Dirt: FX Cancels Courteney Cox Arquette TV Show

DirtThe second season of FX’s Dirt series was cut short due to the writers strike. Only seven of the 13 ordered episodes were produced, with the last one airing on April 13th. Fans wondered if six additional episodes would be filmed for the show’s third year to make up the difference. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing a third season at all.

Over the weekend, Dirt star and executive producer Courteney Cox Arquette told reporters that the series had just been cancelled by FX. She was attending the “A Time for Heroes” Celebrity Carnival, held to benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

The cancellation doesn’t come as a total surprise. Dirt’s ratings slipped in season two and the season (now series) finale attracted just over a million viewers. On top of that, castmember Ryan Eggold signed onto the CW’s new 90210 series and Alex Breckenridge’s committed to CBS’ The Ex List series which debuts in the fall.

While it doesn’t look like we’ll see the staff of DirtNow again any time soon, Cox Arquette and hubby David Arquette are continuing to develop new projects together. Stay tuned! TV Series Finale home page

THAT SUCKS!!!
all the good shows get cancelled, this show actually was decently done, they should see about putting it on showtime or hbo and do it with out the commercials
this one is better than the played out nip/tuck series. would have thought that would have suffered in viewers before this one.
bummer and bitter…………I’m done with tv.

Because of the writers strike ? Viewership declined ? What do they expect when a strike happens ? Perhaps if they would freaking market stuff right and give things a chance this would not happen. I am going to start a petition. I say we start sending FX Network, dishes and bags of dirt. Maybe they will get the hint we need to “dish some dirt”. I am tired of some crack-head executive not really understanding television programming. Let’s dish the dirt. Dishes of dirt, dirty dishes, this show must go on. This is one of the most brilliantly written series on television right now. We can’t be left hanging like this. Kadesrave@yahoo.com. Send me a message and let’s get dirty.

Wow — I really enjoyed watching this show ! Is there any hope, are there any options for returning this to television. I bet if you ran late night prime time like Show time did with Dexter it would be a humongous hit. I think theirs an audience out there for sure !

I’m spanish and I’ve seen this show on youtube. It’s a great show with intelligent and brilliant scripts, so to speak, something very unsual on TV. I’m actually upset with the cancellation. Does anyone know if there’s any way to complain formally?

FX is about to go on my S#!+ list. We are waiting over a year for Damages to come back on AND they cancel one of the best written and intriguing shows on the channel!! I am appalled at this cancellation and blame FX for not promoting the show enough to keep the ratings. This was one that should have stayed running for years to come.

I’m sorry to hear Dirt was cancelled. I wonder if it was political? Maybe too close for comfort on some of the episodes or was it all completely fiction? Who knows, right? It was done very well. I always looked forward to watching it. I put it in the same category as Mad Men as far as something new , not your every day sitcom. And very creative. The writers on both of these shows are excellent. Sorry to see it go. :(

Too Bad, ” The Shield” is in it’s last season and this is one of the shows I look forward to watching, even though I usually don’t watch while it is on T.V. I always buy the DVD set and usually watch it all within a couple days so that it is still fresh and I don’t forget anything…

I loved DIRT. I have been looking all over for the new season and just found this site telling me its been cancelled! WHY ON EARTH! It was such a great show. No wonder I hate FX… just looked at its recent lineup… it sucks. No DIRT…. that was the best show on the lineup. I can’t believe it. Cox was incredible…. I loved her character…. I wanted to be like her.

DIRT, WAS ONE OF THE BEST SHOW’S ON T.V. AND CABLE!!! THE SHOW HAD MORE OF AND EDGE THEN MY BARBERS STRAIGHT RAZOR. THESE IDIOTS ON FX, AND FOX, NEED TO GET A NORMAL PERSON TO TELL THEM WHATS HOT, AND WHATS NOT. SOME OF THE SHOWS THAT THEY KEEP ON SHOULD BE FLUSHED DOWN THE TOILET, AND THE SHOWS THEY CANCEL SHOULD BE CONSIDERED THE FLAGSHIPS OF THE NETWORK. FX, YOU JUST LOST ANOTHER VIEWER YOU IDIOTS. Dirt should of never been cancelled!!! What the heck is FX thinking? That was BY FAR one of the best shows i’ve seen in a long time. I’m very disappointed in FX for cancelling the show.
