It was an unimpressive start for this new series. It was in third place at 8pm and in second place for the remainder of the half hours, beaten by FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance by 29% in the demo. It may be that America is tiring of singing competitions or at least that they’re not ready to embrace another one so soon after the finales of The Voice and American Idol. Perhaps the network would have benefited from waiting a few weeks to premiere this one.

Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.

I really like the format, talent not as polished as some other shows , but love hearing the duets with the professionals. Judging should be more truthful. Definitely renew.

  2. Bev says

Like the concept … don’t like the judges with the exception of Nettles whom I never heard of before the show. Robin Thicke is ssooooooooooooo bad as a judge.

I love this show. I beg to different with other poster who thinks they are B performers. I like that the singers are involved with the kids (that’s why it’s called Duets). Jennifer and her boys just keep blowing me a way with the way they harmonize week after week. Keep this show; how about having Reba next time!

I love Duets! I also like it much better than the voice. I love Jennifer’s performances and her voice is beautiful. I like to see her work with her partners and they always have me in tears! I also think her duets are the best… I love to watch the judges responses… some i agree with and some i dont. Kelly also has a wonderfull voice and the energy about her is uplifting. i like her performances with Jordan as they compliment each other, but her other duet should have went home! you can barely hear him when he sings or you cant understand him because he doesnt enunciate his words clearly. Sounds like he has a heavy tongue & is nasal. But Jordan had to go because she was the duet that would have given competition. i was sad to see her go! Ive like Robin for years but i dont think he picked the best partners to duet with…due to the breathlessness of his voice. So i think that takes away from the performances with his duets—im not really moved. John Legend…a beautiful smile and the pearly whites are great on camera…lol… I like his duet performances and was shocked that one of his duets went home so soon. Over all… in the end Im all for team Nevilles cause they rock! While they gave me a scare last night because I thought they were going to mess up Whitney’s song like Jennifer Hudson did… But They were GRRRRREEEEAAAAT! I hope Duets does continue on to another season.

Love the concept of Duets and hope they renew it. I also love seeing Robin Thicke every week, he’s so talented.

renew! I love this show! 8p.m was a bad time slot for summer. 9:30 is a much better time! Give it a real chance at the new time slot! No one ever gives a show enough time to grow!

I like the show. I think it showcases some pretty good talent. I like all of the judges, but I think that Kell Clarkston is so critical if she gives a complement she will criticize all in the same breath, and stares at people like she may have issues. I think it should be renewed. To me its running neck and neck with American Idol which to be truthful I like Duets better.

The unfortunate “reality” is that these so called “stars” do not resonate. They are all B rated acts attempting to get a (late game) career boost. America isn’t stupid, it likes what it likes. Stating that someone is a star doesn’t make it so. Put these four people on Celebrity apprentice and people might watch. The exception being Nettles, who comes across as very genuine and likeable. The other three feel very fake and plastic to me.

It’s also worth noting that the studio and set design are low budget and it shows. The stage is small, and the judges chairs look like cheap plastic. Color design is poor as well.

All in all, the idea is solid, but the execution is poor and the “star” power is lackluster at best. There is room for more singing shows, but only if they are executed properly.

In conclusion I would have to say that the show is little more than an infomercial for these four artists, with only the absolute bare minimum paid for production, and it shows.

How are they trying to copycat the Voice–Do they have chairs that turn around .The contestants are hand picked by the judges then compete with them on the show as Duets.

How are the “superstars” B listers? Kelly Clarkson is one of the biggest stars in Pop music right at this moment and has been for 10 years. Jennifer Nettles is one of the biggest stars in Country music. John Legend is a hugely popular and highly respected singer. I don’t know much about Robin Thicke. To say all are B listers like the stars on Celebrity Apprentice is untrue.

This show is not even in the same league as the voice. They are trying to copycat it, and they don’t even come close!
