Elementary: Season Two Ratings

Elementary TV show on CBSThe ratings for the first season of Elementary weren’t all that impressive but CBS renewed it for a second season anyway. Will the numbers improve in season two, stay the same, or fall so the show ends up cancelled? We shall see.

A contemporary update on the Sherlock Holmes stories, Elementary follows the eccentric detective (Jonny Lee Miller) and Doctor Watson (Lucy Liu) as they help solve crimes in New York. Aidan Quinn and Jon Michael Hill round out the cast.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

I’m curious about something. This show has a syndication deal, but hasn’t been renewed yet. Does this syndication deal actually guarantee a renewal, or is it only in place if the show does get renewed? I only ask because you need four seasons for syndication, and given the season 2 ratings, it seems risky to commit to two more seasons of this show.

The evolution of the ratings is painfully clear.
Just finish it off already. These death throes are unbearable to watch.

Lucy Lui is AWFUL as Doctor Watson. She adds nothing to the show, other than stereotype box ticking.

Sherlock Holmes is a fundamentally british invention as is Doctor Watson. Whilst I enjoy the show it is a pale comparison to the superb BBC Sherlock.

Not being funny but there hasn’t been a plot in elementary that I hadn’t solved long before the result is known (and I am no Holmes!). By pandering to the american market, it loses the fundamental aspect of Holmes.

The crimes should be incredibly difficult to solve! I would fear living in New York if they didn’t have on their payroll officers capable of solving these crimes!

I mean refering to Lucy Lui’s Watson as an outstanding detective? It’s a joke!
