The CW network apparently wanted to be the first one out of the gate this year and announced that six of its TV shows will be back next season. The lucky dramas are Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, 90210, Smallville, and Supernatural. The venerable reality competition series, America’s Next Top Model, was also renewed for seasons 13 and 14.
Smallville’s ninth season comes after Warner Bros was able to sign star Tom Welling to another cycle. Two of the series’ showrunners, Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin, revitalized the action-drama this year but are expected to leave if the Melrose Place revival is ordered to series. If all goes as expected, Kelly Sounders and Brian Peterson, the two remaining showrunners, will take over.
Dawn Ostroff, CW’s entertainment president, said “As we continue to build The CW Network as a destination for young women, these six shows have clearly contributed to strengthening our schedule and our brand identity.”
While the timing of the pickups is earlier than usual, none of the renewals come as a surprise. The grouping represents the network’s strongest offerings.
Still left in the dark are shows like Privileged, The Game, Everybody Hates Chris, and Reaper. Will any of them return next season? The network is developing several possible series so the remaining shows’ chances for survival are looking quite slim.

NOT ANOTHER ONE!!!!!! Everytime a great show comes out it gets cancelled just when everyone is starting to really get into it!
If networks would just listen to the fans maybe these show that are on the fence can prove to be the next big sucess story.
Giving this show an hour spot and putting it in a drama catagory is genius.
CW give this one another chance YOU WON’T REGRET IT!!!
The game is a great show it has a lot of drama, how could u cancel it it has so many diffrent lead ways like is that derwin baby, is jason and kelly going to work it out, will tasha and kelly fight again and will malik find ms. Wright I really think u should make it an hour spot at 8 pm. This mean a lot to a lot of fans some of the shows that u have on cw are boring I don’t know how u keep getting ratings girlfriends been on for awhile it could have aleast been a season finale you really should reconsider the show put it on a Monday at 8 or wensday. Bring the game back its only fair. Sign a fan for the game

I can’t believe Priviledged and The Reaper are gone. I love these shows and looked forward to watching them. I even got my husband into them. While I love the Supernatural, I will definitely NOT be tuning in to the same old crap of 90210 and others like it. Bores me to tears!
they really need to continue it!!!!1 i want to see what happens next we dont have that many good tv shows on tv and you go and cancel our last bit of entertainment. this is not fair i bet they had over 3 million viewers!!!
please dont cancel the game! i just started watching it on BET and its a great show! i didnt even know it came on CW til recently. I would definitely be a faithful viewer if this show was renewed for another season! you cant leave us in the dark! we want to know what else happens with derwin and melanie!! =)
