot of integrity.

Keep CSI NY on the air. There are so many other reality or silly sitcoms and shows on the network that are worth canceling much sooner than this. At least rotate the CSI series.

Excellent program, stop cancelling the good show and take off some of those reality shows no one is interest in that junk. That show that was put in CSI place on Friday I really wasn’t feeling it at all.

I enjoy CSI New York very much. Do not cancel it. Get rid of A Gifted Man and all the sitcoms. I like all of the CSI’s.

This show should NOT be cancelled. There are very few shows on tv worth watching. This is one of my favs. I’m about ready to give up tv. So much garbage on today.

I love the show. I think it has lost alot since Stella left…she clicked so well with Mac. I think the show is trying to get Jo to change Mac…Mac made the. Mac and Stella “owned” CSI NY, the rest of the cast conpleted it. I will never ubderstand why, when a show is a hit, they always change it and ruin it.

Gary Sinise is superb as are the entire cast. CSI Miami is not as good nor is A Gifted Man. Stop canceling all the good shows and keeping all those reality shows.
