It was an unimpressive start for this new series. It was in third place at 8pm and in second place for the remainder of the half hours, beaten by FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance by 29% in the demo. It may be that America is tiring of singing competitions or at least that they’re not ready to embrace another one so soon after the finales of The Voice and American Idol. Perhaps the network would have benefited from waiting a few weeks to premiere this one.

Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.

What do you think? Do you like the Duets TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? How does it compare to others in this genre?

It has amazing vocals on that show! Kelly Clarkson hit the bull’s eye when she said many stars in the US cannot sing as well as many of these contestants!!! Keep the show going! Absolutely love the judges, especially Kelly and of course, Jennifer!!!!

DUETS is one of my favorite shows … bringing high-quality musical entertainment into our homes. Love the pro-performances and not wasting time watching untalented wannabee performers embarrass themselves, as on other reality shows. I HOPE IT IS RENEWED!

I really like the show. It’s different from American Idol, because the contestants are actually singing with these incredibly famous musicians and have to prove their ability to keep up. It’s incredibly difficult to keep up vocally with Kelly Clarkson, so anyone who can handle that already has my vote. The contestants are getting constant feedback from their idols during rehearsals, and this gives them a chance to prove that they can not only handle sharing a stage with some of today’s biggest artists, but also by themselves. I definitely think this show should be picked up again.

We love the program Duets. I don’t watch So you think you an dance or The Voice. I usually don’t care for that type of program but Duets we enjoyed. Especially Jennifer Nettles and the partners she chose.

I thought this show was only to be aired for the summer. It’s really not such a great show that should be renewed. I do love some of the singing but not all of it. I’m sick and tired of hearing the word “pitchy”

I don’t think they should cancel it. I hope they learned some lessons and revise the voting system (let the public vote on all shows, no mentor voting) and instead of singing 3 minute songs, shorten them by half. Also, the first few shows with the 8 contestants should be no longer than 1 and a half hours. 2 hours is too long. I do like the fact that nobody was eliminated the first 2 shows. It give the amateurs a chance to get used to being on t.v. and get comfortable. I hope they keep that.
If they renew it they have to make sure that Kelly and Jennifer are signed up. I could live without John but Robin is kind of fun in his goofy slimey way, so if he stays or goes it wouldn’t bother me.

I really enjoyed Duets. I hope they keep it going. It was fast moving every week and I like the whole concept with the stars singing the duets and at times performing with each other. Very entertaining.

I love Duets and this different and fresh concept. It is very entertaining and I like the pairings of the amateurs and professionals. I hope ABC renews it!
I especially love Kelly–she is an awesome mentor and has such a huge personality and sense of humor, love her energy and enthusiasm–she is a hoot! She makes the show!

I hope the songs will be available for sale–I keep checking.

PLEASE RENEW DUETS!!

My husband and I love Duets. It is a little different than most of the talent shows in the fact that they don’t drag it out for months. The stars personally pick (2) contestants that they think are talented and then mentor them. It is entertaining and I love to see the chemistry between the stars and the contestants and the growth of each contestant. The elimination is also different in the fact that the contestant is taken off the show at the beginning and they don’t drag it out and stress the contestant out for the whole show. I like the concept and will continue to watch if it is renewed and hopefully it will be.

I hope they renew it. I would disagree with comments saying the singers aren’t stars. They are all stars in their genre, of which only Kelly is pop, so the other three are not known by some people who don’t follow country or R&B.

They probably should come up with something besides “superstars” to refer the them as I think only Kelly could rank that high. But I can see why they did it since “Dancing with the Stars” has minimized the term “Star” by using it to refer to everyone from Rob Kardashian to Chaz Bono.
