Drop Dead Diva: Season Five Ratings

drop dead diva: canceled or renewed?Last year, Lifetime cancelled Drop Dead Diva because the ratings weren’t high enough. Thanks to a special deal, the cable channel later decided to purchase a fifth season. Will the numbers justify a sixth season or will it be cancelled again? We shall see.

Drop Dead Diva airs on Sunday nights and there are 13 episodes. This time, the cast includes Brooke Elliott, Margaret Cho, Jackson Hurst, April Bowlby, Kate Levering, Lex Medlin, and Justin Deeley.

Below are the TV show’s ratings for the fifth season. These figures will be updated as the weeks progress so you can watch how it’s doing.

UPDATE: Lifetime has renewed the show for a sixth season of 13 episodes.

Final season averages: 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.99 million total viewers.

Year-to-year, the premiere was down by 13% in the demo (vs a 0.8 rating) and down by 6% in viewers (vs 2.3 million).

Reference point: The fourth season of Drop Dead Diva averaged a 0.8 demo rating and 2.3 million viewers.

Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.

What do you think? Do you still like the Drop Dead Diva TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a sixth season?

I love Drop Dead Diva its a great show, I have been watching it since the Pilot. The story line is great and their are endless possibilities of where to take it. It’s like such a refresher from all these stupid reality shows that are on for some reason. I haven’t followed a show as much as I do DDD since Charmed. And in my opinion DDD has the potential to be as big as charmed if you guys knew how to handle it. I love DDD and you guys would be losing alot of viewers by just canceling that one show

I love the show. But it is obvious that Lifetime does not.
They have played with the fans and people on the show. At the end of season 4, they waited until the very last minute, then cancelled the show. Then Sony came in and after a total waste of time, got the show back, so we fans could have a proper wrap up of the show.
And then what do they do? They shoot the entire thing and then show 8 of the 13 and hold 5 back until October!
Enough is enough. There are great actors on that show, and great fans in the audience.
We all deserve to be treated better!
Finish the show already and let us all move on without Lifetime and without Sony.

I think you need to leave it alone!! Leave the show on the air, I have been watching it since day one and it keeps getting better and better you did not even give people the chance to know it was back on. That is why the last episode was more viewers than before people probably just found out it was back on! What are you people expecting I mean my goodness you have 2.46 million viewers watching that is Great! Not like it is a couple thousand and look on facebook and see how many fans is on there this show is a hit! You keep taking it off and people are going to get fed up with your crap and not watch any of your shows I know I will!! Why fix something that is not broken leave it on and longer than a couple of shows for heavens sake already!!!

Love the show…I would hate to see them cancel it again. It shows people of all shapes and sizes go thru trials and tribulations and have the same abilities to get recognized. Please get Jane and Grayson together.

I’ve been a devoted DDD viewer since season 1 and it’s always been a feel good television program for me.. I believe it’s that way for a lot of other DDD viewers also.. I believe this show should be renewed and left alone… So what about ratings? What do they know? People would rather view blood and guts and that gets GREAT ratings!! Must be something wrong with television programming nowadays… They put the bad crap on and take the good stuff off!! Well lets change that… LEAVE DROP DEAD DIVA ALONE!!!!

I LOVE Drop Dead Diva!!! PLEASE do not drop it!! Oh, and I am so SICK of seeing previews for Devious Maids! That show can’t hold a candle to Drop Dead Diva!!

This show has been my favorite since it first aired. Please, stop making the story line a joke. Owen was much funnier and cooler when he and Jane first got together, he seems more of a pansy these days. Let’s have some drama!!

  11. Chris says

Let me add.. they are bringing it back DIRECTLY up against the Walking Dead season premier..WHY would you do that unless you want suicide? This show has had higher ratings than Devious Maids for most of the summer and it has already been renewed, higher ratings than Dance Moms most of the summer.. Double Divas DIDN’T EVEN REACH 1 MILLION VIEWERS last year and still got renewed (Lord knows why..it’s awful). Pretty Wicked Moms never got over 1 million viewers, Preachers Daughters (or whatever that mess was called..) never got over 1 million viewers.. If it comes down to ratings DDD should be renewed!
