Dirty Sexy Money: ABC ”Cancels” Peter Krause TV Show

Dirty Sexy MoneyAfter posting a series low in the ratings last night, ABC has decided against ordering additional episodes of Dirty Sexy Money. Does that mean it’s cancelled?

Dirty Sexy Money follows nice-guy lawyer Nick George (Peter Krause) who takes over his late father’s only client, the wealthy and powerful Darling family. Tripp Darling (Donald Sutherland) is incredibly influential but is living proof that money isn’t everything. His relationships with his wife Letitia (Jill Clayburgh) and their five grown children is sometimes shaky at best. His adult children are politician Patrick (William Baldwin), promiscuous Karen (Natalie Zea), corrupt clergyman Brian (Glenn Fitzgerald), and immature, party-loving twins Jeremy (Seth Gabel) and Juliet (Samaire Armstrong). Other characters are played by Blair Underwood, Zoe McLellan, Lucy Liu, Will Shadley, Laura Margolis, Bellamy Young, Candis Cayne, Shawn Michael Patrick, Chloe Moretz, Sheryl Lee, Andrea Smithson, and Daniel Cosgrove.

Money debuted in September 2007 on ABC. The premiere episode attracted 10.44 million people and a 3.6/12 rating /share of the 18-49 demographic. The following episodes dropped considerably in the ratings but ABC decided to take a chance and renewed Money for a second season.

Should Money be cancelled?

Since its return on October 1st, the ratings haven’t gotten any better. Last night’s viewership represented a series low. As a result, ABC has decided against ordering any additional episodes for the season, effectively cancelling the show. There’s a slight chance that Money could return in the future but, with its ratings history, that’s not likely to happen.

The cast and crew are currently finishing up shooting the final episode. It’s not known if it will include any kind of closure for the show’s ongoing storylines.

For now, Money remains on the ABC schedule. If the network pulls it before airing all of the episodes, they’ll likely be released online or, at the very least, be issued on DVD. Stay tuned! TV Series Finale home page

its a good show.. ABC should not cancel it.. They need to to promote it better.
Its much better then most of the crap on ABC. DSM has a good story line and it is different then most other tv shows/ Way too many csi kinda dramas on tv now a days. I like it cuz its a good change and a very good star cast..

I loved DSM b/c it was not like any night time drama on air currently. The second season really picked up and it was finding it’s footing. The main issue was the time slot; I was a nielson household, but it didn’t count as us watching it b/c we’d DVR it and watch the next evening (we have to get up for work at 4:00 am–sorry ABC). So the whole neilsen rating system in at fault and doesn’t depict true viewership. Sadly, the Sara Connor Chonicles suffered the same fate even though it was well documented that an equal number of viewers watch the show on the FOX website or HULU that watched it live. Unfortunately, only live TV counts. Combined, that show had more viewers than much of what is on TV now.

DSM is the only series show that I could get my husband to watch with me. He even gave up football games to watch the show with me. We’ve been married 45 years and this is the 1st time we’ve watched a series together. It’s an exciting show with a powerful story line about what money can buy. We looked forward to the show.
I agree, there are way too many reality shows. The only reality show we watch is “Do You Think You Can Dance – both Canada and US”.

What is wrong with the American Networks,? they are or have cancelled some of the best T.V, shows they have had in recent years. DSM, The Unit, Shark, and now I hear The Medium is going too. Whats next Crimanial Minds or The Law and order series? come on get with it America. I hope the British networks picks them up.

What i cannot believe is that for the first time in ages a show has come out that keeps us wanting more, wondering who is being truthful and who is not … and now its cancelled …. seems as if Dirty Sexy Money should become menotinous, repetitive and pathetic as some shows in there 4th and 5th seasons, and maybe then it will stay on air!!! Give it a decent broadcasting slot and you will see its popularity … get with the times!!!!

I can’t believe Dirty Sexy Money was cancelled! My husband and I both looked forward to watching it. We even recorded it if we were not going to be home. I hope the network listens to the public and keeps it on the schedule. I think part of the problem is the network moved DSM to the new time slot and did not advertise the move. I agree with Kerry, give them a decent time slot and let people know it is back then watch the ratings climb.

I understand the business side of it, but the plain truth is that DSM is a great show to watch. It includes an excellent cast, great acting, intelligent story line and directing. My wife and I loved watching it and we feel very sorry it is gone. Maybe someone on the PPV business should consider taking upon it.

I am furious about the cancellation. That was one of the best shows on television. I want it brought back.

I’ve checked the new Fall 2009 line up for ABC and since they cancelled Dirty Sexy Money, I won’t be watching the network at all. None of the new shows described sound as fascinating as DSM, nor do they have the acting talent evident in the cast of DSM. I’m wondering why ABC is intent on going out of the TV business….they seem not to have any idea exactly what makes a good show, or how to support a good show to greatness….I mean what did they think running the last few epidsodes on Saturday night without any publicity? To make sure not one of us would notice and watch? Talk about mean-spirited……

I can’t believe this show has been cancelled. I so looked forward to this show EVERY week!!!!!! I found out that it was back on this summer on Saturday nights by the second Saturday show and no wonder the ratings were low…no one knew it was going to be back on and on Saturday nights at that. If they would advertise better then more people would’ve known it was coming on this summer. This show is FABULOUS!!! Please bring it back…on ABC or any other network!!! My parents love DSM, too!!!
