Deception: Cancelled, No Season Two

DeceptionIt looks like there won’t be a second season for NBC’s Deception. Deadline is reporting that the NBC TV series has been cancelled and is one of the first of the peacock’s shows to get the bad news.

On Deception, a wealthy party girl has been mysteriously murdered. Her childhood friend, now a San Francisco narcotics detective, is convinced by her former partner to go undercover into the wealthy world she thought she’d left behind. The cast includes Laz Alonso, Meagan Good, Victor Garber, Katherine LaNasa, Tate Donovan, Wes Brown, and Ella Rae Peck.

The series debuted in January to a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.66 million total viewers. Those weren’t great numbers but, for NBC, they’d be enough.

The ratings dropped by more than 20% in week two and they kept going down in subsequent weeks. During the course of its 11 week run, Deception fell as low as a 1.1 in the demo and 3.08 million viewers.

Those numbers are terrible and just couldn’t justify bringing the show back for a second season. Unfortunately, the defacto series finale, which aired on March 18th, left viewers with plenty of unanswered questions.

What do you think? Are you sorry that Deception has been cancelled? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?

I’m highly disappointed! This was one of my and my husband’s favorite shows!! I’d like a number we can call in to NBC and complain about it. It’s a mistake canceling. It just is. :(

This is horrible news, this is why NBC is not doing well, they need to develop something past season 1, they always do this it has happen now on 3 different shows over the last 5 years. They could learn a thing or two from CBS. I watched faithfully and all my friends liked this one too.

OHHH I am soooo Pissed. Ive been waiting wating afn waiting. Hoping they were gonna say GOOD NEWS Season 2. I am so sick and tired of finding a really good show (that I had been waiting on from jump) and they cancel it. That was only a tease. They never give shows a chance. It’s like oh okay we had this many viewres. Tell me how you know that. I was never asked. No one called me and surveys me. Or any of my friends and family that also watched it. I understand. That makes me so mad. UGH!!

I am too-too-too thhrough with NBC, and this IS my local station but hey it’s time for a change. I loved Deception, so I looked at it every Monday night when it came on. The problem with television is that it is TOO much into reality tv shows, and not enough entertainment. There is not very much worth looking at on many stations, and they hit a winner then they cancel. GIVE ME A BREAK! That’s one reason why I gravitate towards the old movies and shows.

Im so disappointed that deception has been cancelled, i thought it was a terrific on the edge suspense series that i looked forwards to watching each week great story line, great cast of actors and actresses. Meagan Good in this role really shows her acting skills not only is she beautiful but it shows how hard she works at her craft. There goes another great series.

I don’t understand why this show didn’t do well. I’m a major tv junkie, so very picky, & I loved this series. Plus everyone out there it was Not like Revenge. I watch that too but I enjoy Deception way more. I’m a DVR person & Deception was one of 3 shows this past tv season that I almost always watched same night & never have had more than 1 episode on it waiting.
