TV show description:
After the unexpected death of his father, idealistic lawyer Nick George (Peter Krause) takes on his father’s longtime clients, the Darlings, an incredibly wealthy and powerful Upper East Side family.

Led by patriarch Patrick “Tripp” Darling (Donald Sutherland), family members frequently find themselves in trouble and Nick is left to clean up both the legal and illegal messes. Tripp is married to the beautiful Letitia (Jill Clayburgh) and they have five troubled adult children.

Patrick (William Baldwin) is a rising political star who’s having an affair with a transsexual. Karen (Natalie Zea) has been married three times and lost her virginity to Nick. Brian (Glenn Fitzgerald) is a whiny Episcopal priest who has an illegitimate child. Coke-addicted Jeremy (Seth Gabel) and his spoiled twin Juliet (Samaire Armstrong) make frequent use of the NYC nightlife.

At Nick’s home, his sensible wife Lisa (Zoe McLellan) takes care of their seven-year-old daughter Kiki. Lisa appreciates Nick’s huge salary but is well aware that her husband may be growing closer to his old flame Karen.

Tripp’s ruthless nemesis is self-made billionaire and philanthropist Simon Elder (Blair Underwood) who may have some information about the death of Nick’s father.
