Dallas: Should the TNT Series Be Renewed for Season Three?

Dallas cancel or renewed for season 3?This evening, TNT airs the final two episodes of Dallas’ second season and, unlike the price of oil, the ratings have been down. Will the TV series return for a third season or will it be cancelled instead?

The new Dallas picks up several years after the original show ended. Time has passed but the Ewings and the Barnes are still at each others’ throats. And, though Larry Hagman passed away, there’s still plenty of drama at Southfork. The cast includes Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Judith Light.

Last season, the new Dallas was one of TNT’s most-watched dramas, averaging 4.42 million viewers and a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic.

This time around, the ratings weren’t so hot. The second season has averaged 2.64 million with a 0.8 demo rating. The numbers spiked for the JR Ewing funeral episode but they went back down the following week.

While the ratings admittedly haven’t been as strong this time around, Dallas is still TNT’s best performing show right now. Both Monday Mornings and Southland have only been averaging about 1.4 million viewers.

The cable channel also knows that the show is facing a lot more competition at this time of year — compared to when the first season aired last summer.

While TNT hasn’t cancelled or renewed Dallas yet, it seems very likely that the Ewings will return for another round of in-fighting and deception.

What do you think? Would you like to see Dallas return? Is the show as enjoyable as it once was? Should TNT move it back to summer?

Please renew Dallas for a 3rd season! Also bring it back in the Summer. This is the best show on tv by far! CBS should consider bringing it back on network tv, the ratings would skyrocket!!!

EWINGS AGAIN DID GOOD. SO KEEP THEM ON. JUST KEEP THEM ON. AND I GUESS WE WILL HAVE ANOTHER GOOD TO GO. THIS SEASON WAS GOOD TO SEE NO DULL MOMENTS AT SOUTHFORK. NOW SINCE JOHN ROSS/ BOBBY GOT THINGS TO FINISH ALONG THE LINES.

DALLAS needs to, no matter what, bring back Victoria Principal (who played Pamela in the original) to the cast, as well as add Joan Van Ark and Ted Shackelford (who played Valene and Gary both in the original Dallas and Knots Landing).
They do need to pull in the KNOTS LANDING fans. Why not? I worked in my case. The show is great and I never religiously watched the original (my parents did). I was always a KNOTS LANDING fan. But now I’m a fan of DALLAS, and I will be renting the original DALLAS this summer. The Mitch Pileggi, Judith Light, and Steven Webber additions this year were right on. DALLAS better performs its melodrama when caliber stars are there to act it out. Bring the power house stars and sell the hell out of it. Make it all an ‘event’. People will flock to it like they have before. That is also why they flocked to J.R.’s funeral. It was an ‘event’.
So summer or winter, it doesn’t matter, just make it grand! Do not give up on it. Stick with it and be smart! Southfork Ranch has a lot to tell still!

I Think That Cynthia Cider Should Have Had Victoria Principal Back On Dallas!! After They Said That She Was Dead There Radings Will Go Down, So If They Brought Her Back As Pam Ewing There Radings Would Go Through The Roof & The Would See It!!
Pam’s Fans Love Her Alot & They want her back!!
They Don’t Care If She With Bobby (or) Not !!
On the First Dallas – Pam & Bobby were going to have a Baby , So she Went to the Dr. & He Said She was in Good Health & She Could Have A Baby!! She Was Not Have A Illness that would Kill Her!!!

I thoroughly enjoy watching Dallas this second time around. I wasn’t sure at first if it could come up to the original, but it ‘hooked me’ after the first episode! Please bring it back for a third or more season!

You would be crazy not to renew Dallas! I watch it on Monday night and then again on Saturday morning, just in case I missed a small part of it. It is interesting and always keeps you guessisng, not many shows do that anymore. I am sick and tired of seeing people dance in competion, sing, etc when something that can take you away for an hour is there just for the watching.

I definitely think Dallas should continue. The final episode 4/13 left me hanging, what’s next. Is Pam going to find out John Ross has other “lady friends” as did his TV dad JR? What happens to Cliff framed for killing JR? Emma’s multile problems with her drug problems, and men problems. There are just to many questions that could be answered to continue a show of Dallas that would be just as good as ever. On the original Dallas years ago, several members of the cast died, but it continued. I see John Ross, a new, little JR, learning all of his dad’s tricks. I would be awful to know this program would be cancelled due to the untimely demise of JR. He has a good plus for the show, but not the whole show. It took all of them.
