It was an unimpressive start for this new series. It was in third place at 8pm and in second place for the remainder of the half hours, beaten by FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance by 29% in the demo. It may be that America is tiring of singing competitions or at least that they’re not ready to embrace another one so soon after the finales of The Voice and American Idol. Perhaps the network would have benefited from waiting a few weeks to premiere this one.

Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.

What do you think? Do you like the Duets TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? How does it compare to others in this genre?

my wife and I really enjoyed seeing the young talents teaming-up with the aspiring young
performersand sort of nurturing them through the contest. Hopefully, the show will not be cancelled.

I love this show it is different from the others. It is that one on one that makes the show special.

I watch almost no reality shows–just too much bombardment of these shows! Everything has become a reality show. However, I truly enjoyed Duets and most impressed with the song range of Jennifer Nettles. I had heard of Sugarland but never any of their songs OR maybe I’d heard the songs and didn’t know who they were. Jennifer has a powerhouse voice and can sing rock, gospel, R & B–anything with so much passion and joy. I also appreciate the relevant, candid but always positive and endearing comments by Robin and Jennifer; John and Kelly just weren’t articulate or seemed to parrot what Robin/Jennifer said. I like the concept of The Voice as too many shows are based strictly on looks–at least that was a novel idea to have the chairs facing backwards with no preconceived ideas, initially. I hope Duets returns for another season; ;my only comment would be to PLEASE leave the audience/viewers’ votes OUT and let the professionals judge to the end. Since they’ve judged from the beginning (and sincerely seem to be the most “fair” andunbiased”), they should have the final vote and/or say as to who wins.

I REALLY ENJOYED THIS SHOW, IT WAS BETTER THAT AMERICAN IDOL, AND SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. THE ONLY THING IS I DON’T THINK THE JUDGES SHOULD JUDGE IT SHOULD BE THE AUDIENCE. BUT I LOVE THIS SHOW CANCEL AMERICAN IDOL AND PUT DUETS IN ITS PLACE .

Duets was awesome. Please bring it back. I liked it better than all of the other singing shows. I think it would be a mistake not to bring it back.

Keep Duet’s on television!!! I absolutely loved it and I think it has been one of the BEST singing shows that are on TV right now. I think we need something new and Duet’s it that something!!!! I loved the judges that were on the show especially Jennifer Nettles.

Drop Duets!
Not really entertaining.
This whole thing of judges voting (not isolated from the other judges)
could be open to fixing.
Ranking of contestants should be shown only after all songs are done.

There really isn’t any good television anymore, because everything is a reality some or another. Duets was something new and fresh. It wasn’t drawn out for month after month, I think it would be a big mistake to cancel Duets. Since the show moves so quickly, get other sets of 4 Stars and their choices to keep it going for a longer season. I don’t care what there ratings were, most of the time people have their tv’s on, but aren’t even watching them. So I don’t think that you can base ratings on that. Duets deserves to come back!

Bring back “Duets”! I enjoyed watching the improvements of each of the Stars team. I also enjoyed seeing the Stars mentoring their choices. It was a really good show, I would set my TV reminder from week to week. This isn’t american idol or x-factor, I think they suck. They will even be worse since they have new judges. Some of the new judges doesn’t even qualify to be a judge to me. Britney Spears? Who cares what she thinks? Some I haven’t even heard of. Which last season of Duets, I had never heard of Robin Thicke, but after watching the show, now I know him. Most of these reality shows that are on suck. I could care less about the bachelor or bachelorette, wipe out, etc. Duets was a great show, with a” difference” from the others. Please bring it back.

I think duets was awesome !!!! First of all the contestants sing with celebrities. Second there isn’t a big long drawn out process to find out who gets booted, everything happens in one night. Third my favorite of them all is when the contestant has to sing for their life they SING ACAPELLA!!! Then you see what they really got!!! BRING DUETS BAAAACK!!! PLEASE!!!

I thought Duets had more talent in 8 new stars than American Idol had in the thousands they auditioned and eventually made it to the final 12. John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, Robin Thicke and Jennifer Nettles have ultra talent, and it showed when they sang duets with their picks. Duets is actually fun to watch because all of singers ….. new and established, have talent. The stars have class…real class. The feedback is real and genuine and comes from current entertainers, not entertainers who are has-beens or have a lack of work, so they are on Idol. These people still have thriving careers and take time to help others get ahead. I love the emotion and real caring the stars offer the contestants. This show is real and needs to be brought back!!! Further, I like the fact that it isn’t on for 3 months like Idol. They cut through the chase, and get it done! I’m all for bringing Duets back another season. After the first season, it is proof the 4 stars on the show recognize true talent and will only have gotten better season 2. BRING BACK DUETS!!!!
